My first post so please be gentle…..😀 Getting back into modelling after 30+ years and really enjoying it. I'm planning to concentrate on maritime plastic models and am currently building HMSC Snowberry. My question for you guys is - Does anyone have any great techniques they use for supporting the model so as you can work on it easily and safely, without scratching the finished surfaces. I've looked at various shop bought clamps, investigated using fare-cut foam types, PCB jigs and numerous other possibilities in an effort to come up with some form of jig. Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Having recently finished a TSR2 and now getting close to the same problem with an Airfix Lightning F2, what do you guys use to support tailplanes that have a wobbly fix while the cement sets? I'm looking for something other than pots, bits of sprue etc and already have my trusted Berna clamps which are good, but don't help measure the angle of the dangle... Suggestions?

I have a collection of pegs and clamps (including my beloved Bernas) but still find I need something meatier for larger jobs. Any recommendations? Picked up a set of garden clamps from Aldi the other day - a massive 99p for about 20. Not mega substantial but OK for holding parts together while glue sets. They have little locating pins on the clamping faces but these can be scalpel'd off if you need to. Brilliant little set & no way my wife's getting hold of them for her plants! Might be one of their special buys so get in quick!
