Good evening all, On the way in the mail is the old Matchbox Stranraer, a kit that I plan to scratch a healthy amount of interior detail for, similar in nature to the stunning job done by @Vulcanicity. While I plan to follow his build for interior reference, I'm also looking for any interior photo's I can get, particularly of the middle gunners section, the navigation section, and the cockpit itself. Additionally, I have a question as to the appearance of pods underneath the wings of some Stranraers as seen below. Are these supply pods? Podded liferafts? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks all, Tweener

Good evening all, Today I have the early stages of Matchbox's 1//72 Supermarine Stranraer, which has turned out to be a far larger model than I had expected it to be. Following the build of (and information from) @Vulcanicity, I have scratched some interior detail, though my final result will be slightly less impressive. Ultimately, I hope to add depth charges under the wings, new engines (and maybe new cowlings), new machine guns (Brownings, instead of Lewis Guns) and I have the Thunderbird models mask set ready to use. Here is what I have so far: Wish me luck on the rest! Thanks all, Stay safe, Tweener

Dear All, Thanks for the positive comments about the Sunderland Flying boat. They were very encouraging for a newbie like myself. Below are a few images of my last effort to build the Revell 1/72 scale Supermarine Stranraer which is a strange and ugly looking beast when you consider that it was designed by the same person who designed the beautiful Spitfire. It was not popular with the pilots who flew it hence a nasty nickname which was the "Whistling PoopHouse" except not using the word poop but the one which starts SH and ends in T. I got my wrists slapped for using the historically accurate word. I didn't realize Britmodeller was so "Prim". The Revell offering is a reboxing of the 40 year old Matchbox kit which I would never have touched with a bargepole had my wife not bought it for me from Marionville Models in Edinburgh as a present. However, on looking at its ungainly proportions I was hooked. Indeed, I spent more time, and had more fun with this kit than any I care to remember! The detail was non existent so I had to scribe 90% of the panel lines from a blueprint I got on line. I also used a rivet wheel (trumpeter) for the first time hence why some of the rivetting has gone squint. In addition, because of the amount of rigging I set about making attachment points out of some copper wire and gluing them into holes drilled at the base of each spar. This made rigging the beast with easyline much much easier. I did the same prop effect as on the Sunderland before and also installed some resin CMK Pegasus engins to replace the kit engines which were utterly lacking in detail. Weathering may be a bit heavy but I reckon the long range trips made in bad weather would not have kept these beauties pretty for long. Critically, I have included crew and I'm keeping my eyes out for any further alien incursions! Thanks to my wife, Rhona for buying the beast and my daughter Leacsaidh for the photos.

I am pleased to announce Thunderbird Models range of decals are now available from the Freightdog website. These are beautifully screen printed by Fantasy Printshop, based on artwork originally available from Whiskey Jack Decals (as ALPS sheets). First one in covers Queen Charlotte Airlines Stranraers (including CF-BXO which is now on display at RAF Hendon), second release due soon is for Canadian air racing Spitfire Mk.XIVe CF-GMZ. I've finally got round to finishing this, a bit of a self KUTA. It was started last year but in an attempt to get the top wing to sit on all the struts, I kinda melted it by being over zelous with a hair dryer so it went on the shelf of doom until this year. I picked up another kit and went about the top wing differently to avoid making a same mistake twice, something which I'm quite adept at !!! Anyway, apart from the engines which are CMK resin ones, the kit is OOB. This was my first attempt at using Alclad2 (polished aluminium over grey primer) which is great stuff, but I ran out before spraying was complete so it got finished off with some white aluminium and steel mixed together. As the plan was to do some weathering, I wasn't too wooried about variations. The last few weeks were incredibly boring doing all the rigging out of that elastic stuff, but after running out of expletives, it's finally done....well almost, a wire popped off on one of the floats so it needs redoing ! I always strugle taking pics of silver models, so I apologise for the lack of detail definition, I didn't want to use the flash. Hope you like her. Just ordered an Italeri Sunderland to go with her at some point
