  6. Hello, While researching the most accurate A6M to buy a ton of in 72nd, I came across two conflicting articles: 1. Article at Aviation of Japan blog, which states: Oleg wanted to know if the Fine Molds kit is still the best 1/72 Zero and discovered that the Tamiya kit appears to have some problems with geometry around the cockpit compared to the drawings in the FAOW book. In Oleg's opinion, although the Tamiya kit has some finer details, the Fine Molds kit is still better 2. Article at Flat Spins and Milk Runs, which states: Both models capture the contours of the Zero effectively, and it comes down to nit-picking to determine a winner here It seems we fave a bit of conflicting info on our hand, so i would like to ask if anyone has both Tamiya and Finemolds A6M2s (and/or A6M5s) in 72nd, to compare the shape of the fuselages. Thanks in advance, Aleksandar
  7. This is a build backdated from FineMolds 72nd 109 G-10. Build progress can be found here: According to falkeeins blog, JG 3 began receiving these upgraded Gustavs during May 1944. Their task was to intercept Allied escorts at high altitudes. "Schwarze 27" belonged to the second group of JG 3. regards, Jack
  8. Group shot of the kit and extras, (small set of turned brass guns and antenna still in transit): Might go with the bottom scheme of the Nachtjagdgruppe, so good thing the kit has a spiral decal as none are provided by H-Models set. Going fo an inflight model, so a resin pilot from PJ Productions replaces the sort of chunky looking injected one. Canopy mask are designed for AZ Models, but hope they prove of some use here. regards, Jack
  9. Finemolds is to reissue in July its 1/72nd Kyushu Q1W1 Tokai type 11 "Lorna" under ref. FP27 Original kit ref. FP-15 Source: http://www.finemolds.co.jp/iroiro/2017SHS-new.html box art V.P.
  10. Hello Gentlemen, this is my next build on Britmodeller. FineMolds 1/48th scale Mitsubishi A5M4 "CLAUDE" Imperial Japanese Navy. The Mitsubishi A5M Japanese Navy Type 96 Carrier-based Fighter was the worlds first monoplane shipboard fighter to enter service and the direct ancestor of the Zero fighter. It was designed by Jiro Horikoshi who is the subject of the The Wind Rises which is an animated historical drama film. The model comes on three main sprues. Spure A contains the wing sections, B contains the engine & cockpit details with sprue D the fuselage halves. F is the transparency and P contains 2 poly caps , only one of which is required. The decal sheet has 3 colour schemes. No 1, 14th Naval Air Group, China, 1940, No 2, Aircraft carrier Kaga Naval Air Group, Japan, 1939, & No 3 Naval Third Carrier Division, 1942. There are 68 parts in total (2 of which are not used) 1 transparency & 2 poly caps. The box art. Construction stages 1 to 9 Construction stages 10 to 15 & paint chart. The three colour scheme options. Sprue A. The wing & undercarriage parts. If you look at the surface of the upper wing, you will notice the different shades of plastic. You can see it more with the naked eye. It shows the different panels very well. It will be interesting to see how they look on the finished model after the paint has been applied. Sprue B, The fuselage, engine & cockpit detail with the decal sheet. The transparency is in the decal bag along with the poly caps. I hope to start the kit in the next week or so. I will first remove all the major parts from the sprues and tape them together to get some idea of the fit. Thanks for looking, Joe.
  11. And my next new work! Paints - gunze sangyo hobby color. Thank you for your attention !
  12. TIE Interceptor Finemolds 1/72 Hi everyone This was built in Febuary 2014. It was the first Finemolds SW kit I'd built and it was very nice, though a little undersized for 1/72. The base was made from various bits and bobs built up on the supplied kit base. I added a few LEDS to the base to add a bit of interest. Enjoy the shots Thanks for looking Andy
  13. I finally finished this little guy, after languishing in the bottom of a display case for around two years.. I painted it with Vallejo silver grey over a Tamiya German grey preshade. Weathering was done using citadel and oil paint washes, oil paint streaks and oil paint shading and toning.. If that's a word?
  14. Hi Guys This is Finemolds 1/72 Y-wing completed June 2014. The kit was built OOB for the most part with a little extra detail in the cockpit and scratch built steering vanes. I didn't want to finish it as one of the film versions so went with a fictitious scheme. The paint chipping was done with a combination of masking fluid and hairspray. I'm not 100% happy with the colour choices I made and I'd love the opportunity to try a different scheme on another but of course Finemolds have lost the licence now. Hopefully they'll keep the tooling safe and they'll be re-issued one day. Anyway, enjoy the shots Thanks for looking Andy
  15. Here is my latest completion, it is the Finemolds 1/72 Messerschmitt Me 410B-1/U4, well that's what it says on the box anyway. The colour profile of it in the Yellow Series book on the Me 410 states that it is a A-1/U4. Built mostly OOB but with replacement aerials and pitot made out of fuse wire, brass tube and guitar string. The gun barrel is the Finemolds turned brass version. The fit of the fuselage halves and the engine nacelles weren't up to Finemold's normal standards, in fact the fuselage halves looked like they had been mastered by 2 different people in 2 different factories and the engine nacelles are well known to be oversized. Painted using Mr Hobby paints which normally work very well but I had a bit of "orange peel" appear and had to respray some parts. Decals are a mix of the kit's and from the spares box to make up the serial number and the small codes. This model took quite a long time to complete as my enthusiasm for it would wane at every step so it had many visits to the shelf of doom but I got there in the end. I didn't use my normal method for masking the canopy so it's a bit rough and the aerial is at an odd angle where it joins the fin but I just wanted to get it finished finally.
  16. Well whilst I await some paints arriving for my 1/32 GPU build I thought I would do a quick build of a Finescale Y-Wing, straight out of the box, no messing. No extras at all. Tub glued and into spray Bit of dry brush and done The pilot was another matter, he had to undergo serios surgery, I bought the kit off ebay and the person selling said he had cut out the pilot (personally I think he'd put the wrong 1 back in the kit). front pushed onto the body to stop me breaking some piping Now adding detailing onto the body
