Hello chums. Welcome to my latest build. “WONGA BONGA” Said Ced. 🐪 1/32 Sopwith F.1 Camel “Clerget” by Wing nut Wings. This build comes about because of the kindness, sharing and friendship of the wonderful human beings that frequent our beautiful modelling site. “BritModeller” A few months ago I had my eye on a WnW sopwith camel kit on the Bay. I had always fancied building one of these wonderful kits but the price point always sent me off with my tail between my legs. This particular one was on offer at roughly double the original price, but still not as bad as I had seen them. I got in touch with a few of my close BM buddies and asked a few questions on whether they considered the WnW kits in high regard. The answer was a resounding yes but they are pretty pricy. Our very own @CedB got in touch privately after admitting he had the very same kit in his stash and offered it up for what he had paid. (Half of the auction cost) After much too and fro “you sure?” “Don’t be silly” etc. we decided to do the deed and to hand over plastic when we met up with a bunch of the lads at the West Midlands Aircraft Museum earlier this year. A lovely day was had and much swapping of items occurred. Someone even got a rather large Lancaster I believe. 🙉🙈🙊 Anyway upon handing over the kit, a wooden jig, colour coats paint, rigging wire, PE buckles and eyelets. Mr B proclaimed that he wouldn’t be taking any payment and hoped I enjoyed making the kit. I obviously protested but he wouldn’t have any of it. So away I went with a fat slice of kindness in the shape of a rather nice WWI fighter. Now I have pretty much caught up all my builds I can start the wonder that is this kit. So dedicated to the kindness of one : Mr Cedric Bufton. I hopefully won’t make a right pigs ear of a really rather special model. Bench cleared in ritual fashion and box sat on a clean cutting mat. I hope you’ll join me in an exciting journey. Thanks for looking in and as always. Happy modelling. Johnny. 🐪

Recently completed this for a club group build. Really nice kit & nice to do something that I wouldn't normally build. Eduard 1/48 kit & I decided to build "Wonga Bonga". Named as such because the Gotha G.IV bombers which these attacked were given the knickname Wonga, & Bonga is what these did to them! B3834 FL Arthur F. Brandon August 22 1917. All completely built out of the box without any extras & rigged using the 1/72/1/48 gauge EZ line stretch rigging material. Mostly painted with Vallejo paints & chose 71.041 & added a small amount of dark green to it for the dark mahogany colour for the fuselage & upper wings. Vallejo Metal Color Aluminium was used on the engine cowling. All wing ribs were masked & preshaded & an oil wash was applied to the underside linen colur. Final matt coat was the XXL Matt by VMS.
