  1. I'm not a big fan of low-viz grey schemes on modern jets. But when the USN celebrated their 100th anniversary back in 2011, they had the brilliant idea to paint a variety of their current aircraft in retro schemes from throughout their history. TwoBobs issued several decal sheets covering these schemes, and I really took a fancy to the three-tone scheme applied to one of the Hornets of VFA-122 "Flying Eagles." Does this scheme look familiar? It sure does to me, although I couldn't tell you which squadron in WWII used these markings. My brain tries to tell me it was on a He
  2. as if my backlog would not be big enough already..... but after absolutely not finding anything suitable for 1981, a great F-117 build with the US flag on it this week on BM made me look the Nighthawk up on wikipedia... it had its first flight back then!! yipee! and then I thought of my very first 48th scale plastic model... exactly, Revell's Nighthawk..... and here it is again, this time hopefully to turn out better.... to be done in flight, with a big Skunk on the bottom.... any photos of the real thing out there? -- with the Skunk I mean
  3. I've been searching for this Twobobs set for years. I know a few others on here have as well, so thought I'd let everyone know. Www.hannants.Co.uk/product/TB48147 Enjoy. Simon.
  4. Here she is! VF-31's '110', BuNo 519618 as she was at the beginning of OIF in 2003. I used the Hobby Boss 1/48 F-14D, TwoBobs 'Felix in the Fight' decals, Humbrol enamels, W&D Studio pitot and AOA probe, Eduard canopy mask (Godsend!) and a really cheap airbrush. My aspiration was to use as little AM as possible to show what a great kit this is, in my opinion it is superb. It has one or two idiosyncrasies, but still offers a superb amount of value and is a great fitting kit which allows you to make a great looking 'Cat out of the box. I chose not to fill all the rivets, as I don't mid t
  5. Hi All, This is my first post on BM, but will have many more to come. I pretty much exclusively model 1/48 aircraft, but have been known to dabble in 1/35 armour. I know that 1/72 would solve my storage shelf problems, but I cannot bring myself to do it! I used the excellent TwoBobs Decals for this kit. I will probably begin my foray into 1/72 by building this same aircraft in 1/72 as the decal set comes with 1/48, 1/72 and 1/32 decals. I did add resin cans to the rear end, but didn't do anything with the cockpit. I probably should have as the kit version is very average... maybe next t
