A return to plastic for me...following a recent multimedia MFH 1/12 Ferrari F2007, I wanted some degree of ease in my build so figured I wanted a brief interlude back to plastic. I also wanted to have a break from a long, drawn out car build so opted for this beast, out of my stash. Obviously, everyone loves a Martini scheme...If you don't, you're wrong...simples... this will be built alongside a little 1/43 scale white metal Ferrari in the natural breaks, so I will attmept to update them both regularly... So, needed some raw materials... Hiroboy to the rescue, Tamiya kit, Detail up fork set, some paint and to chuck over that, some decals...hope I can do this justice... Building starts tomorrow...with the engine...

Here's another from my pen of excruciatingly long builds. This one is so long that I can't actually remember when it was started - 5, 6 years? It's almost been finished once only for me to realise the body colour wasn't accurate. So, stripped and resprayed with Tamiya TS-17 Gloss Aluminium and a clear coat of Tamiya TS-13 Clear. Buffed with Micro Mesh polishing cloths (4000 up to 12000) and finished with all three grades of Tamiya polishing compounds. Some very light weathering, mostly with AK Interactive 'Dark'. This model is boxed as a Protar 'SWIFT' model and it was only the other day that I discovered that Protar released these as 'easier' for construction and less amount of parts. The moulding is good... although the engine block suffers perhaps with the usual Protar softness. I have done a good deal of super detailing, wiring, plumbing and more scratch building on this model than i've ever done before. Carbon decals from both Model Factory Hiro (exhausts) and Studio 27 (front mudguard) replace the Protar efforts which, by the way, are HUGE in pattern. As I destroyed the original 'Senna' markings I had some others made, more about them in another post of mine. I know, the senna markings are missing on this side. I'm waiting for some further bespoke ones to arrive.

I'm new to the forum and wanted to display my first post and first build in 13 years. I built lots of cars up to getting married and the time taken with starting a business etc. meant my attention moved to collecting high end diecasts. But lock down has given me the time to build again and I've loved it, it's kept me from frustration. This is the wonderful recent Tamiya kit with upgrades from Top Studio and Hobby Design Detail kits, as well as various Top Studio additions such as brake banjos and bleed nipples. Paint is mostly Alclad with the fairings in Tamiya LP-21 Italian Red, which did give me some problems. I had to redo a few panels as the 2k clear reacted with paint that hadn't hardened yet, even after a week of waiting! Hence it's missing its front DUCATI logo until I can find another.

I really enjoyed this really intricate to build - loads of detail - but exceptionally well-made kit. Definitely worth the money

First model I've put up so be gentle 😁 The decals on this thing were absolutely insane. If you know anybody about to start this kit make sure you buy shares in their favourite decal solution.

My uncle asked me to do take a crack at this kit for him after I built an Iron Patriot for my cousin. First time I've worked with a motorcycle kit. Fairly simple, but my word I wish Tamiya didn't chrome plate the parts >< Without further ado, here it be Gaz

Ahoy folks, I have a question. My uncle has had a motorcycle kit for years and asked me if I'd put it together for him, but I've run into a potential snag. The decals for the kit, on the artwork and real pictures, are white. Mine have a cream tint, but its not on the carrier film, rather the actual text. However, the dial needles and markings still appear to be pure white. Has anyone else owned this kit to know whether they're supposed to be this colour, or weather I should try out the 'tape to window and let the sun fix them' technique I've just looked up? Cheers in advance. Gaz

A quick browse of Crash.net brought up this video [here] of Ducati's entry in this year's World Superbike Championship. I would imagine drivers of electric powered racing cars will be green with envy at the sound.

Evening all, my first RFI and this is my take on the Panigale. Paint job is a nod to the great Mike Hailwood who died in a tragic road traffic accident back in 1981 just aged 40 (I was just 18) near where I now live, story here for those interested: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Hailwood I can still remember at college one guy arriving in a Mike Hailwood Replica, caused quite a stir Apologies for quality of photos taken with my iPhone, need to sort a proper camera out. I Really enjoyed doing the build, had problems with the fiddly mirrors, rear end needed much coaxing and Tamiya TS8 decanted was a nightmare to cleanup airbrush etc afterwards. My thanks go to Imster, jimmysze, CWT and others for info gained from their excellent builds. Anyhoo here are the pics: Comments and criticisms welcome, ATB, Dave.

After becoming slightly obsessed with the new Star Wars movie, i decided i wanted to actually be IN it as a character, unofficially of course. So i needed a ship.. a Starfighter to Bounty Hunter and Smuggle my way accross the galaxy! I love the new T-70 X-Wing esp the new wing design, but i wanted something more individual than just a re-colored one. I love Lamborghini's and Ducati's and after looking at an Aventador.. a light bulb went on in my head. This isnt an ordinary X-Wing, cockpit forward, based on a lengthened Lamborghini Aventador roadster, now a single seater with Ducati wing Intakes. It will have a segment of Millenium Falcon style engine on the rear, with the main fuselage tapering up/down to meet it. Lighting planned for Cockpit, Engine nozzles & front guns.

Tamiya 1/12 Ducati 1199 Panigale S (Pre-order now)
LeVi Tophatter posted a topic in The Rumourmonger
After the rather nice news (to me anyway) of Tamiya's new tool 1/72 F-16CJ, I decided to have a gander at what else might be coming. To my utmost surprise, I found this solitary image off a built up Ducati 1199 Panigale. Clearly a quick build 'test shot' but it does tie in with previous rumours of an impending Ducati release... This image was found on this blog http://tamiyablog.com/category/future-releases/ with the 1199 being the first image on the seventh row down. Apart from being photographed at this years Nuremberg Toy Fair, no scale or other identifying text can be found on this unofficial blog. Also no other information has come from or can be found on Tamiya's official channels. Please feel free to add or correct any information presented. I really do hope this is the next new tool 1/12th scale motorcycle release... (Edited to amend topic title)- 14 replies
