  1. Good afternoon. This RFI is a long time coming. The first of many for the year 2020 / 2021. Straddled both years but spent most of its time in 21 so here it goes. The kit was a joy to put together and I had a lot of fun along the way. Here is the WIP for those who would like to see. And for those who followed along. A heart felt thankyou for all the support. A special thankyou must go to @Nikolay Polyakov for sending me the rivets set and so much more during the winter of 2020. A true gent and I do miss him here on BM. If you're around gimmie a poke and let me know you're ok. Any way it's been long enough. Here are the shots. And that's your lot. I do hope it was worth the wait and I hope you like the way she turned out. Gotta run I have a years worth of RFI's to post up. Take care and as always happy modelling. Johnny.
  2. I want to start a second build. It will be the 1/2700 Revell Imperial Star destroyer. It is from origin a Zvesda kit that Revell has reboxed. It will be straight from the box. I think that the most work will go into the painting. Here are the pictures. The box and content. I have already made a first start, with mating the front and back hull parts. It is massive. The length is 60 centimeters. This now kneeds to dry before I can go further. Cheers,
  3. Hi guys; I finished this Zvezda 1/72 last December. I used Mig acrylics and Eduard PE set. I really liked this kit, but I had difficulties with Mig paints. Here some photos: Cheers;
  4. So I am trying to break my own record and attempting a third build for this GB. Inspired by Nigels Helix build I thought I would go for one of these I picked it up from my LHS for 15 bucks (about 7 1/2 English Pounds). I haven't bothered with a spru shot as most items were kicking around the box (probably why it was cheaper!) I did a quick check in the shop and it looked like all was there, so standby near the end of the build when I discover something important missing! I am not an aficionado on Russian Helo's and I won't be paying too much attention on the interior, as long as it looks ok that will be fine. The canopy is a bit chunky and thick so it wont show a great deal. I built up the cockpit and replaced the yaw pedals as they will be right next to a window. This was primed and painted, the seats were painted up with a leathery type effect I also removed the grilled areas on the fuselage, thinned it down and fitted my new favourite mesh material....not tea bags but wedding sugared almond bags! Does the job well! And from the outside looks fine This area was then painted black and boxed in, again inside painted black. I also fitted the cockpit at this stage, without the console. Next up I joined the fuselage and left that aside. Looking at the rest of the kit I saw these sink marks that would ruin the look of the rudders. I don't know how to fill these without losing the rivet detail......so opted to remove the lot! Unfortunately I don't have any more progress pictures. I thought I had uploaded more but alas no, so they will appear later. Finally I turned my attention to the handles all over the fuselage. Nigels build gives a good detail on how these are made. Most are like the 'one piece tube type' but there are a couple on the side that are made up of welded parts, so I thought I would see if I could replicate that. I cut loads of .4mm brass wire and rolled straight with a rule. I then positioned them accordingly on a ceramic tile like so......with a couple of practice pieces And then it was out with my new toy! YES! I have been suckered into getting a soldering iron! It seems to be the way ahead with so I plumped for it. Now being of mechanical sense I have no knowledge or experience with this so got one off Amazon with some solder and we'll start from there. After a couple of hours practice (and burning ones hand!) I managed to get somewhere abd tried to do the rod. I think it is too thin to solder but I did manage to get some adhesion. I haven't tidied the joins up yet so the jury is still out. A lot of trial and error (more error than trial though) and I may make use of it! Any way here is the final shot Not sure how it will go so stay tooned! Bob
  5. Hello all, A Zvesda wargaming 1/144 scale kit to play around with some techniques as part of a group build on another website specialising in 1/144 scale models. Comments welcome and questions answered.... Happy Modelling all Ian
  6. Good day everyone out there! I bought the said kit last year and it goes along nicely with my slowly growing collection of Russian Airliners. My first was the gorgeous TU-154 but this was ruined by the utterly poor decals. I have decided that I would like a fleet of Aeroflot aircraft in the silver and blue livery, so with that regard has anyone used the kit decals with the Zvesda A-320? They do look alot better than what I have come accros before, and are certainly alot better defined. My problem is I don't want to risk a repeat of my 154 fiasco after spending ages masking and spraying. So has anyone used the kit decals and how successful were they? Much obliged Bob
  7. Dear Fellow Modellers Here is the Zvesda Bf109F-2 kit with Master Models MG.17 barrels and Eduard PE interior. Using the Mushroom Model publication I added some panel lines and rivets to the upper wing surfaces. Markings are for 9/JG54 of Hans-Ekkehard Bob (quite a name) Hope you like it? Andrew
  8. Here are my recently finished models of two ill-fated russian submarines - the K-19, that suffered severe reactor damage back in 1961 (I think it was) and K-141, tragically lost in the Barents Sea in 2000. K-19 is first.
