  1. I bought this on a whim the other day because it was what passes for cheap these days on eBay: Small PE fret, film instrument panel, injected canopy, simple scheme. The kit is distributed by MPM and feels very like an MPM kit. Regards, Adrian
  2. On to the next one. I did this one parallel to the Icelandair: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235120614-zvezda-b737-8-max-icelandair-new-colours-1144/ I am personally a huge fan of the new Condor livery ever since I first saw it. I had in my mind of doing a 321 but could not really decide whether to do the blue, the red or the green. I had a slight preference for the green though, as I hadn’t painted any plane in that colour before. Nevertheless we were about to fly to Madeira with a Condor A321 in September, so I said to myself if it will be any of the new coloured ones I will do the one that flew us there.. so in fact the green version turned up for the flight and then the decision was easily made. Some detail shots I could make there were also really useful. Masking this one is obviously quite an effort. I cut some 1,14 cm wide vinyl tape which at least could be used for all the straight sections, the front, the tail and the part under the wings has to be done manually and of course it takes a lot of precise measurements, otherwise the stripes in the back are not where they are supposed to be. Pretty glad it turned out pretty well. Decals are from Nazca and are not great with the usual inaccuracies that one has to expect from that seller – unfortunately there were (and still are) no alternatives. First they are nowhere near opaque, the doors are even with two decals above each other not fully white and again if I hadn’t use double decals the part of the Condor titles that is on white ground was grey. Then quite some spacing is inaccurate, the registration is too wide and in a different font. But as it has quite some space between the letters, if one is aware of that one could cut the letters a bit and make it less wide. The tail decal is also slightly too large, so one has to be super careful that the white stripe on the tail is large enough for it. Window decals are of course from Authentic Airliners, I personally would never use those weird looking Nazca ones – both cockpit and passenger windows have an inaccurate shape and look weird overall. All detail decals are from a Revell / Daco A321 neo sheet. But in the end when using double decals and different windows one can get a decent result that has to be said – to be fair. A good friend of mine is making a fantastic looking red striped A321 at the moment. Otherwise yes it was an effort with all the masking, but I still have in my head of making a 753 at some point either with red (one is being painted in reality at the moment) or blue stripes. The green colour is Tamiya X28 “Park Green” mixed with some drops of blue, the rest is basic Mr Hobby / Tamiya stuff. Winglets are painted as well, again with the help of vinyl stripes cut with a plotter. Here are some photos Thanks for looking / appreciate any feedback / comments Julien
  3. Gents, please allow me to present my first completion of 2021, or my last completion of 2020 depending on how you approach it. It's the Trumpeter FW200C-3, representing the F8+CL of 3/KG40: The kit itself was built with no modification, it's quite a simple kit, most of the parts are on the inside where they safely cannot be seen despite all the trouble you went to painting them. I did paint a couple of gloopy layers of Mr Surfacer 500 on the ailerons and elevators to reduce the skeletal effect of the mouldings a bit. I opted not to fit the torpedoes provided, as I understand it although the torpedoes were trialled with the Condor they were never actually carried on service aircraft. I used an Eduard mask set and I'm glad I did, as well as a couple of their SuperFabric seat belts for the pilot's and co-pilot's seats. The interior was painted Colourcoats ACLW16 - Schwarzgrau (RLM 66) (for the flight deck and radio room) and ACLW12 - RLM Grau (RLM 02) for everywhere else internally including the wheelbays and landing gear. Trumpeter suggest RLM70/71/65 for the camouflage, I went with the Maritime scheme, ACLW04 - Grun (RLM 72) and ACLW05 - Grun (RLM 73) over ACLW03 - Hellblau (RLM 65). The propellers and spinners were painted RLM70 Schwarzgrun. I used an LF Models mask set for the camo pattern. I got the Xtradecals set for the Condor, as I wasn't all that sure of the Trumpeter transfers and I wanted to do a KG40 Condor; the transfers behaved perfectly and I had no silvering at all. The final touches were Tamiya clear red and green for the navigation lights, and a R/T wire made from Infini Lycra thread (70 Denier, fact fans) and some blackish pastel exhaust streaking That's me then, thanks for your attention Cheers, Stew
  4. Remarkable restoration of a Condor recovered off Trondheim. https://fw200-restaurierung-bremen.de/
  5. I had had this kit longer than I can remember, so The Maritime Patrol and Coastal Command GB offered the perfect opportunity to finally build / finish it. The Work in Progress build thread is below These old kits can still provide a lot a lot of enjoyment. Pictures of the completed build below. Let me know what you think Cheers Pat
  6. #9/2020 And a third and last finished 190 for now. Hasegawa kit (limited edition), Eduard seatbelts, details added like brake lines, landing gear indicators and tailwheel retraction wire. EZ Line was used for the antenna wire, AK Real Colors RLM74/75/76 for the camo. The kit included resin pieces for the Hagelkorn but most parts were slightly warped. my dad couldn´t get it aligned correctly under the aircraft, especially the curve of the bomb wings. In the end I found out that there is still a plastic kit Hagelkorn available from Condor (missile set with Fritz X). The thing is a bit more crude than the Hasegawa resin one and slightly bigger. My dad added a spacer between rack and bomb so that the bomb wings weren´t bent downwards too much. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235066233-swat148-focke-wulf-fw190a-8-with-bv246-hagelkorn/ The model shows one of the testbeds for this weapon system. 10. I'm about to start one of these in the Maritime Group Build, can anyone give me some guidance on painting. I.e. Cockpit colours, bombs and bomb bay etc etc. All help, photos etc greatfully received cheers Pat
  11. This is another, very old kit that I have had for so long I can't remember buying it. picture from Scalemates Its the Revell kit from a long time ago, I made a start on the cockpit and then seem to have put it away and forgotten about it. I will post the pictures later on, just to show it's well under the 25% rule. If this goes well I have another kit I would like to do in this GB, but that's for another day. Good luck everyone cheers Pat
  12. The International Resin Modellers Association (IRMA) is to release a 1/72nd Instituto Aeronautica I.Ae.36 (Ta 500) Condor II resin kit - ref. 18 First jet airliner design in South America from Argentina - 1949 Source: http://internationalresinmodellers.com/irma_on-line_store V.P.
  13. Quick start on a long thread! I have in the stash a number of fw200 condors. The first was from a local shop which I acquired back in 2007ish! I started to hand paint it but gave up on the interior parts! This thing predates my acquiring an airbrush! It's been sitting for a while........ then i "saw" the newer boxing c4 bomber kit, I went home with that.....finally I found a trumpeter c3 on half price. Yeah, I got that too. My plan is to build dönitz personal aircraft, but the info seems confusing/misleading, I have the of decal set for it. I will need some more bits and a load of hacking to complete this build. It needs more windows, more seats, less bomb bay and a couple of turrets, or just one? Depending on where you find the profiles. The trumpeter box will represent the longer range conversion trials aircraft, or one of them. The third kit, well, that's still wrapped up nicely......for now. I will post some pics, but I need to shoot them first. I have the kagero book fw200, winkle browns wings of the Luftwaffe, something from osprey, another periodical and some internet references. I am going to need help, especially with scratch building..... For me this will be an epic conquest.
  14. New to the site but I thought I'd start showing off my builds. The subject for today is Airfix's newly tooled 1/72 Junkers Ju87 B-1 Stuka, for which I chose to finish with Legion Condor markings as something different than the usual Luftwaffe Battle of Britain. This is a great kit and the cockpit detail is excellent. I do wish Airfix would add more rivet detail but aside from that it's gone together nicely with only small amounts of filler needed here and there. I think I'm now starting to get the hang of oil paint washing to finish along with airbrushed matt varnish instead of my usual brushed clear but I'll let you all be the judges. Comments welcome, enjoy!
  15. So.. just finished Polikarpov I-152 (I-15bis) http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234992236-polikarpov-i-152-148-special-hobby/ And I decided to start a new project. At this time in the contest "Out of the box" on the site http://scalemodels.ru/modules/forum/viewforum_f_191.html Messerschmitt Bf-109E Airfix on a scale of 1/48. It will be modification Bf- 109E1 of the Legion "Condor" during the Spanish company.
  16. Model of MiG-31 in 1/72 scale. Built few years ago with Condor kit and PART`s brass for Zvezda. Vacu canopies are self-made. Decals are from Authentic Decals set for MiG-31. Terrible build, but I'm quite happy with a result.
  17. This is only my 3rd model I've ever done, so there are new skills to learn still. As I'm a newbie, I'm not particularly fussed about the accuracy of the model; I'd rather just have a cool looking jet in my room. It was painted with Tamiya spray paints, and the smaller bits by hand. The worst part of the kit was definitely the canopy; it was not even clear and looked foggy, and it did not fit nicely at all. Otherwise, a really good kit from Condor. .
