  1. I was skimming through my aircraft archive, a couple of days ago, looking for weathering inspiration, and came across this picture of an RNLAF F-16 that I photographed at Nellis AFB way back in 2009... My eye was drawn to the panel, on the side of the intake, under the EPU (centre left on this detail). Crazy variety of stuff... light rivets, dark rivets, splotches of colour with fringes of another colour. Anyway, thought it might be interesting to someone (with better eyes/paint skills than I)
  2. More of a placeholder as I’m finishing off my Canberra SC9 over at the unarmed GB as I’m off to Tokyo 8 July - 10 Aug so need to get that over the line… Thought I’d have a bash with this - have a couple of Hasegawa line kits in the stash but felt like doing something different … This is a really old tool reboxed down the line … Challenges will be white paint, raised panel lines and of course the large decals …. Will pop a Canberra pilot in (unless anyone has any modern USAF pilots sat in the spares box never to be used !) and see how it goes…Kit has loads of ejection pins and flash to sort but seems quite a basic build parts wise … Have some Mr Paint in all 3 colours for where the insignia red and blue are needed … How do you guys prime for white ? I just used a white rattle can on the Canberra - is it better with black over the white plastic or maybe Halfords grey ? or stick with the white?
  3. In an effort to use the last remaining Tamiya initial issue of the F16 kit i decided to use the TwoBobs decal set i got earlier this year for $5 - they had a sale on!! Painted with Vallejo Air ( using a hairy stick) and some tamiya acrylics This is the base kit
  4. These are a mix of Kinetic, Hasegawa and a Tamiya 1/48 kits. I'll post a few more if thats ok?
  5. A couple of my most recent completions
  6. Hi! Im Fredrik and im new to this forum. Great to be here! I just picked up modeling together with my brother and father (we made a hobby room for dad as a 60 yr gift). Last time i built something was when I was 12. Iron eagle has always been one of my faviorite movies as a kid (still is kind of) so building a F16 was an easy decision. Looking for comments about what to improve techniquewise for my next model. Hopefully I can add some images of the result in daylight when I get back to our hobbyroom 😀. I put the images in the post below.
  7. Hi all, I would say that's quiet "old" model, i built it about year ago. Added Aries Exhaust and Pe belts for seat. I hope you'll enjoy as much as I 😀 ]
  8. Hasegawa F16 Eggplane, Retrokit cockpit and exhaust, decals by TwoBobs Amazed still that there is so much aftermarket for eggplanes! White is Halfords primer, orange is Hataka, hand painted. Lacquer is Halfords matt, works a treat BUT...make sure you put klear over your decals...... that's why there are wrinkles in the USAF ! Dropped this more times than I care to remember, tricky little thing to hold.
  9. finished last year but photobucket pics went off, so here she is again! cheers
  10. Hi gents , showing my progres on this one, it will be a birthday gift to my brother as I wouldn't finish for me ha... it was resting some years in the stash after a failed cirugy with verlinden resin that I finally had to use an old hasegawa viper donor on some fuselage panels.I had severe silvering decals (my mistake) didnt spray a proper gloss coat, also WW tail unit decals are reversed, again my mistake, it will be display in flight, now having fun with oils as I like weathered models, sorry for the quality pics as I couldnt use tripod this time, so till next chapter, cheers Antonio
  11. Academy 1:32 F16 Kunsan, 2005, Col Billy 'Wolf' Uhle I finished this a few months ago but only just got round to figuring out a replacement for Photo Bucket! It is an excellent kit and the level of detail is lovely. It is an out of the box build and I chose the smoked glass for the canopy which works well I think. Paints are Tamiya and Alclads for the exhaust etc.
  12. Im in with this reboxing of the much hyped Tamiya 1/72 F16CJ - come complete with full weapons, so will be built OOB. This kinda fits in with my ongoing USAFE project. Did toy with doing a Have Glass V version, but Spangs airframes are still sporting the standard 2 grey paint job. Have a Mustang to finish by Sunday and am off to Uganda for a couple of weeks, so it may be started after then.
  13. Im in with the Academy 1/48 F16C boxing. Plan is to use the Caracal 48-086 CAS Vipers decals (ordered yet to arrive). I understand the kit is a pain - I looked at the last STGB, it was built with my other decals of choice, the SuperScale 111FS 90th birthday Texas ANG. So it may change as I have paint for both. I have filler and sanding sticks! Have my Mustang to finish before I jet off to Uganda on Sunday, so may get to start or it may wait for a couple of weeks.
  14. Good day, gentlemen! I present you my next model. It made with resin details of landing gear, air brakes, jet nozzles and ejection seat. And also I used a set of etched parts from Eduard. Painted strictly according to instructions of Tamiya.
  15. Sadly not a full WIP build just wanted to share this quick build in it's current state. Been wanting to do an F-16 ever since I got back into the hobby over the last year and snapped this up on Amazon for £6 recently, never built a Hasegawa kit before so didn't quite know what to expect. It's not a bad kit but does have it's flaws, few fit issues to contend with..especially with the main landing gear! The supplied decals were just awful though! Pretty much unusable so I decided to order Daco's Belgium Air Force 349 Squadron from Hannants just to have something different, two pics below.. ...I'm still very much a novice at all this right now so quite new to after market decals, and certainly had issues with the tail fin! But I'm quite happy with it so far. First time spraying from a can using the blu-tac worm technique too (practicing for the 1/48 Tornado going on at the moment!) which I've just about got the hang of I think. Will post more pics soon, thanks for looking!
  16. I made this a bit earlier in the year, but have only just got around to taking some decent photos. As usual Kinetic offer an amazingly detailed kit but true to form over complicate the build. I added a resin cockpit but everything else was OOTB. A 1st for me using Mig Jimenez acrylic paints, which I think were spot on for the right coloring's for this IDF bird.
  17. Ok so I have the Kinetic 1:48 F16c (block 40) 'Barak' and I am wondering which of the Gunze Mr Color paints are good matches for the camo scheme?? many thanks Chris
  18. Finished.. Not quite how I wanted it but learning with each build.. Kept underwings clean as did not want to ruin the beautiful lines of the plane. Weathered it a little to much perhaps. .. Sorry for the poor photos..
  19. Hello everyone! This is my first post and my first build thread This is the first time i am building a 1/48 scale, i have only built smaller kits. This is also the first kit i have/will ever paint with an airbrush. Here is the current state of the build: I am currently thinking what colors i should paint the missiles and rockets on this plane. I can follow the instructions but maybe more "modern" colors would look better. Thanks for reading, i will keep this thread updated!
