  1. AMX-13/90 Venezuelan Army Takom 1/35 This is Takom's new AMX-13 fitted with the 90mm main gun (they also do it with the original 75mm and one fitted with SS.11 ATGM's). It's a nice little kit, but there are some fiddly bits in the construction. In particular, I didn't get on with the indi track links which are tiny, and I'd rather have seen link and length versions instead, or at least a jig to set the sag on the upper run. It's also a shame that the oscillating turret, which is the most prominent aspect of the tank, can't be used if the vinyl dust collar is fitted. There's probably no way round this, as you couldn't really have a flexible collar that would look in scale, but it would have been nice if Takom had supplied separate collars for a depressed and elevated position on the gun. The turret will work if you don't fit the collar, but you'd need to add the mounting strip where the collar attaches, as that's not included as a separate piece. Thanks for looking Andy
  2. Hi everyone, When I saw this kit on Evilbay, its price attracted my attention. Its box was like those made by resin kit manufacturers and I got suspicious because of its cheapness, but the kit turned out to be as opposed to my thoughts. When I opened the box to control the parts, I found myself building the parts in a while. The kits been molded well and all detail lines are engraved. Theres no flash on the parts and the detail quality of most of the parts is fine. Just as its in every cheap kit, this kits also some shaping errors. For example, theres a sharp angle at both sides of the nose, but it took 10 minutes to correct it with 180 grade sandpaper. Cockpit parts have sufficient details. As much as I saw on the reference photos, the gas controls are placed wrongly, but its easy to correct it. The instrument panel very realistic, however, it must be positioned further to the back. As you see on the pictures, it needs some adjustments. Its very easy to join the fuselage. Only bottom fuselage part requires putty. However, intakes are very bad. Its best to use Milliput or Evergreen. The holes on the fuselage are like its original and these details affected me. To be honest, this English firm, launching kit for the first time, wanted to surprise us. For example, the tip tanks on the wings are clear and its been left enough margin for rubbing. Also Id like to state that its enough to affix most of the parts. The part fit is perfect. And the quality of the plastic is the best of recent years. Decals from Tandecal's Sheet. The printing quality of the decal set is excellent. In the decal set, therere many niche country selections. I selected Venezuelan A.F. aircraft profile with camouflage... The greatest surprise of the kit is that the complex mechanism of canopy, which can be built in an open state, is provided in a single piece in a detailed manner. Also leading edges, rudder and flaps can be positioned at different angles. Canopys clear like glass and seems great. For the beginner modelers or those, wishing to make diorama for the jet aircraft of early periods, its a good option with an affordable price. Regards, Nigel W.
