  1. DreamModel is to release a 1/72nd Bell UH-1Y Venom - USMC - ref. DM720018 Source: https://www.facebook.com/DreamModelOfficial/posts/2324739567656623 Box art V.P.
  2. The box art from the future (release date: 12.08.2021) - ref. 32114 - US Helicopter Pilots (Vietnam War) quite surprisingly doesn't display a Cobra helicopter but a Huey... Though the question: is a 1/32nd Bell UH-1D Huey helicopter kit in the ICM pipe line for 2022? To be followed Source: https://icm.com.ua/figure/us-helicopter-pilots-vietnam-war/ V.P.
  3. Hi Folk's,built for the Vietnam GB for me it had to be a Huey, the dustoff choppers were stuff of legend saving countless lives during the conflict.HB's kit is a little beauty both option's in the box show some kind of filter on the front but photo's didn't seem to show this so I built it without,If HB got the scheme right I would assume it's an early war machine.
  4. Hobby Boss is to release in late June 2020 a (ex-Merit) 1/18th Bell UH-1B Huey - ref. 81806 Source: http://www.hobbyboss.com/index.php?g=home&m=article&a=show&id=159&l=en Test model V.P.
  5. Hello everyone , i just finished the Uh-1 from Revell . In 1/24 Scale ! Amazing beast, very huge. Gotta say im very satisfied with the result. Gotta need a bigger place to put it on. The model overall is very nice , good fit. I paint the model with Olive drab color from Mr.Color number 304. And add some White to the mixture to lighten up the model. Decal is the hardest part, but only the shark mouth decal. If you cut the decal in half , it will be better to control it. And the decal on the slide door is tricky, you must apply the decal first then glue the handle on. And the rest is easy. I did light weathering, just add filter and pin wash. Here is the finished model : Thank you for watching !
  6. After the 1/48th kits (link) Kitty Hawk is to release 1/35th Bell UH-1 Huey family of kits - ref. KH50001 Sources: https://tieba.baidu.com/p/6201308633 https://www.facebook.com/groups/369828906819827/permalink/662143230921725/ https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/KH50001 3D renders V.P.
  7. A close look at the Kitty Hawk's messages in a chinese forum concerning the future Mirage 2000 kit ( link ) display, in the signature from the KH representative, a Bell UH-1 Huey CAD. Would be quite logical after the 1/48th AH-1Z Viper ( link ) and UH-1Y Venom ( link ) kits isn't it? Source: http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4260567148 V.P.
  8. Hello Britmodellers! My second build on our forum is finished today: This old and well-known kit has a nice surface details, and the new Revell decals is great: As usual, the Huey painted with a Gunze Sangyo acrylics with a Tamiya enamel washes. I decided to use all the weapons from the kit, looks nice: An intake cover is removable, to have access for an engine: This time I masked exhaust area before the clear coat to preserve the matt finish: The rotor and its mechanics looks very detailed: The belly is not so detailed, but a stencil-busy: The front view with a «Thumper»: And this time I don’t forget about a position lights (!): The tail: During the sanding the roof was slightly distorted, but under the paint coats looks smooth: I’m glad that I can preserve all the surface details, with this soft and thin plastic the fuselage looks very natural and in-scale: The bad things happened, too: After the door window was attached, I decided to use an alcohol to remove the fingerprints from the outside... Looks like the CA glue was not so ready, or I was so hurried. The starboard side looks better: The results is not so bad for me, and if I want to build a Huey again, surely I put my hands on this kit again! Sorry for for a bit dark photos, there is not so much daylight today: If you’re interested, there is the link to the WIP section: Thanks for looking!
  9. For the sake of clarity and after the release of the Kitty Hawk Bell AH-1Z Viper (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234943269-148-bell-ah-1z-viper-super-cobra-by-kitty-hawk-released/) I've decided to open a new dedicated thread for the future KH 1/48th Bell UH-1Y Venom - ref.KH80123 Source: http://scalemodels.ru/news/6428-vertoletnye-anonsy-Kitty-Hawk-Models-1-48.html Source: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=276651&view=findpost&p=2627492 V.P.
  10. Hello friends! After the long and complex Voodoo build, I decided to build something less-detailed - just for a rest... So, I chose the classic Monogram kit (copyrighted by 1977), repacked by Revell in 2005: First time I sawed this kit in 1994 when my friend’s brother built it, and I was impressed by the quality of the mouldings. Some years ago I bought it (just to have, you know ) and stashed; now its time! The sprue with fuselage halves: The roof, the floor and very nice engine: The crew looks good, very good for this scale: The (not so visible) clear parts and armament: This time I started the build from a little subassemblies for simplifying the (very enjoyable, I must say) process: I love the quality of a plastic, surface details and its color! Thanks for watching
  11. Hi again all, Inspired by the recent UH-1C RFI I've scanned a few Hueys for your delectation. They are taken at various locations, as marked. I hope you like them. UH-1C/M at Camp Robinson AAF, Arkansas, May 1982 UH-1H at Jefferson City, Missouri, May 1982 UH-1M at Camp Robinson AAF, Arkansas, May 1982 UH-1Hs and UH-1Vs at Dannelly Field, Alabama, October 1980 UH-1V at Forbes Field, Kansas, May 1982 Martin
  12. Picking up the new 1/48 Kitty Hawk UH-1H and would like to do a 1st Air Cavalry version. Not had any luck finding aftermarket decals................any ideas ? Thanks in advance Paul
  13. Hello again, I'd like to participate with this other Huey I'm making. Being an Italeri, my expectations weren't too high (my expectations from my own skills aren't high either). But... Good things of the kit The clear parts were thick and shiny enough not to need polishing. Clears parts fitted perfectly except for a few inconsecuential gaps. The main halves of the fuselage fitted perfectly, along with all major parts. Bad things: Having the doors closed would've required too much work, unnecessarily. A lot of guesswork to fit the rocket launchers. Exhaust piece was a total nightmare because it didn't have anywhere to hold to if you wanted it in the correct position. The building manual was WRONG in the installation of the control stick and I had glued them with CA. So anybody else who has built or who's building a 1/72 Italeri UH-1 single engine Iroquois, could you please drop a line saying if you had the same problems as I did? Anywho, onto the WIP: Front of box exclusive for Japanese market. Sprue shot My philosophy is to glue first, then paint bcz 1) glue doesn't work well with paint; 2) touching/holding painted parts is bad for the paint; 3) you'll need to repaint them anyway. Doing other stuff while the grey paint dries... Note how the grip of the control sticks fold forward, just as the manual suggests. But the manual was wrong and I wan't happy about that. Consequently, a less than desirable look to the base of the control stick. An example of how well the clear parts fit. So far so good. This was after a lot of headaches with installing the rocket launchers and the exhaust pipe, that I had to fix after taking this photo. I would've liked to finish it today but I'm tired of the problems it gave me and wanna take a break, watch a movie with helicopters or something : P And I know what you're about to say, there's blitzbuild GB and yes, I'm on my way there, too!
  14. Hi! Here's my 1/72 scale Huey Gunship It is built OOB, and painted using Gunze colors. Best regards Rune Haugen Norway
  15. Hey All Today I present to you a CH-118 Iroquois of 439 "Sabre-Tooth Tiger" Squadron. This particular scheme dates from 1994 when 439 Sqn were celebrating their 70th Anniversary. Enjoy... Firstly, the real aircraft... CH-118, No.118106 . . . . . . The Italeri Huey is actually a very nice kit; plenty of options and detail and a reasonable parts fit... that is until you get to the clear parts. The fit (or lack thereof) of the clear parts is just plain awful. Every window with the exception of the ones above the cockpit was too small for the opening it was supposed to go into. I'm talking at least 0.5mm all the way around. The side windows were replaced with clear acetate glued to the inside. The intent was to glue the kit windows to the acetate but after trying (and failing) on the small side windows, I elected to leave it as it was. If it were up to me, I would have the doors in the kit molded in clear. Like I said the rest of the kit is very well done, with lots of interior detail and different configurations of equipment and seating for whichever version you prefer. This Huey was painted with Pollyscale Reefer Yellow for no particular reason other than it was the closest bottle of yellow at the time. Vallejo Black mixed with a little flow improver was used to do the tiger stripes... that's right ladies and gentlemen, those stripes aren't decals they were painted by hand! The (anti-slip?) area on the top is Tamiya Medium Grey. The windows above the cockpit were tinted green with some Future mixed with green food colouring. The exhaust pipe was removed during assembly and replace with some aluminum tubing after painting was completed. Numbers, roundels and such came from Belchers Bits "Canadian Helicopters" decal sheet. The only aftermarket besides the decals was a set of Eduard Superfabric seatbelts. The inspiration for this build came from last month's issue of Scale Aviation Modeler Intl. which featured an incredible 1/35 Huey build (which I believe is here on Britmodeller somewhere). In the accompanying colour profiles was this striking scheme. It had to be done! I didn't bother to source decals, so I just dove in, took my time, and to be honest, I wasn't as hard as I expected. It was actually quite of relaxing. All in all, not bad for my first helicopter if I do say so myself. Regards
