1/72 Welsh Models P-8A Poseidon complete. The build consisted of scratch building the weapons bay, weapons mounting points onbthe wings and pylons, many of the ESM and AMS lumps and antennas. I also added various vent blow in doors and the sonobuoy tubes. I reshaped a lot of the kit supplied parts as well. Finally I added Harpoons from a Hasegawa weapons set and Mk48 Torpedoes from a Hasegawa P-3C Orion, they looked close enough to me to replicate the Mk54s the P-8 carries. Decals were from a custom sheet DekLs created by upsizing their 1/200 sheet and it was painted in mainly SMS lacquers. It is a bit rough in some parts but I have spent enough time on it and am calling it finished.

Hi there, pulling out some shelf of doom oddities. This one is the Welsh models vacform kit that I begun.... 2014?? I really can't remember anymore 🤔 having a soft spot for Luxair birds (first time I flew in an airplane was 1996 from Luxembourg to Frankfurt in a 737-500) and having also a soft spot for Vacform kits I startet numerous Welsh kits in the past. Non of them made it to the finish line 🙄 So, having what I can only describe as a manic episode concerning my modeling motivation I dug this one out and see how far I can get with it before I lose all my modeling motivation and dive into my other interests (watches, guitar)... I recently received the nice new 1/144th Mark1 kit of the Avro/HS/BAe* 748, with a view to using aftermarket decals on it. A quick check soon revealed a problem though. Comparing it with my Welsh kit showed a noticeable difference in size, in fact the Welsh vac-form fuselage fits neatly inside the Mark1 kit. I don't know which is more accurate, but I like both. It's just that older decal sheets were designed for the Welsh kit. *Choose your preferred nomenclature Dave

Well, she's finished. You can find the build report here. Not my best build, but I'm pleased with it considering the small scale. This Resin model kit by Welsh is very nice with an excellent fit. I did add some extra details, such as the engine exhausts, various other details on the engines, the direction finder loop antennae and other antennae. I scratched the forward landing gear strut as I found the original to be too thick. The window and cockpit decals are also made by me. And as a bonus a comparison shot with my A330. The diameter of the engine intakes of the A330 is bigger than the fuselage of the Jetstream 41! Thanks for looking and see you next time! Regards, Martijn

My newest build will be the BAE Jetstream 41. The 41 is a further development of the Jetstream 31, although it's more of a new aircraft then a simple stretch. The 41 is 4,88 meter longer than the 31 and can fit 29 passengers. It is a direct competitor of the EMB-120 and DO-328. 100 aircraft were build of the 41 (compared to 386 of the 31). Production stopped after 5 years in 1997. The 41 is still operational, though in Europe the only operators are Eastern Airways and Sky Express. Anyway this is going to be the build: The kit is from Welsh. The parts are from resin and metal. There aren't many parts, so I don't think the build will take a lot of time. I have to say the resin is very well cast, although the engines and wings lack detail. No worries, because with some scratch building, decaling and weathering, one can improve the model quite a bit. Instruction manual The flight deck and window decals are once more made by me. While I was at it, I made the -31 flight deck decals as well (the 31 is also available by Welsh, which I also have in the stash). Allright, let's get started! Firstly I have attached the metal nose and the vertical stabilizer. The fit is really excellent! The flap track fairings have been removed from the base (which went easier than expected (and glued on the wings. Added putty to the nose and vertical stabilizer. The model will be only 13 cm long. Compare that to my recent A330-300 build! I added a bit of styrene to the engines to give a little bit more detail to them I always find it hard to make the direction finder loop antennae. I usually make them out of styrene, but I find it hard to sand round or oval because they are so small. I decided on a different approach this time. I used small droplets of superglue on the fuselage. I will let them harden and then sand a bit afterwards. I also sanded the nose and vertical stabilizer meanwhile. The first priming round! Little bit of sanding of the direction finder loop antennae and after priming it a second time, it does give me the result I was looking for (although not really visible on the picture) I used a small straw to make the engine exhausts The result after priming. And that's the status at the moment! If all goes whel, she should be finished before the end of the year!

I finally found some time to start this build. This is going to be my first WIP and my very first mixed media kit so let's hope I don't mess this up... Let's see what we have in the box: The overall level of detail is pretty good with fine panel lines on both the fuselage and the resin parts. The metal castings are also quite decent, though I'll have to find replacements for the NLG wheels... Decals are from TwoSix with a separate tiny sheet containing the white markings.

Now that my aftermarket engines have arrived from Welsh Models I can finally do a side-by side comparison. While I do not make any definitive claim that the Welsh Models engines are 100% accurate, they are most definitely smaller than the Roden kit engines. I'll leave this image with you and let you make the judgement which suits you best. The Welsh engine is above the Roden. It's interesting how the two manufacturers treat the aft pylon extension. It's a shame that the Roden engines are so large, because otherwise they're very nicely detailed.

This is the most difficult I ever built so far. Assembling vacform for me is very hard. Lots of sanding and modifications I applied.Be the judge of the result. I decided to discotinue at the moment building this model.
