Over the last few weeks I have been focused on finishing my build for the P-38 STGB, a Nicaragua Lightning as part of my "Last Legs Ponies" project, modeling American World War 2-era fighters ending their lives in Caribbean air forces. BUT I have not failed to notice that one or two (or three or six) others ( @Winded Penguin @mark.au @AliGauld @bigbadbadge @alt-92 @2996 Victor--who am I missing?) have started (and in some cases nearly finished!) PR Spitfires as an unofficial GB, and I have this kit burning a hole in my pocket, so I want to join, albeit a little late, if I may!? I will build the Swedish version, all over PRU blue, and I think this could be a quick one. I know this kit has been built a lot around here, so nothing particularly exciting, maybe, but am I allowed to admit that this would be my first Spitfire ever? 😱 I actually have an idea for another project centered on the Spitfire, but with Last Legs Ponies, Minor Gustavs, and Hawker Hurricanes around the World all underway, I'm not going to officially start "Spitfires-by-the-Seas" just yet. In fact, just next to the Spitfire we have Haiti (P-51D), South Africa (Hurricane Mk I) and Finland (BF 109G-6) all patiently waiting for completion. But, they will keep being patient, I'm confident. 😋 I gave the sprues a bath last night. And then began chopping. I think I know the inner colours I need from poking around other WIPs--Grey Green interior, red/brown seat, aluminum behind the seat, with wheel wells underside colour. I think I will use Vallejo's 71.109 PRU Blue, which I will may be able to pick up this weekend. Ok, all for now, next stop, cockpit assembly!- 72 replies

Happy soon-to-be New Year everybody! Just read the latest Airfix Workbench blog and saw the photos and text on their 1/72 PRXIX, A02017A...is it too much to hope for that this is a revised tooling, correcting the wing chord and fuselage length issues discussed by many of you, or is this just a rebox with different decals? Fact or fiction- what say you guys? Mike
