One of a pair of specially prepared Meteor F3s which were brought up to near F4 standard for an attempt on the World's Air Speed record. "Yellow Peril" was believed for a long time to be overall yellow but close examination of photos shows certain areas were left unpainted. This is the Special Hobby kit straight out of the box. Thanks for looking. Steve

Hey you guys. I have decided that my next build is going to be something a little less, well just less than the Prowler. I was going to build a Tamiya or Later Airfix kit as I needed something where the parts actually fit together like how a model should. While eyeing the stash this wonderful yellow bi plane jumped up and begged me to build it. I bought it on E-Bay a few weeks back along with a Tri plane for £5 I read a little info about it and I was hooked. http://www.boeing.com/history/products/stearman-kaydet-trainer.page Affectionately called "The Yellow Peril" I was powerless to resist. I checked and there seems to be not that many work in progress builds of this lovely bird so I decided there and then. Originally I wanted to build this OOB but as you an I both know that's never going to happen. So any way here we go with my WIP of The Stearman KAYDET by Revell in the gentleman's scale. First up we have the obligatory box shot. Look how Ace it looks. The sprews and decals. Everything looks great, we have some raised panel lines a bit of flash but nothing that cant be, ahem, fixed. As this was going to be OOB I thought I'd start with the office. Yup that's it.feast your eyes on the details. So much for the OOB. So scratch build office it is. I'm not going to go cRaZy as you can't see in that much. First off a Plasticard floor. then a bit of detail added and a test fit of the seats. The Non existent IP needed to be improved so due to the success of the "remove before flight" tags on the prowler I got a photo from the web scaled it in Photoshop and shaped it roughly right, then scaled it to 1/72. next upwas to glue them to some primed plasticard and paint em up. No too bad, I think at "the gentleman's scale" they will work rather well. Now I know those seats are a thing of beauty and their delicate molding is in itself exquisite I felt I needed to add a little more. First off sides. Next will be detailed padding made from milliput nut It'll have to wait until next time I'm affraid. I hope you will enjoy watching this lovely bird come together, I'm having great fun already building her. Take care Y'all and as always. Happy modelling. Johhny.

Hi all, as the title says I like to contribute with the Meteor EE455 "Yellow Peril" (also called "Forever Amber") in 1:48 scale. EE455 was one of two F.3 Meteors which were modified on production line for a speed record attempt (the other was EE454 called "Britania"). Both got the F.4 Rolls-Royce Derwent engines but otherwise kept the F.3 wings. with rounded and longer wing tips. Guns and other equipment were removed, both jets got modifications on the canopy and so on. On November 7 1945 EE455 broke the world speed record (966 km/h) but within the same day EE454 set the mark to 976 km/h. EE455 was the Gloster aircraft in a bright Trainer Yellow livery with Union Jack on the nose sides, while EE454 was the RAF machine in standard camouflage ( ). The only thing which was a bit more interesting on EE454 was the canopy. Here is a pic of EE455 and what areas need attention (well - what I spotted so far): And here is what I like to throw in: So the kit is started but I think it should be within the rules. Please let me know if it does not. Other than the Classic Airframes kit there are Baracuda cast small bore intakes, Dutch Decals (IIRC including the Yellow Peril) and a yellowed Aeroclub canopy. I am not sure if the latter one will be used. I will try to get rid of the yellow tint but have no clue yet how. Rene
