Picture Update: Finally posting better pictures to this build. Calling this done. This is a Fujimi 1/72 Spitfire PR XIX made out of parts and bits and bobs of some discarded FR XIV sprues. I made this based on the color profile of HS701as seen in the book Spitfires in the Sun. This particular aircraft was from the 101 PR Unit of the Indian Air Force based out of Palam AF Base, 1950. Tamiya paints and wash. The only weathering is some light chipping on the leading and trailing edge of the wings. I opened the tail wheel doors and the pilot is from an old Matchbox kit. The canopy is part Airfix XIX and part vacuform. (Note - added a couple of better pics this morning)

Here's my latest off the bench, rescued from the shelf of doom after 6 years. Spitfire XIX PS853 No 16 Sqdn Belgium, April 1945 The Airfix kit is great, if a little fiddly at times. The biggest issue is the soft plastic Airfix uses these days, I miss the hard grey Tamiya/Hasegawa stuff they used in the late 90's. I did my best to address most of the issues but a few still slipped through the cracks. I started out with the surface detail - rescribing all of the panel lines so they are crisp and uniform and riveting the airframe. Most of the rest was addressed with aftermarket and the spares box. I used every available BarracudaCast set as well as some Eduard PE and transplanted the main gear and tail wheel from Eduard Spitfire VIII leftovers. Aftermarket rundown: - BarracudaCast cockpit - BarracudaCast intake - BarracudaCast exhaust - BarracudaCast prop - BarracudaCast wheels - BarracudaCast vac canopy - Eduard Zoom PE - Eduard main gear legs/doors - Eduard tail wheel - Miracle Paint Masks - Kits World stencil decals - AK Real Colors paints Anyway, on to the pics!

Hi all. After some discussions with myself which kit to enter I concluded to simply add another 1:48 Airfix Mk XIX. Starting rather late I need a simple build which is not full of surprises (my second choice was Heritage Aviations Spiteful but this has a few things I would like to change, even if it seems to be a nice build OOB). So I will dicipline myself to keep this one OOB (still not convinced...). So far only a layer of grey green and a rough wash has been applied to the interior parts (once I have loaded the airbrush I try to paint as many kits as possible - even if I do not plan to build them within the next year). Here is a lousy picture of the box and contents: René

Hi all, Well half term means a week off school, means a a week modelling. Anyway, I brought AZ Legato Spitfire XIV and Freightdogs XIV (same kit), but I thought I could do the same for half the price. So here's the basic concept... Airfix's 1/72 XIX; remove high back, replace with low back, fill d wing panel lines, scribe e wing panel lines, add e wing armament. I've ordered bubble canopies aswell so that'll complete it. Anyway, here's some pics. First line indicating where the low back spine should be, Lower line is where the cut will be, Wax spine made by taking a negative mold of my existing XIV before filling it with wax, Wax spine glued on and filler applied, It's not pretty, Updates should come every evening... Ben.

I'm currently working on the new Airfix Spitfire XIX and want to add seatbelts to the seat. Can one use a Sutton-harness in a Spitfire XIX and XIV? And what about a late-war Spitfire IX? Have got a Eduard-set and a Ultracast-set (resin-seats). Hans The Netherlands
