Finally finished my F-104G aircraft 26 + 90 from MFG 2, German Marine Hasegawa kit with Ultracast detail set in resin. Resin bang-seat. Cannot remember if the burner can were resin as well. I've used Daco's excellent decal set for this. Future on the canopy and modelmaster gloss and flat lacquer mixed. Thought a German Marineflieger would be rather weathered, considering its operational environments. Clean, no weapons save the internal gun. I scatched the chaff / flare launchers aft and the mounting plates they sit on. I also scratched a position light on the spine and under the belly, in front of the vertical fin. Easy kit - it went together with no problems. Kinks here and there entirely my own creations. I hope you like it!

For some weird reason there a certain aircraft I prefer the look of the two seat variants over the single seat. The A-7, A-10, A-4, F-18 just look fantastic, as does the F-104! I've build a few Starfighters in the past but this is the first time I've hade the chance to do the trainer. Combine that with the gorgeous Marineflieger colour scheme and I can't wait to get this one built. The Starfighter equipped Marineflieger 2 1963 - 1987, Eight TF-104Gs were operated by them during this period. Originally released a decade ago this kit looks fantastic! Good cockpit detail, finely engraved, beautifully detailed parts and a great decals sheet... What more could I ask for

A fun build that was planned to be OOB, but thanks to Jens on this forum, I discovered that I didn't build a TF-104G, but a Canadair CF-104D. So a few minor modifications were made. The kit is excellent, great fit almost everywhere (and where I had problems, they were certainly due to my own limitations). Painting Danish Starfighters is a real challenge. They were parked outside, and heavily weathered. And yes, the tanks (on this individual) were actually glossy. Later, all Starfighters (and Drakens) were re-painted in gloss green. And much more boring. The decals are from Danish Hobby Shop Stoppel. Not bad, but not excellent. They were very thin, but a little bit blurry. I had some silvering problems with them, but I managed to solve most of it. Stupidly, the squadron badge was not included on the sheet, but I was lucky enough to find a similar one among my spare decals. New position lights on the rear part of the body replaced the original ones. First, the model was primed with Tamiya yellow. Then, I painted the weathered camouflage with Gunze colours, a number of different green colours were used. And once again, this was a really enjoyable build! There will certainly be more Danes in the future!

Italeri has released some test shot photos and decal images of their new 1:32 scale CF-104 / F-104G boxing. It looks like an improved version of the Hasegawa kit. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.544555952283696.1073741837.454765391262753&type=1 There are multiple issues with the RCAF markings and the stencils appear to be genericized (so not accurate to the RCAF). Looks like it has both types of seats (covering both the CF-104 and F-104G) but the forward IP looks to be only the F-104G type. Canuck Models offers correct markings for this era and I have other Starfighter sets in the works. So if you're planning to build an RCAF version, you'll be covered. thanks David

QB72 409 Lockheed F-104C Starfighter Ejection Seat 1:72 Quickboost by Aires The F-104 Starfighter had a bot of a chequered history with ejection seats. These were made initially by Stanley Aviation. The C-1 seat initially fitted was a downward firing seat due to the Starfighter being a high level interceptor. This presented problems with low altitude ejection and 21 USAF pilots died due to this. The C-2 seat was then developed which fired upwards. However the aircraft still had to have a forward speed of over 104mph to work correctly. Many export Starfighters were fitted with Martin Baker seats to overcome this limitation. In addition the first F-104G's for Denmark, Italy, Turkey and Germany were delivered with this seat, before they were changed to the martin Baker one. Airies have presented us here with the Stanley C-2 seat, complete with seat cushions, harnesses and the foot plates. The detail that Aires have managed to accommodate in this seat is very good. The structural details are pin-sharp, whilst the seat cushions and fabric harnesses look just like the real thing. The parts are superbly cast in grey resin and there are no traces of bubbles or flaws in the resin. Overall this is a superb item and can be highly recommended for use in any F-104C kit. Designed to be used with Airfix, Hasegawa, Heller, Italeri and Revell kits. Highly recommended. Review samples courtesy of distributed in the UK by Hannants Ltd.
