  1. I use Alclad gloss black base as my base for their chrome. Generally it works quite well for me. This time I got an interesting phenomenom I am unfamilair with. I sprayed pretty heavily and while the gloss came out, it did create a channel in some of the parts/panel lines (see photos attached): The obvious spots are in the vent areas (lower portion of part, red color). https://imgur.com/a/uTckMQm My question is whether I can spray a light coat over these parts (there are... many) to fill in those gaps and ensure full chrome coverage? Or do I spray the chrome and deal with the tiny gaps as is?
  2. Hello All I am building an Airfix B-17G with a polished aluminium finish. Examining period photos (not restored aircraft) it would appear that the "bare metal" B-17's were certainly reflective and in many photos you can see the reflection of the aircrew or mechanics on the fuselage or under the wings Therefore I am looking to create a reflective surface and have tried to avoid the air frame looking like it was painted silver. Using the cowlings I have experimented with four polished aluminium paints which produce different results All four cowlings were painted with Tamiya TS-14 Gloss Black and left to cure for two weeks so that there is no reaction between the black base coat and the polished aluminium paint First up is Tamiya TS-83 which produces a good level of reflection but is not too "bright" - TS-83 is sold as a polished aluminium finish and is a very robust paint which can be masked and not affected by decal solution (so far anyway) First up Tamiya TS-83 Next up is AL-Clad Polished Aluminium Third in the test is Al-Clad Hi-Shine Polished Aluminium Fourth Al-Clad Chrome And finally all four cowlings next to each other From Left to Right: Tamiya TS-83 / Al-Clad Polished Aluminium / Al-Clad Hi-Shine Polished Aluminium/ and /Al-Clad Chrome Therefore based on the above tests which do you think presents the most realistic version of Polished Aluminium?
  3. Hi all, I'm getting back into modeling after many years away. I'm mainly going to be doing motorcycles, British bikes specifically. Looking at the chrome parts, I'm sure there must be a way of getting wheels, chains etc.. looking better. I've seen removing the chrome with thick bleach but nothing more. Is there an idiots guide to doing this somewhere or a pic by pic instruction maybe? Including how to age the bike and a general tutorial on washes & stuff like making it "real" I've seen a bike on here that was stunning and looked so real. The chain was phenomenal. Thanks in advance. Simon.
  4. When opening and closing postings, I am getting the warning "Website blocked" this is then followed by Domain: u.cube.upload.com IP address: 46.4.115.108 Port: 62516 (this number varies) Type: Outbound File: c:\Program Files(x86) Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe This also happens using Microsoft Edge, except there the File refers to Edge not Chrome. This does not seem to affect my use of Britmodeller, but doesn't appear on any other website that I use. I am operating Windows 10, and I have run Avast, Malwarebytes and CCleaner recently. PS this appears most often when using the 36 Sq Vildebeests thread in the WW2 Aircraft Forum
  5. Recently taken delivery of these pens. Due to production problems, we only have the 2mm pen available at the moment, others (1mm, 4mm, refills) will be stocked as they become available. Molotow 2mm liquid Chrome Pen Introductory price, until June is £5.50 each Thanks, Paul
  6. Hi Everyone, I have just completed this build. I have used Revell acrylic paints to complete this build. Silky matt black for the body colour. I decided to do this build as a custom paint/decal build for myself so it has the blue decals on it. Anyway here are the photos : This is my first muscle car build that I have completed in 2014. Comments welcome. Thanks for looking. Rick
  7. Hi Everyone, Here is my next project : Revell 1/25 Shelby GT500 Normally this kit is painted in Ferrari Red with Black decals, White with Blue decals or Brown/Steel mix with White decals. I am not doing any of these colour schemes. I am going with a Gloss Black body with the Blue decals from the kit. All of the chrome accent parts are going to be used. This is my dream car, so I am doing it as a custom build for me. Anyway here are the sprue shots. I have aready started painting the engine components so will be starting assembly of the engine components later and then its onto the chassis etc. Photos tomorrow. Thanks for looking, Rick
