Hello! I've started a quite unusual project for myself, the Mig-29 is one of my favorite aircraft but I only have this old, inaccurate Revell kit from 1988 (Tsukuda tooling I believe). This is the third time that I am building this kit, as I bought 3 of these at a time when my local hobby shop was closing its doors. I want to try to correct the inaccurate shapes to make it look like a decent Mig-29, at least from a far... I also decided to join this forum so that others can see what can be done with this kit, only by scratch building without any aftermarket parts. I have seen many posts on the web about this kit, but none talked about ways to make it look more true to shape. I am using plans found on the web to guide me on how to reshape the fuselage and the control surfaces, though I haven't found all the angles for the early 9-12 so the final result may end up being something of a 9-12 - 9-13 hybrid. Panel lines will be a big problem that I may end up ignoring in some places if there ends up to be too much work, especially on the wings that have been shortened and the ailerons, flaps, etc. don't line up where they should. The first stage of correcting the general shape of the fuselage and control surfaces is done. Next step is going to be scratch building the empty tub cockpit and the main gear bays before the assembly of the upper and lower fuselage. I'll make another post after this assembly is done

Hello, dear modeler I have found myself, that I am very critical of kits. Even I have often exaggerated the subject in the exuberance of my detailed knowledge and often spoiled the joy of other modeler. It was never intended that way. From today's perspective, I would proceed fundamentally differently. 1) There are kits that just don't fit. These kits have to be made to fit. This is then the job that you may place in the forum with good experiences and ideas. 2) On the other end of the flagpole is the perfect kit. Where everything fits and everything is correct. Well, does this perfect kit even exist? With the perfect instructions? From today's perspective, I can say that it is more like that, you think you have the perfect kit, but after the build there is usually a certain disillusionment. 3) Of course, there is also the wrong kit. Where variant details are all mixed up, or significant details are simply missing. Basically, the main dimensions should be correct and the shape reasonably correct. We should make sure that we could keep the joy and even increase the joy. Modeling should be fun. You can badmouth anything, but please consider: What is correct? With all today's tools, whether CAD or CAM, you will not be able to create a correct model of a Bf-109. The math and geometry speak clearly against it. This requires the patience and knowledge of a Leonardo or of a Michelangelo of the 21st century. As model builders, we have to compromise on accuracy. The extent to which the accuracy is compromised is individual. This also applies to accessories. Many of them that are on the market today do not even deserve this name. A very small range of these companies really produce a quality with which you can upgrade your model exceptionally. In the criticism, the photos of the original (year of design and construction and version) often do not match what the kit’s manufacturer or the accessory parts promises. Careful research is essential. But, we shouldn't put too many burdens on ourselves. I was often lost in a pile of books about an aircraft type or in 1000 self-made photos of an aircraft. I have to force myself to take a more relaxed approach to the matter. We can also talk endlessly about colors, nuances of colors. Our goal is to generate joy and we should keep that in mind. Happy modelling

Hi all, I see that Hataka has the new formula British WW2 AFV colour set (NW Europe) - AS22. Any information about the accuracy of the colours, especially the G3 and G4 colours? They have a free shipping on 6+ individual paint bottle orders untill the Feb 28th. TIA Vedran

Looking to build a couple of the Heller kits of the Canadair 415 but can find little about the accuracy of the kit. I remember reading somewhere, sometime, that the position of the engines is correct for the 215 but that the 415's engines should be mounted slightly further outboard - does anyone know if this is correct? Many thanks
