Continuing with my theme of trying to get everything the RAF has flown since 1950 built in 1/72 scale (tough job I know!), let me introduce my S&M Models, Bristol Sycamore HR14. Finding photographs hard to come by, I used the kit decals minus the 202 Sqn 'Duck' decals to attempt XJ380 of 275 Sqn, RAF Thornaby circa 1956/57. Built OOB using Xtracolor X019 RAF Rescue Yellow. As always, the photographs are poor having been taken on a very old iPad. Here it is with a couple of it's newer cousins. Westland Whirlwind HAR2, XJ763 of 22 Sqn, 'A' Flt, RAF Chivenor, circa 1959. Westland Sea King HAR3, XZ585 of 202 Sqn, 'D' Flt, RAF Lossiemouth circa 1986. Maybe attempt the Wessex HAR2 of 22 Sqn and then need to find a Whirlwind HAR10.

After the Sikorsky HO3S-1 (link), AMP is to release a 1/48th Bristol Type 171 Sycamore kit - ref. 48004 I really like these vintage small helicopters... In the right (quarter) scale! Source: the HO3S-1 box V.P.

My first helicopter, I did a lot of mistakes, but at the end i’m satisfied also because the kit is not the easiest on the market (thank to S&M for giving us a kit of this interesting subject) I used some etched, built new landing gear with Albion alloy tubes, open 2 doors and folded rotor blades Colours are from Gunze Sorry for the low quality of the photos

1/72 Bristol type 171 Sycamore S&M models
milktrip posted a topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Hello, I would like to present my latest completion; S&M model's 1/72nd Bristol type 171 Sycamore Mk52. Very nice kit, went together quite well and required very little filler, The clear parts were surprisingly straight forward too although I did experience a slight mishap by dropping and splitting this section from the rest of the fuselage. Luckily it was in the early stages of the build so there wasn't much damage! I've made an error with the white sections on the aircraft. The section below the main rotor should not come down as far as the hoist. The rear oleo struts are not quite right which resulted in the aircraft not 'sitting' correctly. I had to extend the front oleo to give the distinctive low tail look the sycamore has. Unfortunatly this has resulted in the poor pilots having to jump to reach the step!! Not sure if the error was my doing or the kit parts are the wrong length? Something to bare in mind if anyone is building or planning to build the kit. Pretty much out of box although I've added some minor additions which are a mix of spare PE & scratch built brass / plastic rod. [/url Thanks for looking Aaron- 32 replies

I have the German/Belgian S&M Sycamore kit at the 'ready to paint' stage, but my example didn't have the colours and markings sheet. I have sent two e-mails to S&M requesting an electronic copy of said sheet, at the beginning of December and yesterday, but have not received a reply. Does anyone have a copy of this that they could scan and send to me? Please PM me and I'll send you my e-mail addy. Failing that, can anyone please let me know what colour green is recommended for the German version?
