Hello All, I wanted a break from mainstream Plastic Injection moulded kits and build Large Scale Models. The First project is a 1/20 Scale Su-30Mki. It’s made from Foam Board, Polyurethane Foam, Tons of Putty, skinned with Fiberglass and further skinned with putty. the Panel lines were marked upon as scribing was lifting up the putty. There are a lot of inaccuracies, but I have made peace with it for now. The model will get updates in the future. Enjoy the pictures.. . . Regards from India Aditya +91-8860441002

Hi everyone This is my 1/48 SU-30SM by Kitty Hawk. This was a very nice kit to build with great detail. The fit was good, only having large gaps on the air intakes and air brake. I had read reviews about the other su-27 and su-30 kits missing axles for the wheels but mine came with them so I'm guessing they have fixed it. The instructions did have a few mistakes, the paint guide didn't show the camouflage on the underside and showed the registration number from one of the other aircraft. The decals were decent but some of them took a few applications of micro sol to make them conform. Some of the yellow decals were very thin and clear so when applied to the model, they went a lot darker and hard to see, this was the same with some of the red ones. There were also some yellow decals that looked more of an orangey colour, I don't think they are meant to be that colour on the real aircraft but I could be wrong. The weathering made the orangey decals less obvious and orange which was good. For weathering, I decided to try something different to what I normally do. I applied a black oil wash on a gloss varnish, then coated it in matte varnish. I used small dots of white oil paint on the panels which I blended with a wet brush to try to make faded areas. I am happy with how this turned out. It was then coated in a matte varnish again. Thank for looking

It's my first GB! And hopefully completed model number four. After finishing my aggressor F-16 in a similar scheme, it's time for a dark Flanker. Going for the one on the box, the bottom marking. Since I couldn't choose between the blue/gray and the eggplant, here's the best of both worlds. As this is an interceptor GB, I'll forego the Kh-31s and cram it as full of R-73s, R-77s, and R-27s as it'll hold.

The Russian AF has just taken delivery of the Su-30SM - to be used as a lead-in trainer for the Su-35S. Here's my conversion of the Trumpeter 1/72 scale Su-30MKK into a Su-30SM. It involved adding canards and their mounting shoulders, modifying the rudders and making Thrust Vector Control (TVC) nozzles..... I also added two pilots plus the prominent blind flying curtain over the front students cockpit.... Closeup of the TVC nozzles..... The blind flying curtain and holographic HUD..... The model is finished in the latest dark grey camo scheme now being adopted by the RusAF - together with red/white/blue stars and 'VVS Russia' titles on the fin.... Ken PS - If you ever wondered where your BBC licence fee goes - it funds the Russian Air Force......
