Hi all I recently received my v-force bundle from airfix but I want to talk about the avro vulcan b2 kit. I know there's differences in the jet tail exhausts and I was wondering, if I was to do it as XH558 would the kit out of the box be accurate for XH558 or would I need to make some modifications? If I do need to modify the kit what modifications would I need to do? I'm currently just planning the build out as I have a few other builds to do first so I'm trying to get and find information first. Thanks Ryan

Here's my first entry to this Very Big GB...I'll get into it sometime this week as soon as I have made some space on the bench. Even at 1/72nd scale this is enormous... This is the profile...I like the camo. Plus, it looks like the one they used in "Thunderball"...I know...the Bond Vulcan was a B.1A... Nice looking decals. Plenty of stencils... And here is the sprue...Gi-normous...still scratching my head and wondering if this isn't really 1/48th... --John

I've been beavering away on the KUTA XII GB for the past three months, finishing off the Airfix Avro Vulcan kit I started a few years ago. It was essentially built, but needed finishing and was the first model I have painted using an airbrush. The thread for this build is here: It was finished (in a bit of a hurry!) last night, 90 minutes before the deadline for the GB closed. Here a few images showing Avro's finest in all its glory: Plenty of mistakes along the way, but overall I'm happy with this model. Two minor annoyances though - I accidentally ripped two decals off the fin, which I thought were sealed behind a layer of varnish - they weren't! Also, regarding varnish, I was not happy with the finish in some areas. For example, the undercarriage door where the registration decal is placed - the finish is opaque, not clear. Not too sure why that happened? Please be gentle, this is my first RFI! 😁

Well in betwean the other things I have going on I can't resist making another one of these. I fancy doing a strike command Era Vulcan B2. I'm not sure which one yet as a few take my fancy. Maybe xm611 in 101sqn, or Xl392 from 617 Sqn, or maybe XM571 known as the "The Granny Basher" ! Love to know why that is ? Or maybe another one whatever it is im sure it won't be the last and I'd like one in the strike era scheme to sit next to my model of XL444 from last year. So once again we start with a box of bits. I'm doing this build down stairs in betwean resin castings too from one of my other threads Cheers Rob

Here's a quick render of my old Vulcan model, a while back. It's supposed to depict Vulcans coming in for landing, under a shady sky, that's it.. nothing like Skyraiders 3D moldelling stanfdards, I seem to work in a little looser and less strict stiyle than him. It's all just for fun for me, not professional work. The model is modelled and rendered in Luxology Modo with a little postrender work in Photoshop, exhausts an so on, I hope you like it, but comments are always velcome. (next perhaps I'll post my Heinkel 115 in RAF colours, taking off from the Coves.. )
