This is a placeholder for my second entry in this GB. I have this kit both in an Airfix box (well, the box is long since disposed of), and a Heller 1990s boxing. I'm building the Airfix release, which I bought back in 1990: UPDATE: Box art from original Heller release (254? 354?): I cannibalised the French roundels some years ago, so I'll build it as the Greek subject. For some reason, I've never, ever, ever built a Mirage 2000 before. The shame, the shame, etc.

Hello guys, it's been a long time since I posted a WIP. I'll be building the most recent boxing of Academy's Super Ètendard in 1:72. I'll be using Aerocalcas's 72004 decal sheet to make this SuE as 3-A-202. The aircraft will be painted with Revell acrylics, with EDSG for the uppers and white for the lower surfaces.

Mirage F.1 C/CT (04971) 1:72 Revell The Dassault Mirage F.1 has been a successful point defence fighter for over thirty years, and was developed initially as a private venture by Dassault as a replacement to their ageing Mirage III fighters. It is a single-engined, single-seat fighter aircraft with a high-mounted delta wing and capability of reaching mach 2.2 in short order. Power was provided by a single SNECMA Atar turbojet providing about 7 tonnes-force (69 kN; 15,000 lbf) of thrust. Dassault soon found an eager customer in the shape of the French Armée de l'air, who bought various versions over the years starting on 1974. The French retired the Mirage F.1 in 2014. The ED is the export version for Qatar, and the EQ the version for Iraq. Its worth noting that private military contractors in the US are buying large surplus stocks of Mirage F.1s to use in the adversary role. The Kit Here Revell have re-boxed the excellent Special Hobby/MM kit with new decals. The parts are crisp with engraved panel lines deep enough not to disappear under a coat of paint, but not trench like. From the parts break down on the sprues it is evident more versions are on there way. Construction starts conventionally enough in the cockpit area. The instrument panel and coaming is built up and attached to the front of the cockpit, the rear bulkhead is attached, and the control stick added in. For some strange reason step 3 in the instructions has you placing the cockpit inside the fuselage and closing it up; and step 4 has you adding the front wheel well and exhaust into the fuselage. I would safely say that it's best to reverse these. On the subject of the exhaust, it is a three part affair and the quality of the kit parts is very good. Once the exhaust, front wheel bay, and cockpit are in the main fuselage can indeed be closed up. Once the main fuselage is together the correct nose can be added for your chose decal option. Various nose antenna are added along with the front airbrakes which are moulded in the closed position. The engine intakes are also added at this stage. Next the main wings are added which are of conventional upper/lower construction. Once these are on the rudder, tail planes, and ventral strakes are all added as well. Once the main aircraft is built it is time to switch to the landing gear. All three units are built up and added along with their respective doors. The undercarriage is quite detailed but has been moulded to be in as few parts as possible. The main legs along with their retraction struts are one part, with only a single small section needed for each of the mains. The wheels are one part each and have nice relief for painting. It is then a quick re-visit to the cockpit to build the ejection seat. For the scale this is quite detailed with 4 parts making up the seat. There is a choice of seat back/cushion however no indication of which to use for which option. It is suspected these options are time frame based, and the modeller should check their references. The penultimate step is to add the pylons. A single centre line pylon is added along with wing pylons, &chaff dispensers. Thankfully this time the instructions show which should be added for each decal option. The instructions show only fuel tanks to be attached, although the sprues do contain a nice selection of French weapons to be deployed as the modeller sees fit,. Lastly the canopy and front screen are attached. Markings There are two decal options on a sheet from Italy so there will be no issues there. 1. F.1C No74 5-AE, EC 3/5 "Combat Venaissin" 1989 2. F.1CT No260 Disbandement EC 1/30 Normandie Niemen July 2009 (box art) Conclusion A great kit re-boxed with a decent set of new decals . Recommended. Dassault Mirage IIIBJ. Israel bought 4 of these trainers still with combat capability (which was used). Three were sold to Argentina but the 4th (this one) was given IAI. They fitted a US J-79 engine to it and it was used as a expermental aircraft for the Kfir programme. It therefore has some none standard features. Pics thanks to Dov.

Recently joined thought I’d post my current build - this is the second kit I’ve started from a recent forgotten garage find. Matchbox Mystère IVa which I intend to build as a Patrouille de France 1957 aircraft to add to the theme of my first garage find the Ouragan which is in 1955 colours Rescribing done - minor issue when I discovered the raised lines on the kit bear little resemblance to reality - luckily I’d only done the one fuselage half - had to fill the dodgy lines and start again 😳 Now onto the cockpit - the kit offering is a “tad” rudimentary 🤪 - even though there’s not much visible when it’s closed up I think I need to get the plastic card out

Dassault Mirage 2000C (KH32020) 1:32 Kitty Hawk The Mirage 2000C is a forth generation Jet Fighter built by Dassualt for the French Air Force. Like its predecessor the Mirage III its main feature is a large delta wing. The aircraft was designed and built in a surprising 27 months by Dassault using a lot of data they already had developed for the "Future Combat Aircraft" and the so called Super Mirage, The C in the title for the fighter stands for Chasseur or Hunter. As well as two internal 30mm DEFA cannon the aircraft is armed in the air to air role with Matra R550 magic, Matra Super 530D, MBDA MICRA Missiles. As well as the Mirage C there is a B model trainer, N model Nuclear Strike, and D model Ground attack version in service with the French Air Force. Mirage 2000 aircraft have been sold to Egypt, India, Peru, The UEA, Greece, Tiawan, Brazil, and Qatar. The Kit This is a complete new tool from Kitty Hawk, The kit arrives on 7 Sprues of plastic a small PE fret and 2 resin parts (the pilot and the afterburner nozzle). There are a further 6 large sprues which account for all the weapons and fuel tanks supplied for the main kit. Construction starts off with the cockpit. The multi part seat is made up with PE handles and belts. This can then be fitted into the tub along with the flight controls. The instrument panel and HUD are then added. As far as I can tell these are for the French version and although they differ for the export versions these are not catered for in the cockpit. Instruments are provided as decals. Construction then moves on to the front wheel well and landing gear. These are made up and the completed bay is put aside for later. It looks like the leg can not be added later. The cannon bays, and main wheel wells are then made up and also put aside for later. While we are doing this the full engine is made up for later as well. Then the cannon bays and main gear wells can be added to the insides of the main fuselage halves. The front gear well, cockpit and engine are added and the main fuselage is closed up. Even though there is a full engine there is no intake trunking supplied for inside the fuselage. Next up the multipart intakes are made up and installed onto the fuselage sides. There is a radar dish for the front if the modeller wants to display this which can then be fitted, if not the nose cone can go on. Now we move to the wings. These are a two part main upper/lower but have separate and pose-able slats and flaps. Flap actuators also need to be added. The wings feature the airbrakes which are quite noticeable on the aircraft and these can be opened. To the wings themselves the gear wells need to be built up. The vertical fin has a pose able rudder. There are also optional fin tips, however no mention in the instructions which to use for what scheme so the modeller will need to do their own research. At the rear end the resin afterburner nozzle is added The main landing gear then needs building up and adding. All gear bay doors then need to be added as well. The airbrakes need fixing on either in their opened or closed state. To finish off various aerial and antenna need to be added along with the refuelling probe and the canopy. Weapons & Tanks An impressive 6 sprues carry all manner of stores and pylons for your Mirage 2000C. There is minimal carrier film and the colours are sharp, everything looks colour dense. From the box you can build one of five aircraft Mirage 2000C 118-AX French Air Force (Grey colours Tiger Stripe on fin top) Mirage 2000C 330-AS French Air Force (Grey colours Tiger Stripe on fin top & Tiger on RHS Fin) Mirage 2000C 103-KV French Air Force (Grey colours Large tiger face on both sides of the Fin) Mirage 2000C 5-OP French Air Force (dessert colours) Mirage 2000-5 EL Taiwanese Air Force Mirage 2000-EG Greek Air Force (Checked fin with graphics) Mirage 2000H KF101 Indian air Force Mirage 2000C No.4949 Brazilian Air Force Conclusion The plastic looks great, and there is an impressive array of marking options available. The addition of PE and resin parts including good figures makes this an all round exciting package from Kitty Hawk. Very highly recommended. SMB-2 Super Mystère B2 Early & Late 1:72 Azur FR.ROM The Dassault Super Mystère holds the distinction of being the first production Supersonic aircraft in Western Europe. Dassault developed the design from the Ouragan through the Mystère models to the Super Mystère. While earlier models could go supersonic on a dive this aircraft could achieve it in level flight. The new aircraft with its thinner wing and greater sweep angle entered production in 1957 and left French service in 1977. Supersonic performance was also helped by the introduction of an afterburning engine. A Mystère B4 was looked at to replace it, but this lost out to the Mirage III. As well as the French Air Force, the aircraft would serve with the Israeli Air Force and see combat in the 1967 and 73 wars. The only other user was the Honduran Air Force. These again saw combat in the numerous border conflicts they had. The Kit The kit is a new tool from the Special Hobby / FF.ROM collaboration of design & manufacture. The kit arrives on 6 sprues plus a clear one. The detail and quality is what we have come to expect from these companies of late and does not disappoint. Construction starts with the intake. This is full length down to an engine front at its rear. How much will actually be seen is another matter? The top of the front wheel well then fixes to the intake trunking. The rear of the fuselage also gets the same treatment with a full length exhaust finished off with a nozzle. Next up the cockpit is made up. There is the base, to which the instrument panel, sides and rear bulkhead is fitted, the control column is also fitted at this time. Next up the intake trunking, jet pipe and cockpit can all be installed into the main fuselage halves along with the main gear wells. The fuselage can then be closed up. Following this we move onto the wings. These are of a conventional form of left & right wings with an upper and lower half to each. Separate clear wing tip lights are provided which is a nice touch. Once the wings are done, these along with the single part tail, and the two tail planes can be added to the main fuselage. The nose ring is also added at this stage. The main and front landing gear is then built up and added along with the undercarriage doors, To finish up the ejection seat is built up and added tot he cockpit along with the instrument coaming. Lastly the canopy and windscreen are added. The canopy can be modelled in the open position. If underwing stores are required then a pair of fuel tanks, and a pair of short range AAMs are provided. Decals (Early) This boxing of the kit gives three choices of markings all in NMF; 10-SB from EC 01/10 which took part in SEATO cruise to Bangkok March 1961 (Light Blue Trim) 12-ZH from EC 02/12 "Cornouaille", Cambrai 1968 to 1970 (Green Trim) 5-NJ from EC01/05 "Vendee", Orange-Caritat 1961 to 1964 (Red Trim) Decals (Late) This boxing of the kit gives three choices of marking all in Vietnam style Camo; 12-YF from EC01/12 "Cambresis", Camnrai 1971 10-SK from EC 01/10 "Valois", Creil, 1969 to 1973 12-ZT from EC 02/12 "Comouaille", Pferdsfeld, Germany, 1974 All the decals are printed by cartograf so there should be no issues wtih them at all/ Conclusion This is another good looking French Aircraft which has been crying out for a new kit. Hi everyone. Haven't posted here in a while, so here you go - I just built a 1/72 Heller Mirage 2000 twin seater and finished it in the colors of an Indian Air Force bird commemorate the 20th anniversary of the limited, but well-publicized Kargil war with Pakistan. The Mirage played a key role in turning the tide in India's favor with several sorties including some dropping LGBs at extreme altitudes. The war clearly cemented IAF's love affair with the aircraft and it has since then been it's go-to jet for tough jobs. I picked an unusual color scheme for an Indian Mirage, a two tone camo reminiscent of the older Mirage variants flown by rival Pakistan and strikingly similar to French 2000Ns. I believe this camo was worn by the two seater serialed KT201 temporarily for few years starting in the late nineties along with an equally interesting single seater painted in an even more uncommon desert scheme. This aircraft wears an unusual (for IAF) nose art depicting a Northrop BQM-74 Chukar (aka Chakor in India) drone kill. The build is mostly OOB except the following mods - I cut the canopy open, inserted a clear plastic partition between both cockpits, slightly detailed the seats, added PE frets for cockpit from spares, managed to salvage 1300L drop tanks from the spares bin with styrene fins, built a Paveway LGB with a PWII (from an AMK Kfir) + 1000lb bomb + fins from FAB-500, cut open the elevons for droop, added a homemade pitot tube with toothpick and Dremel, fashioned a Remora EW pod with heated sprue. Overall, not my cleanest build with poor fit, terrible decals and raised lines, but throughly enjoyed putting it together. Thanks to the pilots of the South African Aviation, who sent me books and a handful of photos, not only for Mirages but for their other planes. The colors are Humbrol, upper HU63 and HU75, and down HU65. Here's the picture.

Hi everyone ! Here is a 1/72 Mirage 2000d I recently finished ! I always wanted to build one, here it is. The Revell kit was nice, even though it is slightly inaccurate (the wings are to small, some details are missing...). But hey ! it is 1/72 and I wanted to really finish this one (I haven't done any "model finishing" in a long while). I struggled a bit with the painting, the colors might a little to dark. Also I regret that the canopy doesn't fit... it must be made to be open... and I wanted it in flight. Anyway I hope you'll enjoy !! PS : The exact name of the scheme is "Mirage 2000D, EC 1/3 'Navarre'" in 2009, in base 133 Nancy-Ochey.

Hello, My last model : Special Hobby 1/72 Mirage F-1CZ Decals : Xtradecals and some stencils from Albatross Paint : Gunze (Mix) and Alclad Accessories, Pitot tub from master, and Resin ejection Seat.
