  1. Porsche GT3R Resin Wheel sets. 1:24 resin from FG Models The Porsche GT3 is the high performance version of the Porsche 911, with the GT3R being the track racing model and is equipped with all the regulation safety equipment to allow it to race competitively. There are a couple of options when it comes to building a 1:24 GT3, the Tamiya 911 GT3, or the Fujimi GT3R. FG Models have produced 2 resin wheel sets for these kits. The first set I will look at comes in a nice card box and is cast in a pale gray resin. The resin is very nice with no flaws or flash on the set. The detail on the rims is very fine with nice thin spokes on the wheels with the 3D shape of the spokes is also captured on the resin parts, as can be seen in the second picture. BBS wheel set. The second set received for review is a set of BBS centerlocks. These are 3 part wheels designed for strength and low weight. The wheels are cast in the usual gray resin, and again the casting is superb with no flaws in the casting. Below is a shot showing the shape of the spokes, and the detail of the locking nuts around the rim. Also included is a set of center lock nuts. These are cast separately as they come in an anodised blue or red colour on the car, so this will ease painting them against the wheel. Conclusion A very nice wheel set with a high level of detail. FG models have asked me to point you towards there E-bay site but asked me to mention their parts can be brought through other avenues such as Hobbyeasy.com, hlj.com, Mediamixhobby.com.sg. 2. FG Models 1:24 Resin Wheels. FG models have supplied a number of resin wheel sets for 1:24 models. All of the wheels here are cast in Gray resin, and are very well done with no flash or casting flaws in any of the sample sets. The first set on the review bench is a set of 20inch Brabus Mono-block wheels. The resin wheels have captured the shape and look of the real alloys very well, with the detail on the rim and hub being very fine, with nice nut details around the rims. There is a separate centre hub to allow you to paint the wheels and the hub different colours. HRE Wheels HRE Wheels is an American company manufacturing a large range of wheels, both single part, and muilti part rims. FG models have produced 2 wheels from there range. The first set I will look at are 1:24 versions of the HRE P47SC wheels, and in 1:1 they come in a choice of sizes and FG have picked the middle sized 20inch wheel to cast, and Fg have captured the shape of the wheel very well. The second HRE wheel form FG is the P40S, again FG chose a 20 inch rim to cast. The shape of the resin again captures the shape of the wheel nicely. Conclusion These are nice wheels that capture the shape and look of the real parts very well. Some nice aftermarket rims for your models. 3. Aston Martin DBS upgrade sets 1:24 sets from FG Model The Aston Martin DBS is the high performance version of the DB9, surely one of the prettiest cars ever made, powered by a 5.9l V12 engine powering the rear wheels via a 6 speed gearbox. The Aston Martin DBS was produced between 2007, and 2012 when it found fame in the hands of James Bond in CasinoRoyale and Quantum of Solace Tamiya produce a 1:24 DBS model kit in 1:24 scale, and is recommended as a base for these two sets from FG Models. FG has produced an etched sheet to up-grade the Tamiya model. The Tamiya kit includes a small etch sheet and this is designed to work along with that to detail your model. The biggest part of the sheet is the etched bars to replace the plastic grill on the nose of the car. It is made up from interlocking horizontal and vertical bars, as the sheet is a shiny chrome finish it will not require painting. A set of metal brake discs are also found on the sheet with dimples on the surface to simulate the drilled vent holes on the discs. A wash of black will deepen these for a more realistic finish. Still on the outside are some number plates as used on the film Casino Royale. Also on the sheet is a plate with the BBCs Top Gear logo so you could add a scale Stig! Inside the car is also covered on the sheet with an etched dashboard dial surround and some DBS logos for the seats. FG Models have also created a nice set of Volante light weight resin wheels for your 1:24 Aston Martin. As expected from FG they are cast in Gray resin, with very fine detail and no flaws on the resin. They are very fine and they capture the 3 dimensional shapes in the wheels very well. The centre hub is cast separately and carries the expected high level of detail. Conclusion A couple of very nice sets, the etch will add allot of detail to the kit, and carries on from the etch supplied in the kit. The option to build Bonds car is a bonus, as are the inclusion of the Top Gear plates. Now we need a scale Stig, Clarkson, Hammond and Captain Slow! The wheels are a piece of resin art, capturing the shapes and curves of the real wheels, it will give your build a different look. Highly recommended! 4. Hino Blue Ribbon Photo-etch detail set. 1:32 set from FG Models The Hino Blue Ribbon bus was introduced to the Japanese streets in 1982, the chassis is built by Hino. It has gone through various upgrades, and is now available as a non-step or flat floor bus. It is powered by a Hino HU2P turbocharged diesel engine and a ZF automatic gearbox. The Hino Blue Ribbon bus has been made by Aoshima in 1:32 scale, and now FG Models have given us an etched sheet to upgrade the kit. The etched parts cover both the inside, and exterior of the model. On the inside there are some detailed covers for the driver’s foot pedals, and ticket machine. There are also some etched floor plates for the front entrance floor, and sills for the 2 passenger doors. A set of internal roof handles are also included for the standing passengers to hold. Moving to the outside there are licence plate holders for the front and back, and some cover plates for the front bumper. There are 2 grills, and 4 fan covers for the large roof mounted Air conditioning system on the bus, these are a vast improvement on the kits plastic parts. Finally there are some very nice pantograph style wind shield wipers, with separate wiper blades and the washer hose is also present on the etched arms. Conclusion This is a nice set that will give your bus a little extra detail. 5. Routemaster Resin Wheel conversion The Revell kit of the London Routemaster bus has been a very popular kit, but to my mind there aren't enough aftermarket parts and decals for this kit, bar some etched detail sets. Now FG Models have come to the aid of modellers who want to do a later refurbished and modernised Routemaster model. The Routemaster went through various up-grades and modernisation programs during its service life. Revell have supplied the kit with parts to build an early or later bus with the different engines and other parts. Part of the later modernisation program saw some buses having the original split rim wheels replaced with more modern wheels. The Revell kit is cast so the bus can only be done with the early split rims, with the centre kick rims in place. This set from FG Models contains 6 parts cast in a pale grey resin and is enough to do the front axle on one bus. The level of detail on the parts is very good. The inner wheel and hub look similar to the Revell part, and all the detail is on the outer wheel. The vent holes around the rim are all open and the wheel nuts look like you could crack them off with a scale wheel brace! Conclusion A great set from FG Models to allow you to do a Routemaster later in its service life, or one that has lost its cosmetic centre cap. Recommended!
