  1. This is my Hobby Boss HU-1B Huey "Gunship". The Hobby Boss kit is an easy pleasant build that only took 10 days, start to finish. But it had a little help. In addition to the basic kit I used: A Bilek color interior. I had never heard of Bilek before and I don't know if they have a relationship to Eduard, but it looked just like and Eduard set. Eduard Mask Print Scale decals. I have used Print Scale decals in the past and been happy with them, but this set and the last one I used were problematic to the point of almost being unusable and I will probably stay clear of them in

  3. If you recognized the band referenced in the topic you're probably stuck firmly in the mid 80's to early 90's! I'm posting a sort of "get back into the swing" WIP to re-adjust my photo storage to flickr and see if things are working with the third party hosting I'm totally out of character and building a helicopter! Got super excited to find a Tamiya warbird collection Bell UH-1B super cheap at my local Toyworld only to find it's simply a Tamiya re-box of an Italeri kit.... Hoodwinked......... but that's life. Anyway I'm enjoying it a
  4. Hi Everyone, I'm ready to go with a Royal Australian Navy UH-1B Iroquois. I started the kit a few years back but didn't get very far as the photos below show. Now is a good time to pick up where I left off and learn a lot about Hueys in this group build. I'll be modelling N9-882 (857) which served with 723 Squadron from 1964 to 1989. This airframe is now in the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Nowra. Components are the Italeri 1/72 UH-1B, Eduard UH-1B etch and Hawkeye's RAN-03 decal set.The Italeri rotors are said to be under-sized and will need lengthening to 48'. I'll also need to scratch-build a
  5. I've decided to embark on the next phase of my RAN Fleet Air Arm project - this time a Huey UH-1B from the Italeri 1/72 kit. One thing that has me stumped (apart from the general fit of the cabin floor which is another thing) is the orientation of the top and bottom halves of the central vertical supporting framework seen through the lower nose windows. Here is a photo of the real thing I took recently. The lower part of the central supporting frame has an angle compared to the upper part. I think the lower half angles out but the view through the perspex is quite deceiving and the upper par
  6. Here is the first model I made after moving to Western Australia almost 7 years ago, built from box as a RAAF machine. Brush painted acrylics and some water colour to make it a little dirty. Took it down from the shelf to clean and managed to break a few parts off that needed re-glueing so you could argue I completed a model this weekend.......
