Adolf Galland's Me 262A-1a (Revell 1:32)

After fighting this kit in the early build phase, I was able to complete it to a decen standard. The difficult areas were the engine nacelles and the wings to fuselage area. The first one was solved by applying CA to the gaps, and the latter by sanding the upper portion of the wheel wells until the wings fitted without gaps. Would I build another 1:32 Me 262 from Revell? Well, now that I know the poor areas of the kit, I'd definitely give a go to the original nightfighter B-1a/U1. If you want a better fitting kit, then the Trumpeter one is for you (and me too). The last photo has Galland's autobiography (left) and a book about his life in Argentina (right).-

I really wasn’t intending to join this build (am currently doing a couple of 1/48th Eduard Bf-109G’s for club build) but this wee beastie showed up in my stash, from said club meet a couple of months ago…… ….and yes I do seem to be suffering from size problems of late….. you know it’s bad when you start complain it’s too big! I have to say it’s a beautiful looking model of an early BF-109E produced superbly by Eduard. Plus with a couple extra resin goodies thrown in for good measure. One of which include a wee “Dolfo” himself…complete with cigar. Painting him will be the biggest challenge of this build! So for course the scheme has to be one of his steeds. I have to admit I am a big fan of Adolf Galland, I have just about every book written about him plus numerous paintings (reproductions) signed by him. So this will be a very nice addition to the collection. This will be a straight OOB build, so it should be a nice and quick one. If time permits (and it never does) I have a 1/48th Bf-109B1 flown by Gotthard Handrick (Olympic Gold Medallist) which I really must finish as well….time will tell. -
After finishing the Revell 1:32 Fw 190A-8/R11, I decided to tackle Tamiya's Bf 109E-3 in 1:48. Started it on 22/4 and finished it earlier today. I like that Tamiya provided the option for the flaps and slats down, it gives character to the model. And here are two photos of my Airfix Bf 109E-4/N in 1:48, built too as Adolf Galland's aircraft.

After becoming frustrated with ICM/Revell´s Mustang Mk.III in 1:48 (and sending it to my spares box with most pieces on their sprue), I decided to pull this model out of my stash and build it as a relaxing build, which it was! The model offers the flaps and slats in the down position, and you can pose them up by cutting their respective mounting tabs. However, while removing the tab of one slat, I also removed a chunk of it, which was repaired by filling the area with CA. I also feared that, due to how thin the plastic on the slats was, that the plastic would damage if I used regular glue, so I used CA to glue the slats.

I have the Hs123 from Gaspatch in the stash and looks like it will be next up. I intend to build Galland’s aircraft in the RLM 61/62/63 over 65 scheme. Looking at the colour call outs, I cannot discern the colour of the upper and lower wing and support leading edges? I thought RLM 70? TIA and regards,

Someone offered me this kit as an alternative to the more expensive Hasegawa 109E with a Galland resin body, so I wanted to know your opinions about it regarding the type of plastic, the quality of the decals, fit, and particularly the size of the sprue gates (if you had any troubles removing the parts from the sprues). Any comment is appreciated.
