  1. I recreated the Ukrainian "Blue-58" Su-27B with blue digital camouflage, piloted by Col. Oleksandr "Grey Wolf" Oksanchenko. He was a display pilot and a regular at various airshows and competitive air fests before his retirement in 2018. In 2022 he returned to active duty and was KIA on Feb 25th, 2022 while covering his retreating comrades. Kit used: Great Wall Hobby 1/48 Su-27B. The digital camouflage patterns are from DXM water decals which were a bit too resistant to decal softener and left an uneven finish. Guess I'll use paint masks next time if I have the chance to build another one. The cockpit was upgraded with 3D-printed decals from Quinta Studio and it worked wonders. Saved me quite a lot of time too. I've invested corresponding decals for all my stashed jet kits so far after this build to get me uh, well, more motivated to eliminate my stashes. They are a bit pricey, but really bring the authenticity of panels and other interiors to a whole new level. Rip Colonel Oleksandr. You'll always be remembered for your stunning maneuvers pulled at the airshows.
  2. Well here goes. We were all given Revell 1/72 Tornado's by Owen from our local shop for a sort of a club competiton (IPMS West Suffolk), thanks again Owen if you're reading this. Four weeks ago we started & at that time I had received a DXM decal sheet for one of the Ukrainian Su-27's as I was planning on building that. I looked at the model during the club meet & I thought there & then that I knew how I was going to apporach this, the Su-27 can wait! Simple really, stick with an idea & go with it! Never done a what if before, maybe this starts a whole new genre as in "If Only", maybe there should be a new SIG! Shortly after the retirement of the Tornado in RAF service on the 1st April 2019, the Ukraine government had placed a top secret order for a number of airframes. Coinciding with the election of Zelensky into power April 2019, these airframes were secretly shipped to Western Ukraine then reassembled & given modifications to extend their airframe lives by an extra ten years. Their presence in the Ukraine Air Force came to light after strikes against Russia & the discovery of Putin’s secret bunker. It's not currently known at this time if RAF or Ukraine pilots carried out the removal of Putin..... Yes, more of an if only rather than a whif. I posted this on Flickr & got a fave from Zelensky's press photographer from Zelensky's Flickr photostream. Can only imagine that the great man himself was shown this! That's the basic alternate history keep it short & concise. Panavia Торнадо Ukraine Air Force 39th T.A.B Ozerne Revell 1/72 kit Vallejo Model Color; 70.844 - 70.961 - Ammo Mig 205 & 229 Vallejo Metal Color's. Trusty Swann Morton 10A blade & Tamiya 18mm tape. Tried to use as much from the kit decal wise, simply used the 9.Sqn decals for aesthetic reasons more than anything as i thought the green & yellow would complement the blue scheme. The Ukrainian markings come from a Begemot MiG-29 sheet. The digital markings are vaguely similar to those on the Ukrainian Su-27 referring to the DXM decals as a rough guide. Tempted now to do a low vis digital grey Ukrainian MiG-29 scheme which would be more appropriate! 🤣 I am that mad by the way! Anyhoos, thanks for looking got to try & finish my Czech MiG-21UB for the groupbuild! Martin
  3. It's been a while! I had a week off work so I've decided to spend the time the best possible way, that means doing some modelling! This is a very nice little kit by Trumpeter on my preferred scale (1:72) perhaps the only low was the decals but nothing too bad really. I hope you guys like it and all comments are welcomed! Ukrainian Air Force, Gostomoel airport, MIG-29C (Izdeliye 9.13) "White 44" Thanks for looking! Jorge
  4. I guess we will see a lot of these being posted soon, as I understand the kits are flying off the shelves. This is the ICM "Ghost of Kyiv" kit, produced by Kyiv based ICM under wartime conditions (and ICM are donating 50% of profits to the Ukrainian Armed Forces). As a build it has all the familiar hallmarks of ICM - lovely detail, but a little fragile and fiddly to assemble. The decals are very good though. With an Italeri Polish MiG-29 Fulcrum A:
  5. This is the ICM MiG-25PD dating from 2008, so an earlier generation of kit than this manufacturer’s current excellent range of Foxbats. This is still a good kit and was (I think) the best fighter variant MiG-25 on the market … until ICM announced a new tool MiG-25PD for 2021 just as this build was headed for the spray booth! This older boxing needs an awful lot of fill-sand-repeat to get a good result. I’ve augmented my interceptor Foxbat with a Neomega cockpit (intended for the Condor MiG-25P but a nice set of resin that fits fine), Begemot stencils, Armory exhaust, intake injectors and wheels, a Master pitot probe, and a Pavla canopy. The MLG required a lot of work to get a good fit and there is some extra metal rod in there to give it some strength. I added a couple of Quickboost air scoops to replace those lost in the sanding (the Quickboost set has enough for two models). The main scheme is Ammo MiG FS36375 over a black base, and the metal parts are Vallejo. This was my first time using Ammo MiG paints and I wasn’t wild about the coverage; however, some research indicated that was my fault for using a gloss black base, rather than a matt primer – I've had no problems since, so live and learn! The markings are from the kit for Red 65 of the Ukrainian Air Force in 1995. I did make up some R-40 missiles using those from the Condor kit but, although the results were ok, they were just ok and I quite like the purposeful lines of the Foxbat unencumbered. The weathering is a little harsher than I intended but these birds were fairly grubby by the end of the service careers. All in all, I’m quite pleased with this and am sure that the new mould ICM PD is worth the wait.
  6. Hello to all.I have finished this kit several days ago.I have added eduard PE in the cockpit. The kit is a bit innacurate but so far it is the best M4 out there in 72 scale.I built it because I plan to get the new modelsvit m4 when it will be available and I dont want this one to go to waste. Not the worst kit when the fit is concerned but it is not easy as well.I used tamiya and gunze paints for the painting and the decals came from the spares box.I have also filmed the whole video process and If you are interested in seeing it you can do that on the link bellow.
  7. Good day, gentlemen! Let me present you my next model. Modern jet is not my topic, but this is just reason to show my love to Ukraine.
