After a bit of a final push I've got this guy sorted and have taken some final photos. This is a 3D printed figure that is actually called The Cleric, but as soon as I saw it i just loved the idea of him casting a spell the power of which was causing his cape to billow out. I've painted it as if the head of his staff is the main light source, to give the impression of the magic lighting the scene, and had a real blast painting it. Thanks to everyone who commented/reacted in the WIP, always makes a project more fun! Speaking of which here is a link to it:- Here are the final pics, I included one daylight shot at the end as I think it gave a slightly better impression of the colours I used. Finally got a chance to start this, I got this figure before I finished the last one but between the weather and work just haven't had a chance to get going until yesterday. The figure is actually called The Cleric and its from the Flesh of Gods series of printable miniatures, I really loved the animated pose with his cape flapping, maybe its supposed to just be the wind but I liked the idea of it being the power of his spell casting radiating from his staff. IMG_20241114_195327 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So the plan is another bit of OSL type painting except with not such a stark contrast between the light source and the ambient light as in my last one with the knight in a pitch black room in front of a fire. I will basically paint him in the usual way I approach my figures with a light source in mind, its just the main light source will be the top of the staff, and I'm thinking as well the light coming from it will be a bright white light and not a particular colour. At the minute I'm thinking his cape will be purple and his robes will be a bluey green, not decided on his hair yet, tempted to do a bright whacky colour but I'll probably end up going down the reddish brown route. So I got him primed with some chaos black from a rattle can. I do also give a general light spray all over too just to bring out the details just a little and make them easier to paint. Its a green stuff world xl wet pallet, I got to a point where my diy one was a bit small so I figured now was a good time to upgrade and slap it on the birthday list. IMG_20241125_194841 by Nick Frost, on Flickr My first bit of paint looks a little lost on it Thats the only other little bit I've done for now with this guy, just got the flesh base colour on which is Bugmans Glow, in 3 thin coats IMG_20241125_200857 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Before I go any further with the skin I'll get his eyes and gritted teeth painted which is what I'll do next. Thanks for looking, more soon
