Catching up on posting some of my 2023 builds, this is the well-known Revell Hunter, which is a really nice kit to build; I just needed to make sure the cockpit tub was aligned properly or the fuselage halves wouldn’t join properly. I used Eduard details on the seat, otherwise the cockpit is from the box with a few added bits of plastic card and wire. I made a representation of the front face of an Avon engine, which is barely visible through the intakes and probably not worth doing. I also filled the inside of the wing to get a smooth representation of the intakes, which definitely is worth doing. I built the Hunter in one of the Swiss camo schemes from the box, partly because it is the classic dark sea grey, green and high speed silver scheme, and also because I thought a Hunter with Mavericks would look good; that said, I left the Mavericks off in the end because the model is finely balanced and I think the missiles would have made it a tail-sitter. The kit has pretty much all the ‘lumps and bumps’ needed for a Swiss F.58, with just a few mods required to the large tanks to represent the type used by the Swiss Air Force. By the way, while RAF aircrew almost invariably retracted the flaps after landing, that was by no means the case for the Swiss! Possibly because the decal sheet was quite old, I had to double-layer the national markings and white serials to get a better colour density, using a spare second sheet I had. I also used ResKit masks, which worked really well. Annoyingly a seam line opened up between the Sabrinas after I had finished painting and the repair was never going to be as smooth as the original. Colours are Tamiya XF-54 and XF-81 over Vallejo aluminium undersurfaces. Apologies for the quality of the camera phone photos

HI Britmodellers, I am excited to present a build of the Airfix 1/48 Vampire with the brand new WellsProp conversion kit to make an FB.6. After the great success of the FB.1 conversion WellsProp hat offered another drop in conversion which allows us to make some seriously cool Swiss airframes... I'll be using the Matterhorn Circle decal set to make J-1102 with a sharkmouth. This marking was added at the end of her long service life. As you see this means we will also be fading the dayglo orange. The decals were available from Hannants and the sheet covers multiple subjects - the below is just a hint. The FB.6 involved a new nose and was also upgraded with Martin Baker ejection seats. These are provided as direct replacement for the kit parts. The quality is really nice and WellsProp's parts fit very nicely into the kit. You also get the late wheels. I have cleaned the mould release agent off using dish soap in this image. As 3D printed parts it's important to do this. I only had to fettle the locating hole in the nose undercarriage bay a little to get the kit to accept the new cockpit. Here's a dry run without the undercarriage bay parts: The new seat meant moving it further back and hence the cockpit has an inset. It's easy to cut a small amount from the kit upper fuselage to account for this. Looking forward to progressing this one. -
My first attempt at a Group Build. Had a break of 25 years from model building (the usual stuff got in the way: job, wife, another job, house, kids) and got back to it- suprise, surprise - in march 2020. I have built six 1/48 models since then. (Rafale M, Hellcat, Draken, F-4G, Corsair, Mirage IIIS). I always wondered why everybody chooses to display their models on the ground. They look sooo much better up in the air! That‘s where we are meant to be with them: up in the sky!!! Yes, you cannot see the aftermarket cockpit. Or a wonderfully enganced landing gear. And yes, it‘s always a rough ride to fit the pilots into the cockpits. And i hate painting pilots. Really. (Twoseaters… 😵💫) I decided to build them all inflight. I build the stands myself: gluing screws into the fuselage or a fuel tank, attaching a brass rod to it, and mount it onto a simply shaped and polished flat wooden block. Anyway, i will build J-5232. Inflight. With two heaters on the wingtips, AIM120‘s, a center fuel tank (STBY 121.5) and probably with 2 Meteors (wishful thinking here). All ordnance is Eduard Brassin. And it will be my first attempt in incorporating photoedge parts into the fuselage and wings. (Eduard and some others, and scratchbuilt). Looking very much forward to building with all of you. 👍🏽 -
Hello everyone... Im not at a loss for builds right now with five on the go. Crazy me... Ive gone and decided to add a couple of new ones. I have another going in the Nordic group build a Curtiss Hawk 75. I still have two more kits, one each of both the 109 and Hawk 75. These are of course set aside for the Heller group build in October. Questions, comments, and or thoughts ? Dennis

Hello everybody... Im hoping everyone is healthy and staving off boredom. Id like to present my 1/72 Heller Bf.109D1, it is in the markings of the J-307 of the Swiss Air Force. This is D1 is Wnr. 2302 & the markings represent the plane in June 1945. This is one of two Heller kits Ive been working on recently, the other is a Hawk 75. Its only my third ever Heller kit, though basic for their age they're very nice kits. I did very light weathering with just some exhaust streaking and light oil stains as these were not used in heavy combat but border defense. Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and or post thoughts. Dennis

My original plan was a couple of jet trainers but whilst perusing EBay came across the little Bestmann, a side by side trainer from the Luftwaffe. Turns out the Swiss had some interned ones which were painted up in their red/white neutrality markings, so I am going with that. https://goo.gl/images/Q6Q3eZ
