Hi there Let me present my model of a helicopter that flies over my house a few days a week. This is the latest Airfix Seaking made with the addition of the fantastic Whirlybirds conversion set. This set includes all the resin and brass parts as well as the Vingtor Seaking decal sheet needed to make either and early, or present day Seaking. The Whirlybirds set instructions cover 4 sides of A4 and are very complete. The special Norwegian Seaking parts include: SARBE beacon Liferafts Large radome on the back. This needs a bit of fettling to get it to sit right Twin winches. The winch units are resin and the supports are PE. These need ar but of shortening to get them both in the right place. FLIR on the port nose Nose radome The Vingtor decals are superb, there must be around 80 stencils and the placement guide is perfect. The helicopter was painted with enamels. Humbrol 192 was used for the dayglo in seceral thin layers. Some differential weathering using thin white overspray was done to match how these look in real life. Some diluted Tamiya Smoke was used for the exhoust marks. The Airfix set comes with the option of folded blades. The centre 3 blades were OK but the outer pair needed to be cut off at the root to get the correct angle. Here are the pictures. And here is my normal view of the real thing. Regards Toby

Place holder for now. I was doing some surfing looking for a suitable subject for this GB when I came across some artwork of the post-WW2 Norwegian Storch trainers. Who doesn't love the Storch, and a blue and yellow one was too good to pass up. Coincidentally the Airfix kit has just been re-released as a "Vintage Classic", which it certainly is: I know there are better kits out there, but none have the nostalgic pull of that wonderful Airfix artwork. I have a couple of the original pale blue plastic examples in deep storage in the garage but I think I'll go with this one and see how it builds after all these years. Markings. I've got a confession to make - I've never built Tamiya kits. So I thought why not test whether they live up to their good reputation, and try not only one - but two. So this is Tamiya 1/48 and 1/72 Republic F-84G Thunderjet double build. I thought it might be fun to compare the two kits side by side as I build them. It could also be confusing and I make a mess of the kits and parts - there's only one way to find out Box arts. Painted Tamiya box arts are always classy. Model in the 1/72 is also nice but I think I prefer the painting. Decals. For the 1/48 I'll be using kit decals which look pretty good. The 1/72 I'll be doing something different than the box offers and make it as a Norwegian Thunderjet using Vingtor decals. Hoping to start a small collection of scandinavian cold war era jets. Collection, that currently consists of one model - a Finnish Vampire. But hey, you gotta start somewhere, right? Big brother and little brother side by side. Wings. The clear parts and the extra sprue that the 1/48 kit has. This did not come with the kit. She is called Batman and she loves my hobby. Mainly due to the seemingly endless supply of boxes

Good morrow fellow modellers, I present my latest off the bench. Eduard's 1/48 Spitfire Mk IXc(early) as EN177 of 132 Wing, North Weald, 1943. This was the Norwegian squadron. This is the overtrees edition, built OOB with the addition of the Vingtor Decals and Eduard PE for the kit. Modelmaster and Aeromaster enamels. Finished off with Testors Matt lacquer, Tamiya weathering pastels and a silver pencil. The weathering was kept minimal as the references state the Norwegian crews were a bit fastidious with their aircraft! This really was a pleasurable and relaxing build. Any errors are of my own making and not contributable to Eduard's engineering. Thanks for looking. Regards,
