Bf109G-10 (Erla) set is intended for Revell 1/32 kit. The kit allows to solve major nose section shape problems such as slim, narrow appearance, incorrect spacing between MG troughs, strange “dent” under supercharger intake, oil cooler fairing shape and other small details visible on nose surface. Basic set RC3214 consist of four resin details and will be available also in bundle as RP3214 with our PE sets (exhaust pipes shrouds and steel oil cooler meshes). With never ending discussions on the best 109's available, what becomes of the old ones in the stash that don't quite make the cut anymore with today's requirements? Simply a bit of fun and, well, maybe just a little bit of upgrading.. So, I wanted to see what I could make from Academy's 109G. Fin and rudder came as spares from an AZ Models kit, and the spinner came from the ancient Airfix plane, as did the yellow 4. Luckily, yellowing wasn't an issue here. Cheers, Luka

This is my first year of retirement and have very much enjoyed being able to put time into my hobby. I was able to complete a model every month for the first half of the year and have been working on a single, more involved project since then. I have a room dedicated to modelling and this plus the extra time has seen my turnover skyrocket. If I keep up this pace, I should be able to clear the stash in around 40 years assuming I buy no more kits (fat chance of that)! Some of you other retirees may be aware of U3A, but if not do find out about your local one and see if it has something of interest to you. U3A are a voluntary organisation that run activity groups. I started one on plastic scale modelling and local modellers get together fortnightly during daylight hours to build models and coach each other on techniques. I have profited by being shown how to weather military vehicles and the vehicles this year are my first ones. It is all good fun. Here is my output for this year.... Airfix Bedford MWD 1/48.... I've always wanted to make this model, and now it's my turn. Lightweight work model, it fits perfectly. The aircraft I worked on belonged to a squadron that defended Belgrade and Serbia from the attack by German forces on April 6, 1941. Here are the pictures, enjoy.

This set convert Revell Bf109G-6 into Bf109G-6/AS with standard oil cooler. The set is cast from polyurethane resin. For the photo is painted Tamiya AS-12.

Hello every body, after my ANR G-14 I want to show you my G-6 from JG3. Its the first generation 109 from eduard (this with some well known failurs) which I corrected.

Hello fellow modellers I bought this from a model shop in Melbourne. I thought it looked great and it reminded me of the movie "Dunkirk", which I am not sure if I liked the movie or not!!!!! I do like the white and black undersides of British planes at the time. Although I don't know why they used this scheme. Box art: I thought I would start the Spitfire as I have never built a Spitfire, it's about time I did. Spitfire parts: Have a look at the the free flash. This is the 21st-Century Toys 1/32 Bf109G-14, 'tweaked' to represent the similar late-model Bf109G-6 which was the last wartime mount of Finnish ace (and Mannerheim Cross recipient) Nils 'Nipa' Katajainen. Katajainen had joined the air force reserve in 1939 and fought in the Winter War, was discharged in 1941, then returned to service only a few months later during mobilization for the Continuation War. He amassed 17.5 victories flying Brewster Buffaloes before converting to the Bf109 in May 1944, and was to add another 18 kills to his tally flying the Mersu. Having lost his regular mount to combat damage during a sortie 2 days earlier, 'Nipa' was flying MT-476 'Yellow 7' in July, 1944, escorting bombers in an attack on Soviet shipping. After being engaged by defending Yak-9 fighters, he downed one Yak before being hit by defensive fire from the ships, which badly damaged his Bf109. He barely managed to nurse the a/c back to his base at Lappeenranta, where he was forced to try to belly-land at high speed...but instead bounced and cartwheeled, ripping off first the wings, and then the shedding the engine. Miraculously, Katajainen was pulled from the wreckage unconscious but alive. After hospitalization and a slow recovery from his injuries, Katajainen was promoted before being discharged from the air force in November 1944; in December of that same year, he was appointed a Knight of the Mannerheim Cross, Finland's highest military decoration, for exceptional bravery. He was credited with a total of 35.5 aerial victories over 196 combat missions flown. Following the war, 'Nipa' went on to work in the civil service in Helsinki, before passing away in 1997. 21st-Century's kits have been well-reviewed elsewhere; they are simplified but reasonably well-engineered kits which benefit greatly from a little TLC. In this case, that involved an Eduard etch detail set for the cockpit, Radu Brinzan's neat harnesses for the pilot's seat, and some scratch-built bits like the Revi gunsight and items such as the aileron mass-balances which the kit omitted. Paints are Tamiya acrylics; decals came mostly from Eagle Strike's 'Augsburg's Flyers Part III' sheet (#32037), with substitute aircraft numbers made up on my inkjet printer to represent Katajainen's last a/c. I just received my copy of ‘German Eagles in Spanish Skies’ by David Johnston. Wonderful coverage of the early prototype Bf109’s up to the 109E ‘s in Spain. I’ve been collecting books on the SCW aircraft for 40+ years and have to say 90% of those shown in this book are new to me. Lots of information on the transformation from the early silver-gray color to the European colors and even one 109B with a solid light fuselage with splinter camouflaged wings. Pilot interviews, lots of technical drawings as well. Charlie

Hello everyone. This is Messerschmitt Bf 109G-12 Yugoslav version, 15/9615, 83 Fighter Regiment, Yugoslav Air Force, Cerklje airfield, Slovenia, Yugoslavia, 1948-49. 1:72 AZ Model kit with Kora resin conversion set. Following the Second World War, Yugoslavia received some standard two-seater Bf 109G-12s from Bulgaria. Needing more, they converted a couple of one-seaters. This conversion visually differs from the original G-12 in the rear cockpit section where an Erla Haube canopy was used instead of the special G-12 rear canopy. As soon as I found out about this variant I went looking for options to make it and found a Kora resin conversion set with decals. This set was meant for a Fine Molds kit but I used an AZ Model kit from the blank 3-kit pack instead. This of course meant more work to get both to come together but in the end I managed and it came out nicely. Paint and varnish all applied by brush. This is the last 1:72 kit I've built so far (I build mostly in 1:144 nowadays) and I completed it last year. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome. Miguel

My friend has asked me to build him a Late war Bf109 K/G not sure what he wants other than a late war paint scheme 109. But I am completely new to building airplanes so I would like as much information as I can get from you guys who know what they're doing. I have several months before his birthday, which will give me enough time to collect the proper paints, model, etc. for it. Finally I have no idea which would be the best model to buy since I have only ever done AFV, so if we could start there that would be great. Thanks, Mark

Right that's the historical bit,I love Aircraft and since the eight year old me was taken to see The Battle of Britain have been enthralled by event's during the summer of 1940.I bought Johnny Kent's account of his career in the RAF last week and now plan to read Geoffrey Wellum's account when I borrow it off my eldest.I have a terrible track record in this section with the last four or five project's either dead in the water or still half finished! I'm aiming for a end of year finish so no rushing Tamiya's two old but still very good kit's,Box scheme for the Luftwaffe tribute not sure on the Spitfire yet be a week or so before I get a start.

Hi all, I completed this kit around the beginning of the year and along got round to photographing it now. I found the kit to be rather enjoyable as I did not have major problems with it. As for the painting this was the first that I attempted pre-shading and post-shading. I used my usual Vallejo model air colours with weathering done with a dark brown oil wash as well as some chalk pastel smoke stains. Constructive criticism is very much welcome!

Hello guys; After my last model built (Bf109E7 1/32 Eduard), I spent a little time working in this beautiful kit. I used interior and surfaces sets by Aires, Barracuda mainwheels, flaps by quickboost and Mastel PL barrels. Xtradecal decals was used. Cheers!

Hi all! After really enjoying the Hawker Sydney group build and seeing everyone's builds come together, I thought I'd get involved here too. I've had this Airfix kit hanging around for a while. Looks a basic but good little kit. Not half as nice a the Eduard 109s, but then again, looks a lot simpler and should be a nice quick build. This is the exact aircraft I shall try to reproduce. The main reason I bought this kit is the beautiful scheme! I shall see how I get on with it... Here are the sprue shots: First up is work on getting rid of pesky ejector pins... circled in red Which has been done here: And then I got the cockpit tub together. Detail is ok in here, but nothing too special. She's going to be a quick-ish OOB build so I'll leave it as it is and have the canopy closed. I also got a few other items together: So, time for a quick dry fit. So will need a little filler at the rear wing root, but other than that it looks excellent. Liking this kit! Next stage was to undercoat all the RLM 02 areas in black. And then paint them RLM 02, shading where required. Excellent... But I've now discovered it should be RLM 66 in the cockpit areas of the Bf109E-4! 😂 Bit if a problem... I don't actually have any. What I will do is use Tamiya German Grey. I think that will close enough with the cockpit down. We'll see. Ok, more soon! Cheers, Val

Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf109G-4/Trop. This is one of the options in the Bf109G-4 Profipack edition, which comes with mask and cockpit etch. This kit was a nice one to build with no major fit problems. The etch on the tropical filter was a bit tricky to fit but that's about it! That was only because you had to bend it in a curve to fit, the rest of the etch was easy to use. It's nicely detailed and I even tried a bit of pre-shading on the top but I've tried to keep it subtle. It's painted with Vallejo Model Air and while it won't win any competitions, I'm quite happy with the finished model. If you build in 1/48 and you like Bf109's, you really should build some Eduard kits! thanks Mike

Hi all. This will be my first WIP post and will actually be a bit of a catch up, since I started this build back in February and have made progress up to the point of painting. So, if anything glaringly wrong is found in these next few posts, it may be too late to fix! The subject aircraft this Bf109E-4B of 5/JG51 depicted below from the Kagero BoB Volume 3 Topcolours series. The rather unique inscription on the side says "Achtung Anfänger" which translates to a rather ambiguous "Caution or Beware Beginners". It could mean "if you are beginners, watch out!" or it may be "we are beginners so stay clear!"?The other interesting feature is what appears to be an unpainted (or lightly painted) cowl covering the MG17s. Recent discussions I've had Dave (tango 98) has led me to conclude that the cowl was likely a factory replacement part and that Kagero's interpretation that the cowl was painted entirely in RLM 65 is probably correct. The kit used for this project is Eduard's 1/48 Bf109E-4 which is rather nice. The cockpit and other areas are enhanced with penty of nice PE details including the pedals, scuff pads and oil cooler grilles. Eduard have provided a duct for the latter, a nice detail, so you won't see up into the engine. I didn't get Eduard's additional PE detail set but I went and embellished the cockpit walls a bit, adding oxygen tubing on the starboard side and a scratch built throttle quadrant and levers on the port side. The trim wheel and O2 regulator have been added here. Eduard would have you glue the trim wheel chains to the sidewalls but I decided to glue them to the floor assembly. I'll leave it at that for this first post and chuck some more pics up here soon. Thanks for watching. Andy

Hi chaps Back after a while, it's always nice to post something finally done!! 1:48 Hasegawa Bf109G-2 Black four, Kroat JG52 from the eastern front 41-45 It's not straight out of box, it includes a resin cockpit and Aeromaster decals. I did some riveting too, which is quite easy on a 109. It was a fun and quite quick build, the plan is to make room for the other newer 109s from Eduard and Tamiya, Hasegawa being a bit obsolete... but still in my opinion it still is a nice little kit. Here's a Messerschmitt Bf109 you don't see that often, the G-1. The G-1 and G-2 were the first of the G series (obviously) and the G-1 had cockpit pressurisation but the G-2 did not. AZ Models make a reasonably decent series of 109 kits, many of which you can't get from more mainstream manufacturers, so far 109 fans, these kits are brilliant. This one is from JG54 'Grunherz' and I believe it's one that Walther Nowotny flew. thanks Mike

Fine Molds Bf109G-2/R6. The G-2 was the non pressurised version of the G-1 and was the main production model until they swapped to the G-4. This is one fitted with the R6 modification, which consisted of a pair of MG151 20mm cannons in pods under the wings. This gave a useful boost to the firepower, for shooting down bombers but reduced speed and agility for combatting enemy fighters. The Fine Molds kits are the best kits around for Bf109F/G and K models with similar quality to Tamiya and Hasegawa but you do pay extra for it. Despite their cost, anyone who is a fan of 109's and builds in 1/72, should get at least one of these excellent kits! This one is painted up as a JG54 Grunherz aircraft, in a fresh coat of winter whitewash over the camouflage. Please ignore the wonky headrest, I only noticed it after taking off the canopy mask!
