I've shown you my dirty Viggen but I can do grey and clean to as the first cruise Tomcats were They were tragically spotless! I had a perfectly good reason for not making a WIP thread on this, it was namely started at our annual plastic camp for middle aged...well, men. It was held in the last weekend of May and it was fun fun fun A link to the event....it´s all in Swedish but the pics speaks more than a thousand words! http://ipmsgoteborg.clubdiscussion.net/t5046-plastkollo-6-hjalmared-2017-05-26-28 Anyhew, I started this build there... I´t the famous Tamyia Tomcat in 1/48th scale and I wanted it in early VF-1 livré. That meant some converting, hacking and slashing I´put in the steels beach early Tomcat resin, a boat tail, gun grill and IRST chin pod. Well me being me I put in more resin: Aires burner cans and bang seats followed by Eduard rear mirriors and wheels, Master alfa probes and Fighter Town decals. It all went together surprisingly well and the decals worked reasonably too even if they were meant for the Hasegawa kitty. The Tamyia kit is simply lovely to build...everything just fits! it´s more like assembly than building actually but I managed to find spots to putty The buNo 158982 I decided to build was one of the first to be lost to compressor stall that was plaguing the TF-30 engines, it was lost in January 1975 in the South China Sea outside the Philipines, both pilot and RIO ejected safely. Cheers!

It´s a Viper...but just not any Viper but a Viper that was part part of one of the USAFs attempts to replace the A-10 as the USAF main CAS plattform. It did not turn out well and the A-16 was not to be as it was a way to delicate for a powerful 30mm gatling gun. Nothing tells the story of the CAS Viper and the GAU-13 gun better than this article: https://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/the-f-16-gun-pod-that-tried-to-shoot-down-the-a-10-wart-1597577525 A Viper in wraparound Euro-1 was simply irresistable so armed with a Tamyia F-16C block 25, Aires exhausts, seat and Caracals CAS Viper decal sheet, a GPU-5 gun pod from the hasegawa weapon set and Rockeyes, Sidewinders and Mavericks from Eduard, I set out to build a true CAS Viper! The first hurdle to overcome was the Pave Penny pod, the pylon attached to ithe air intake was no where to be seen until I found a resin set for a IAF Netz conversion from wolfpack. It is the only source for this Pave Penny pod needed for this build just so you know 😛 The second hurdle was that I got plagued by silvering on the Caracal decals...not their fault, somehow skimped on the surface work or something I tried fixing it but to no avail..the decals decided to stay silvered 😞 Other than that....Tamyia Vipers are fantastic to build, just so you know if you never tried one 😛 OKi here comes the picture avalanche 😛 Cheers!

Now for something different! Always liked the shark-like properties of the 262, almost looks like it's from a comic book. Nothing fancy was done to this kit, a few interior details but otherwise OOB. As always freehand painted cammo and some weathering. I tried black basing and I wasn't that found of it, I use it for cockpits and bays and such but the air frame I prefer starting off a grey base. Here a few pics Cheers!

Hi again, more old sins nothing says dirty like a Skyraider and the Tamyia A-1 is a fantastic kit OOB, only additions I did was the gunbarrels and scratched that little whip antenna by the cockpit. Of course it's freehand painted with my trusted Lifecolor acrylics and then I just went bananas with the weathering and had a real blast! enjoy the multitude of photos of it Cheers!
