  1. I went yesterday to the Museo Nacional de Aeronáutica in Buenos Aires. It was cloudy and began to rain as soon as I got there. The visit was worth it, because I was able to see the two restored IAI Dagger C-432 and the Douglas A-4C C-322. Grupo de Restauraciones Aeronáuticas started restoring the A-4C months after the Argentina vuela 2022 (which took place in the platform of the museum). Here are the photos of the restored plane in its Malvinas/Falklands colours, with a bonus photo of the plane in its post war scheme. Post war scheme: Restored scheme: Bonus question: Why are the engines removed when the aircraft are sent to museums?
  2. Hello everyone! After being away from the site for more or less a month, I decided to upload the photos of my 3d printed Skyhawk here. I didn't do so earlier because I was too lazy to open Imgur and copy and paste the image links to BM. Hope you like the plane!
  3. Hello everyone, After some time off the bench, I come back with a new model. Well, two, but I'll be making a separate thread for the second one. It's a new 3d printed model from Kosmosur 3d, the A-4P Skyhawk in 1:48. Markings will come from the Aerocalcas decal sheet 48011, which comes with options for A-4P C-214 and 236. I'l be building 214 in Malvinas/Falklands markings, with yellow bands. Here you can see both airframes assembled.
  4. Because the Kinetic Pucará's price has gone way off my reach (175$), I decided to buy the low cost option for 25$ from Kosmosur 3d in 1:48 and Aerocalcas decals. The model came bagged, with three smaller bags inside the bigger one. Three fuselage halves, props, wheels, cockpit, underwing stores, engine nacelles, gear struts, and a vacuformed canopy. Dry fit showed a very nice fit so far. As per usual Kosmosur job, the assembly of the fuselage is a but joint, so I used epoxy instead of CA to glue the halves. I don't wish to press harder that I should and break the seams and fuselage. One thing I did to modify the nacelles was ro remove the prop shaft, they were too big for the mounting hole at the back of the prop. Here you can see the first photo, the aircraft with the flaps in the retracted position. A 60 gramme weight can also be seen inside the cockpit opening, so no pilot for this one. I wanted to raise the quality of this kit a bit, so I scored the flaps panel lines until I could remove them from the wing. These were then reglued in the extended position with epoxi and secured with some CA. Vallejo's Plastic Putty was used to improve the union. The dark grey is there to check the filled seams of the fuselage. Here's a photo of the decal sheet I'll be using. It's from Aerocalcas, and comes with options for one high visibiliy plane, and a low viz one. I plan on using the hight visibility option. As you can see, A-511, Tomba's aircraft is included. I don't know if I'll be using that one, of the Mauritanian scheme in sand and brown.
  5. This Mirage 2000 I-012serves in Grupo 8 de Caza of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina. The aircraft wears the test camouflage used on the IRL Mirage IIIEA I-003. What if from the Monogram 1986 kit with Condor Decals decals.
  6. Argentina has a long history with Dassault aircraft. The first Mirage IIIEAs were bought new in the 1970s, and the Sùper Ètendards were added to the Navy's inventory in 1980. During the Falklands War, with the need to replace the lost Daggers and EAs, Perú sent their Mirage VPs. In 2015, Argentina retired the Mirage family, ending a total of 45 years of supersonic aviation in the country. The Mirage 2000 was one of the many options offered together with the Korean, Indian, Russian, Chinese and Pakistani and US designs. The French and US aircraft are out of the question because of the embargo applied by Britain to British made components. This didn't stop the presidency of Mauricio Macri to buy five Sùper Ètendard Modernisè, which are currently stored because, you guessed it, the seats lack the explosive charges to blow the canopy in case of pilot ejection, made by Britain. This build will be a what could have been if Argentina had bought the Mirage 2000. The chosen kit is the Monogram 1:48 model, a new tool model from 1982, and reboxed several times, even by Hasegawa. The model faithfully represents the prototype aircraft without the refuelling probe ln the nose. The kit comes with two Exocet missiles and two Matra missiles. I'll be using a decal set from Aerocalcas, taking the eagle head. Roundels and numerals will come from Dukel and Condor Decals's sheets. Don't let the small box fool you, it's a decently sized aircraft in 1:48.
  7. Earlier this month I went to the Argentina Vuela 2022 at BAM Morón. The air show lasted between 13 and 14 August of this year. There were several aircraft in exhibition, plus an air show performed by the Fuerza Aérea Argentina. Here are the photos of said show: Beechcraft 200 1-F-43: Beechcraft T-45 Mentor(s): Battle worn Douglas A-4C: Bristol 170 Mk.I LV-AYC (TC-330): C-130H: Austral Líneas Aéreas MD-81 LV-WFN (MD-81 with the most flown hours in the world): Avro Lincoln B-004. Currently the MNA is gathering money to carry out a restoration of the aircraft: S-2T Turbo Tracker 2-AS-23: Westland Sea King 43 SAAB 340 TC-32: Beechcraft B-45 Mentors of the Escuadrilla Histórica: Mirage IIIEA I-007: Drone with the A-4AR C-927 in the background: Mig 15UTI LV-X216: EMB 314 Tucano:
  8. I was actually saving for the Tamiya P-47 in order to test my new Mr. Mark Softer on their decals, but this one showed up cheaply from a known Facebook seller. The seller warned me before paying him, that the kit was unbagged and with the decal sheet cut in half (but in top shape). Hopefully everything will be there. For now, I'll be posting photos of the boxart from the Internet, a single photo of the IRL aircraft, and some profiles of similar aircraft. Here you can see 431 after the War. It had the yellow ID markings on the tail. As other Daggers had yellow ID bands on the wings, and this one doesn't show the upper surfaces, it's safe to assume 431 also had the yellow bands on the upper surfaces of the wings. A profile from the Mirage IIIEA/Dagger from Kinetic. I'll guide myself with their instructions for the yellow bands. C-437, with the same yellow configuration on the tail and yellow bands. Here you can see 431's brother, 432. It was exhibited in the Museo Nacional de Aeronáutica in Buenos Aires. As of 2022, it's been removed from the hangar to undergo restoration works. Also, a profile from Dagger C-430 with turquoise bands. And finally, the boxart (taken from the Internet): I also have posted a wip thread for Tamiya's Fw 190D-9 in 1:48. I don't know which one to build when my holidays arrive.
  9. I finally decided to get the old Special Hobby Pucará. I originally had built this kit when it had been reboxed by Airfix in 2008. I was 12, and I can't remember the way it looked. Now that I'm 13 years older and with much more experience, I went ahead and bough the kit. Included are resin parts for the seats, exhausts and the propeller hubs, photoetch parts, and a small film sheet for the instrument panel. Special Hobby included decals for Uruguayan and Venezuelan machines, but I'll be using the ones provided by Dukel Hobbies. Now I'm facing the dilemma of buying the single colour (Revell 75 Stone Grey) I need for a camouflaged machine, or just go for the NMF plane. Box: Sprue shot 1: Sprue shot 2: Instruction sheet: Decals from Dukel Hobbies: Full colour painting guide (one scheme is shown, the other two are under the first sheet).
  10. Hello guys, Here are the photos of my most recent model, Italeri's Mirage IIIE transformed into an EA by using the empennage extension and leaving out the Cyrano radar bulge. The kit was brushpainted with Revell Aqua acrylics. I used Condor Decals set 48054.
  11. Hello guys, It's been a while since I posted anything. Today I bring you this A-4AR Fightinghawk of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina. It wears the scheme of the 100 years of the FAA.
  12. Here are two photos I took while I was going back to MDQ´s airport for my return trip to Buenos Aires. Translated from this link: First flown in England on April 4th 1948. Assigned to the 4th Interceptor-Fighter Regiment (Regimiento de Caza Interceptora) as I-073. Flight of acceptance in Argentina on September 19th 1949. Transferred to the 3rd Interceptor-Fighter group and re-registered as C-073. Discharged on December 30th 1970 due to flying hours limit, being the Gloster with most flight hours on the Air Force. It´s now a gate guardian on the entrance to the BAM MDQ with the fictional registration of I-071.
  13. Hi folks, this is the MB.339A flown by Teniente Owen Crippa on reconnaisance mission over San Carlos on 21st May 1982 when he damaged the HMS Argonaut. The Italeri kit was rescribed and Pavla resin cockpit and vacform canopy has been used. The complete build will be featured in my 'modelling manual' publication that is due soon. Cheers Libor
