This was a kit that I searched for a long time. They are rare these days and often change hands at ridiculous prices. This one I got on a Swiss auction site for a reasonable price,not cheap though... It was the 1985 Revell issue. Its the same mouldings as the Otaki kit,just this time in the Airbus house color markings. The decals were yellowed,so I ordered a replacement set from BSmodelle. The cheatline on the new sheet seemed too wide,so I used the Revell ones instead and only used the numbers and the titles from the new sheet. The kit has only a few parts,not very detailed but it has nice recessed panel lines and the fit is mostly fine. I improved the engine outlets as the kit ones were plain and also wrong in design. Photos of the original showed the outlets are pretty roughly installed. This was created by using plastcard plates and tubes. After the assembly,the whole model was sprayed gloss black as a baae coat for the metallics. Here I used Testors aluminium and silver and Gunze duraluminium to give some nuances. I tried not to overdo it because the real thing has a quite smooth metal surface. Airbus used 4 Super Guppies for transporting all kinds of parts for the A300,A310 and probably also the A320. They served fom the mid 70s to the early 90s,when they got replaced with the bigger Airbus Beluga,which is a heavily modified A300-600. Super Guppy No.4 is still flying today,with NASA,while the others are preserved in Toulouse and Hamburg. One was lost in an accident. Alex

This is the first of 6 Boeing 767s that I built simultanously. Revell's Boeing 767 kit is already 30 years old and got recently a re-release as Chelsea Rose British Airways. For its age,the kit still stands up well,even compared to the newer Zvezda kit. It has fewer parts and is overall simpler in design but it captures the lines of the 767 quite well. For my conversion I used the first release kit from 1991,that came with Lauda and LTU Süd decals.(More on those builds later.. 😉) I had the ELAL decals for some years now and planned the build for a while,but other projects delayed the realisation. The decals were from Liveries Unlimited and seemed to be in perfect condition,but upon application they showed their age.They started to tear as soon as they came out of the water and were also quite stiff. A coat of liquid decal film solved the tearing but the stiffness remained...only careful application of softener helped,but then they started to tear up again. Lot of TLC along with foul language and careful touch-ups led to an acceptable result. The build and conversion itself were quite easy.5 windows in front and 5 behind the wings needed to be removed,then glue together the fuselage parts,followed with some filling and sanding and rescribe some lost panel lines. The parts all go together really well and the fit is overall excellent. Painted with Gunze and Tamyia paints and the white for the fuselage is Gunze white primer coated with Gunze Premium clear. I originally planned to build the first Boeing 767-200 of ELAL,4X-EAA,but when aplying the decals the letters "A" for the registration fell victim to the carpet monster,so the second 767 was chosen.As I found nice pictures from the delivery of the 767,I chose not to weather it and build it factory fresh. Hi everybody, I found out about them while looking for information about the quite ill fated Sólyom Airways (the one trying to step in after Malev’s demise). This is a pretty new outfit from Hungary, run by a couple of enthusiasts who design 1/144 scale decal sheets for ‘not your quite ordinary airline’. The quote marks are my doing simply because looking at their continuously expanding product list one can discover quite a range of low-cost and other exotic airlines from across the globe, many of which aren’t covered by other manufacturers. The decals are inkjet-printed [nicely too] and require a couple of coats of your preferred lacquer or – as the manufacturer recommends – a single coat of Microscale Decal Film before being put them into water and then onto your scale model. They are also compatible with Microsol and Microset should you find their usage necessary. An interesting aspect in my opinion is the way they design their sheets with logos being separated from the window decals. Also, he is quite open to suggestions and ideas as Wombats is looking to expand their product range. With most of their current offering addressed to the Classic 737 and to a couple of A320s, Wombats says to be working on some sheets covering the BAe 146, Fokker 100 and Boeing 757. And I have just spotted it as I wrote this: what about that humongous A380 in that colourfull Fifa World Cup livery (Emirates A6-EEQ)???
