  1. On signing up, my original plan was an Airfix 1/48 Hunter in Dutch markings. On looking at the original sign up list, I saw that drew the Romanian flag. Knowing knext to nothing about the Romanian armed forces, but being that my sister-in-law’s brother’s wife is Romanian, this got me thinking, so I went off to do some research and some shopping followed. Romania became a member on the 29th March 2004. Having a look on Scalemates I came across the 1/48 Wolfpack MiG-21 LanceR with schemes from 2007 and 2009. Result. The Mig 21 officially was retired from the Romanian Airforce on the 15th May 2023 The Wolfpack LanceR is based on the Academy plastic with added resin from Wolfpack. Don’t know much about the Academy plastic, having only built Eduard MiG-21s to date. So what do you get in the box? Academy Plastic Lots of nice resin.
  2. Hi! Here is my 1:72 North American T-2C Buckeye, serial 158889, 120th Air Training Wing, Hellenic Air Force, Kalamata AB, Greece 2007. Wolfpack kit "out of the box" with some scratch. Painted with Gunze Mr.Hobby C series. Thanks for watching!
  3. This is the Wolfpack 1/48 P47D (old Hasegawa kit?) kitted out in the Brazilian airforce colours as flown by Ten. Alberto Martins Torres, Red Squadron, 1st GAVCA (Fighter Aviation Group) Italy, 1944. The kit is built completely OOB using Tamiya paints with Windsor & Newton Matt acrylic varnish. I must admit that I'd never heard of Wolfpack models before so it was a really nice surprise to find the kit easy to assemble and one of the few that didn't cause me any problems at all.
  4. Well I hope everyone had a nice addition to their stashes over the holidays. I requested a 'Wolfpack' F14A for a couple of reasons. I have fond memories of building an Airfix version when I was a teenager, and this Tomcat adorns the front of my old and well thumbed 'Encyclopedia of World Air Power' that I have had since I was a teenager. This is the 4th model I've started since rediscovering modelling (only one completion so far but another coming very soon)... Obligatory picture of boxes and sprues... I'll be working with my 10 year old son on this one. This is my second Hobby Boss kit and one of the things I've noticed is the information on colours / details for the cockpit, engine fans other internals etc is a bit lacking. I'll be having a look at other builds and other model make instructions. Plan is straight out of box... Hand brush with thinned enamels. I'm sure I'll be asking questions along the way... Off to the local model shop to pick up a few colours I need and hopefully make a start with a little assembly and painting today...
  5. This is Hasegawa's 1/72 Douglas EKA-3B Skywarrior. The EKA-3B was a multi-use aircraft that performed both in air refueling and radar tracking and jamming functions. The basic kit is from 1997 reboxed in 2008 with additional parts added for the EKA-3B version. Like many aircraft of its time period the slats were controlled by aerodynamic forces not hydraulics or mechanical actuators, so they would always be dropped on the ground. I wanted to drop them on and while I don't usually build kits with folded wings, but because they were available, had separate droppable slats, and to save shelf space I used a set of Folding wings from Wolfpack. I also used an interior from Obscureco, and and PrintScale decals. The kit was typical '90 Hasegawa with generally good fit and a somewhat simplistic interior. Obscureco makes a resin interior (OBS72023) that includes parts for several A-3 versions, including the EKA-3B. The interior was a pretty much drop in fit, had nice details and included very nice seats. I used it in conjunction with the kit control panel decals where possible. The Wolfpack wings were not as drop in as their F-18 wings were that I have used in the past. They required removing the upper wing halves from the kit one piece upper wing. The cuts were along panel lines were easy to make, and once done only requires a little sanding to fit them in. Here is a picture of them attached. The kit decals were not usable. In addition to "foxing" on the paper, even the control panel ones I tried to use mostly disintegrated even with a coat of Microfilm. After my previous success in taming PrintScale decals with Microfilm I ordered their 72-109 sheet confident that I would succeed again. However this time it was an epic fail with the decals curling up and refusing to stick or lay down even with copious amounts of Solvaset. So I frantically searched through my pile of used decals for something that would work only to find that I had another partial copy of the same sheet that I had used on a previous A-3 build, and that had all the EKA-3B markings intact. I tried these and they actually worked like normal decals should without the usual sticking like glue to the first position they touched and no rolling into a ball when moved. So here it is: Next up will be my attempt to build a Leonardo TH-73A using the Revell A-109 kit and parts from a die cast Agusta A119 . Wish me luck. Enjoy
  6. My next lockdown model is now officially finished I used the Eduard photo-etched set, together with metal gear from Scale Aircraft Conversion [SAC-72106]. I must admit some of the parts were particularly fiddly like the arresting hook and the bits and pieces for the landing gear (as shown by the close-up shots). For the high visibility markings I used MM Semigloss Orange #1595. Overall, I am really satisfied how it turned out. Enjoy!
  7. Hi all, The Northrop T-38 Talon has always been a favourite of mine since I glimpsed its sleek, white silhouette on an ITC Models box art back in the early 1960's. Now sixty years on, Wolfpack Design has released what is generally considered as the definitive T-38A model kit. It's the day of reckoning! Here's my build with a few modelling notes that I hope you will find helpful and entertaining. First the kit. The Wolfpack Talons come in several boxings – standard USAF, NASA, ROC AF, ... I chose the limited edition Holloman AFB which has a few extra over the regular ones notably resin detailed seats, a metal pitot tube and a fret of photoetchings. The only aftermarket item I used is the resin FOD intake cover set from Def Model. The subject. It's a USAF training service T-38A in blue and white color scheme as it appeared briefly in 1986-1987. To me it's the most striking livery ever sported by this already elegant jet. You can find some additional info about this particular colour scheme HERE and HERE. Get ready, Cheers, Quang
  8. My first completion of 2019. The Wolfpack T-38A Talon completed as an aircraft of the 64 FWS, 57 FWW in 1975. In the early days of DACT, the 57 FWW used the Talon to simulate early Soviet jets like the Mig-17 and to a lesser extent Mig 21. The decals came from Caracel. As usual with me, a couple of mess ups. Caracel note this as an AT-38. In effect, the only real difference in this scale would be a Gunsight. I have a few decent pictures of the T-38A in this scheme, including one of this very aircraft. For some reason, in my head, I got them mixed up and referenced a different aircraft and believed that the one I was modelling was a standard T-38A. In fact it looks on closer inspection that Caracel were right. oh well - no gunsight on mine! The Wolfpack kit is not too bad but is another of those good in parts efforts - fit is generally OK but the surface detail is very fine and runs out to nothing in places. One tip if you want this kit is to go for the 'Holloman AFB" boxing which includes a few extra goodies in PE, resin seats and metal pitot which are all excellent. I did use part of an Eduard set which I was given for the cockpit. The Caracel decals worked with no problem but I do have a couple of issues - why provide decals for an aircraft that no kit exists (without conversion) - then I wouldn't have been so confused and I believe they based the decals on an early scheme which had no names on the canopy rail and no 57FWW badge on the intake - bothe of which appeared later. Anyway - it is what it is. I hope you like it. Cheers Malcolm
  9. I have been looking at the Wolfpack parts for the Airfiv Vulcan. These include the engine intakes, landing gear chambers. They look great on the internet. Has anyone worked with these? How do you find them in actual use? How do they compare to the Flightpath items? Thanks so much. I posted elsewhere but didn't get much information. Randy
  10. Hi, some of you may have seen them in Telford, now my new T-38 wheel sets are ready to order through my web shop as well. I've made two separate sets, an early and a late type, the early is applicable for T-38A's (through to the 80's), the late to more recent T-38A's and the newer T-38C's. Both are mainly designed for the Wolfpack kit, but may fit (or adjusted to) other kits. Dimensions true to scale and detail is extremely fine, especially on the brake assemblies. The early type set: The late type set: Both types of nose wheels are included in each set: Many thanks Jeffrey
  11. Alright all, I still am not absolutely convinced about my goals here, and it may be something of a movable feast. I should also point out that I'm going to be frightfully busy until Christmas. A retail job isn't bad except when you actually have to work The leading contenders at present are: A) Wolfpack T-38A, probably in NASA markings (thus far this is the kit that I think gets it most right, of which more later) B ) Kinetic F-5B, possibly in home-grown Turkish Stars markings, as done here (such a sexy airframe seems to deserve better than your usual fatigues...) I seem to like the curvy, dolphiny two-seaters better than the "dart" shape of the single-seaters, and anyway, if you're going to fly one of the all time great "aerial sports cars" wouldn't you want to be able to bring that special someone? C) Nevertheless, it does occur to me that if I'm going to do the Kinetic B, I might as well do the A alongside (another Turkish Star, or?), so that's a possibility, especially if I D) Hope to end up with some spare parts with which to tart up the ancient Fujimi F-5B- not that I would try to make it pass for a state of the art kit, but rather just have some fun and see what I can do with it. Or use it as the "test mule" before I get in my own way with one of the "good" kits! Potential party-crashers are Monogram F-5E or F-20, and AFV Club F-5F, while a Trumpeter T-38A might appear too, if only as a sacrifice to the modelling gods. Next up will probably be some "this compared to that" stuff, just because I enjoy this sort of exercise. And then I suppose there'll be nothing for it but to start slathering grey and black paint on the stuff what goes inside... bob
  12. Well after much thought I decided on something nice and simple and looked what showed up in the post today! Wolfpack’s F-5A Shoshi Tiger, well a tarted up Kinetic model, and that was/is a beautiful model! I was lucky enough to find one in South Korea that was going for a price just too good to not get one. Even after postage it was nearly ½ the price of similar Kinetic/Wolfpack ones on evilBay…bargan! So this will be close to a OOB build (we shall see on this point….) though I do have some Eduard PE interior bits on the way… and still thinking about the external PE set as well! The model looks amazing with some lovely extra bits, though I only have two choices in the markings. ooooo so lovely!!!!!! Actually it's the other colour scheme....took photo of the wrong one! Well I have to get the Meteor out of the way first but I will be pushing quite hard to get this build out of the way as I will be in Europe for 4 weeks over the Xmas/NY period so no modelling for me! I can’t wait to start this one!
  13. Ive got a few of these as well. So will probably start off with a couple of Wolfpack boxings of the RF-5A and the F-5A which I believe is the old ESCI kit. I may add a F-5B and F-5E/N.
  14. So I finally got round to finishing off the second of the Gnats I was working on. This time I built her in a slightly different scheme LAG/Dayglo. I decals are a mix of kit and some generic RAF numbers to alter the serials. This build was based on a single photo I found of the aircraft, there a few things I got wrong or wish I had done different/better, but on the whole I think she turned out ok. I meant to build FOD covers but to be honest I just wanted it off the bench towards the end so I didn't bother. Anyway here are the pics of her and finishing with the pair together: - Not sure if the pics are the right size so if they're too small let me know and I will get them changed to larger images! Edit - I used the Wolfpack bangseats and a Pavla canopy too!
  15. Hello everyone, First time posting a model here, after several months following Britmodeller's forums. I hope you like it! Thank you! Best, Ricardo And here is a picture of the real one

  17. Hey everyone, Here's my first RFI (and first Tomcat) for this year, Hasegawa's original 1970s-era issue. You can read the WIP here but in summary: Model: Hasegawa JS-134 in 1/72 Build: OOB mostly but the seats & cockpit got some minor tarting up Decals: VF-1 Wolfpack from the later Hasegawa 04039 boxing Paint: White sprayed (Halfords), otherwise brush painted with Revell Acrylics. Future, Pro-Modellers wash, Humbrol Satin varnish She's not perfect, has a few goofs here and there and won't win any awards. But for a 70's kit, I'm really happy with it. Now on to my next Tomcat! Thanks for looking, Dermot
