  1. I’ve always been a fan of the Yak-28, so when Bobcat released their Yak-28PP I had to snap one up. Plastic looked good but the instructions were daunting, so it took some while to get going. Fit of parts was generally good, but I’m afraid that the engine nacelles were absolutely awful. Brute force, ignorance and 240 Grit won the day, and then it was onto the paint….. I found that the camouflage scheme in the instructions was impossible to interpret, so I resorted to letting the airbrush run free – at least until I put paint in it! I’m afraid that I struggled to get to grips with the AV Vallejo paints that I used, and I’ll be the first to admit that it was purely down to my technique – I didn’t have one. The upper surfaces were sprayed freehand, and then I made the mistake of spraying the underside with faded blue. At this point, the kit ended up being banished to the Shelf of Doom as this colour looked too dark to me. Fast forward ten months and I pulled out a tin of Colourcoats Light Grey, and hey presto – log-jam gone. Other bits and pieces used : · sections of the Eduard etch set for the interior of the Yak-28P Firebar · Eduard masking set for the clear bits on the Yak-28PP (an absolute must) · Quickboost Landing lights · Quickboost front-end fans · Quickboost Exhaust gondolas · Scale Aircraft Conversions Landing gear (only used for the outriggers because the kit parts come moulded with the wheels) · Aerobonus pilot figure · Coastal kits base Thanks for dropping by - hope you like it. mike

  3. After the Yak-28P "Firebar" ( http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234980742-148-yakovlev-yak-28p-firebar-by-bobcat-model-ex-xuntong-cadstest-build/ ) Bobcat Hobby Model Kits (formerly Xuntong Model) is to release a 1/48th Yak-28PP "Brewer-E" - ref. 48002. And if sales figures are ok Bobcat might also propose Yak-28 R, I & N kits. Source: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4583846642 V.P.

  6. Original source: Andreas Beck thread on Hyperscale Jet age forum - http://www.network54.com/Forum/624633/mess...link+inside+! If the pictures published today by Flugzeugforum are true, the Czech company Hippo Models ( http://hippomodels.sweb.cz/ ) is to issue a 1/48th Yakovlev Yak-28P Firebar kit. http://www.flugzeugforum.de/forum/showthre...s-YAK-28-P-1-48 Pictures sources: http://scalemodels.ru/news/3389-novinka-Hippo-Models--1-48-jak-28.html http://www.flugzeugforum.de/forum/showthre...s-YAK-28-P-1-48 Let's hope it's not a fake. Cross our fingers. First "evidence" on the Luchtvaart Hobby Shop homepage at Schipol (NL) - also known as The Aviation Megastore. http://www.aviationmegastore.com/yakovlev-...&art=101338 It is also reported that this kit was announced two months ago on a Russian forum http://scalemodels.ru/news/2740-novinka-Hi...-48-jak-28.html I've a request a 1/48th Yak-28R and Yak-28PP and, why not, later a injected 1/48th Il-28 Beagle. V.P.
  7. Along with the Il-40, I ordered this reissue of the AModel Yak-28PP last week (still to arrive) which contains a monograph on the subject: http://www.modelimex.com/1-72-yak-28pp-publication Searching for information on the publication revealed that it was a walkaround by V. Roman (http://www.aeroteca.com/continguts/productes.php?llengua=en&codi=11729)). How authoritative is it, and does it contain 1/72 scale plans? Thanks in advance for your replies.
