  1. As there is currently a Century Series group build underway I thought I would complement their work with the aircraft that many Century Series pilots would have trained in - the T-33A. This is the Great Wall Hobby late T-33 kit that I'll be building as the last T-33 flown by USAF Air Defence Command in the Cold War. So, here's the obligatory boxart: To it I'll be adding the Big Ed set which provides seatbelts, mask, flaps and a single set for interior and exterior details. I'll be handing the flaps to my teenage son who is about to finish exams and who will have ample time (and the good eyesight) in order to be able to go all of that folding. I'd purchased some Caracal 1/48th decals to do the aircraft I was aiming for and then purchased the kit and found the same option was provided for within the kit decals. Here's the excellend 3-view that GWH provide with the kit: This is my first GWH kit but I'm impressed by the quality of the plastic used and the molding. The parts are really well formed and detailed and the use of a number of different small sprues ensures everything is well molded.
  2. My summer project came to an end!! Ireally enjoyed my second bare metal journey!! Hope you like my effort to replicate this bare metal beauty!! Some more on her here...
  3. Good morning lads, I finally finished my new summer project GWH's 1/48th scale T-33A. My time was limited to present you an in progress work, but i will try to give you an idea !! The kit and some aftermarkets...also used some custom masks for the ''USAF'' and ''TR-411'' codes from my friend Alexis And the scheme i am for is the second one TR-411, here is the only photo i managed to find.. A few words about the kit....AWESOME!!! (my humble opinion!)....nothing more A few words about Caracal decals...the same!!! Awesome!! I started dealing with the cockpit as a usual...here i used Eduard PE for the cockpit and the pilot's seat! Cockpit... Seats... All together and weatherd... ....
  4. This is the 1/48th Academy "U.S. Air Force" T-33A kit which was recently released as a "special edition with limited availability". I wanted something which matched my interests that I could build OOB fairly quickly and the box artwork of a 318th FIS T-Bird in ADC grey out of McChord AFB just worked for me The kit has alternative decals for a CT-133 flown by the Heavy Metal Jet Team back in 2010. Starting with a classic quarter view: On the plus side the kit fits together quite nicely, just a little filler needed on the wing section / fuselage underside join, all other parts fitted well with just a little sanding needed in places. The decals also went on very well indeed although I am a bit embarrassed that the photos show the 'stretch' on the nose. This was intended as a quick build to help my mojo, it seems to take me years to finish anything so to do this in four months was not bad going. The ADC Grey was Model Master Aircraft Gray and this sprayed on very well using my relatively new H&S Ultra air brush. I didn't worry too much about detail because I seem to get bogged down and then lose heart so I did not detail the cockpit at all, also for some reason the rear seat developed a rightward lean! The left air intake isn't quite right either What is a first for me is I tried to apply a home-made wash to bring out the panel lines. This was not entirely a success however it did emphasize the rivets so not too upset. It also helped to dirty up the aircraft which is sort of good, however all the photos I have seen of the 318th FIS T-Birds show them as very well kept indeed with no staining or dirt at all! Last photo, this is the opposite side: Cost me £13.99 from Basingstoke MZ, enjoyed putting her together, learned a lot and my model making mojo much improved as a result Michael
