Happy New Year guys. Here is my recently completed racer, a Heston Napier Type 5 using the Airframe vacuform kit in 1/72, build can be found here: The vacuform was of so-so quality and was quite thin in places so care had to be taken with any corrections that needed doing. The cockpit was scratch built, as was the undercarriage with wheels and propeller blades coming from the spares box. The build was very much a trial by combat with a couple of drops occurring during the whole process. When everything was made good, the Heston was painted with Alclad paints, a first for me. The supplied decals were Arctic Decals and were fantastic looking but having never dealt with this type of decal before, mistakes were made. Not my best by a long way and now lives in the display case albeit at the back. Stuart

With the Bugatti racer now completed, time to look at the next one. For no particular reason other than it jumped into my hand, I'm going to try my hand at a 1/72 vacuform , a Heston Type 5 Racer. Nice boxart. The plastic Can't go wrong with Arctic Decals Our resident monk @Moa RFI: will hopefully point me in the right direction. I have only ever done one vacuform but it was so long ago in 1/48, I can't remember any of it. I'm sure it'll be fun. Stuart

Hi guys, A friend of mine draw my attention to a small square "window" (or panel) on the fuel cover of some Spitfires (likely Mk IIs of Sq. 54). I was trying to find its use but could find no good shots or references on what they are there for. Here it is, just below the armoured glass, below the air scoop: And below, barely visible in Hendon´s Spit: If anybody has a hint on its use, please - I´d like very much to know! Cheers!

I voted for "Made In Britain" GB with Contrail Mayo Composite in mind, but knowing my pace and determination I'm not sure that I could complete the whole stack in time so I decided to do one step at time and start with Mercury. Contrail's Mayo Composite kit was a joint effort between Contrail and Airframe each providing one aircraft. Airframe S.20 moulds look very basic but buildable, will require a lot of scratch building, scribing and detailing to look right.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great Christmas, and are looking forward to Hogmanay! I am hoping to build the kit below, it is to be kind very basis, so wanted some advice on sourcing strutts and decals and also any reference photos. Any help guidance or commiserations gratefully received ! I'm going to do this as part of the BM airliner Group Build, so hope to see plenty more "old timers" getting built. Kind regards Pat
