  1. Hello there, Henrik here A few months ago (3 to be specific), I finished my first painted model, a a Revell 1/48 F/A-18E Super Hornet after more than 6 months, as I started work on it in November last year. I got it as a gift, and I chose a Hornet because (unpopular opinion(?) ahead) it's one of my favourite fighter jets, as it looks so sleek. 😄 I agree that the Hornet will never replace the Tomcat, but I consider it a worthy successor. It does the job well, and it kinda looks sick (with the Super Hornet being chonkier, a fat Hornet ) In case you're wondering why it took me so long, it's due to school, time constraints and procrastination. Sometimes I want to start work on it but then remember that I have to do other stuff later and then put the modelling work off When I do start work on it, it's hard to stop though, hahaha 😆. And also, I was planning for my second painted model to either be a plane or a car (either Revell and Tamiya planes, or Tamiya cars, specifically a Supra :D). But a few months ago, I saw a cool Bandai X-wing kit at a department store and couldn't stop myself. I'm currently using it to practice my skills, especially in painting and weathering. I have also tried many new techniques like masking canopies. Oh, and I got myself a Revell BAe Hawk 1/72 for my second painted model, I can't wait to start on it 😎 (once I finish the x wing of course) Here are pictures of the Super Hornet, enjoy~ Also entirely brush painted of course, don't have an airbrush (yet). ^ The left wing, which looks wrong, came like that in the box probably due to a defect. I know I should have got a replacement from Revell but I was too excited to build the model 😳 ^The foggy canopy was because I tried to remove the seamline by sanding and polishing but I can't get any polishing compound so I had to leave it foggy. ^Cockpit, which was the first part I painted and looks the worst. Constructive criticism and critique welcome! Overall, I enjoyed the process and loved every part of the build. I made lots of mistakes, some of which are pretty obvious, some not so, but I too learned a lot and look forward to proceeding ahead in my journey of starting this hobby and look forward to build more models. Thank you for reading, and be sure to comment your thoughts
  2. So, here it is! In all it’s horrific glaring errors and dodgy masking attempts. This is the first model I’ve built in eight years and also the first I’ve done using acrylics and airbrushes for the majority. It’s also my first attempt at weathering and adding (hopefully!) realistic metallic finishes. I know theres areas that i could've filled and sanded better; areas that I should’ve masked better; the canopy is a mess - first time trying a liquid mask; the seam lines look much worse than they did in person and it’s a bit scruffy overall. I think I rushed in my desire to see one done so I plan taking much more time and care with the next; an Academy MiG-29 in 1/48. Please be gentle with me but any and all advice is graciously received! To the pictures! Thanks for looking!
  3. Hi all! I just want to share with you the things I have been doing to a 1/72 Heller F-16 A/B old issue, I got this kit to tinker with it and learn well... everything! I haven't done any aircraft modelling in a really long time and last time it was just a gluey mess with pieces of plastic attached to it. So I decided to go for a cheap kit and learn all the basic and try some advance stuff as well. This kit has raised panel lines which I decided to sand down and scribe them with a tamiya pea cutter I am also doing the riveting bit by bit using a small 0.3mm drill bit. I will get some pics when I have some more done. I also got inspired by the fantastic work of Diego Quijano detailing a F-18 also on a 1/72 scale. The more I work on my F-16 the more respect I got for the level of complexity and the attention he put on his model! I have been working during the past week in detailing the landing gear bay and getting it to a more interesting level and the original kit had absolutely no detail whatsoever. Here are some pictures of it: Still want to do some more cable work and also start working on the landing gear per se to detail it a bit more. I am also thinking in cutting some part of the fuselage to scratch build some of the internal bays. Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks! and all the best
  4. Hi all, after a visit to the Lego museum in Prague (yes!) I decided to pick up the POW which I started and never finished. As I already started once and then gave up for time reasons, decided to open this WIP post to get a bit more social pressure and finally deliver Can't wait to buy my second model though! Here are a couple of photos, some pieces are painted already some other only have the first coat of grey. PS: If anybody could point me to a nice guide on model painting it would be great! Any feedback super welcome!
