  1. I'm going to join in with a pair of Special Hobby 1/72 Super Mysteres. The dual boxing was a xmas present from Mrs Z - you get two complete kits, plus an Isradecal book on Israeli Super Mysteres. There are decals for four SMB.2s (two French, two Israeli) and two Sa'ars (a natural metal Israeli now, and a Honduran one). Curiously none of the Israeli ones is in the later desert camouflage (the one we'll all be familiar with, as used on many Israeli aircraft from the 70s to the present day) in favour of an early camouflaged SMB.2, one in SEA camo (delivered in this scheme, apparently) and the natural metal Sa'ar. I fancy doing a Sa'ar in the later desert camo, and the book comes into its own here by giving me all the info I need. I should be able to do it with the decals for the other Israeli ones. The other one will be a natural metal French SMB.2. I've started prepping and priming parts - assembly will start tomorrow. cheers Julian
  2. Here's my Fireflash trials Meteor NF.11, built using the Red Roo set which includes the Special Hobby 1/72 kit and everything you need to convert it to the Fireflash trials aircraft. These Meteors were used to test the Fireflash missile at Woomera in the mid fifties. Build thread is here. thanks for looking Julian
  3. I've been looking forward to this GB all year and now it's nearly upon us I can't wait to get started. I've got heaps of ideas for builds, but as I've got to get the Canadian GB finished (once that's done, all my modelling will be in this GB until it finishes) I'll start with something fairly straightforward - a French Mirage F1C in a Tiger Meet scheme, using the Special Hobby 1/72 kit and Syhart decals. I'll post a photo of the kit later, here's the scheme: cheers Julian
  4. Here's my Special Hobby 1/72 Mirage F.1C built as the 1994 Tiger Meet aircraft of EC 1/12 using Syhart Decals. Nice little kit, and the decals were very nice to work with. thanks for looking Julian
  5. Finished in April but only just photographed; Special Hobby's 1/72 FMA IA 58 Pucara. The kit has resin and etch parts which the Airfix rebox does not. All fits well with the exception of the canopy which is a little narrow for the fuselage openings. The kit lacks the central pylon which is almost always fitted, and the wing pylons have no landing lights which are very prominent so the model benefits from adding these. As far as possible I have tried to follow the pattern of camouflage on the original which is currently in the North East Aviation Museum. It is airbrushed free-hand with Vallejo Iraqi Sand and Tamiya Sky uppers, and the underside is Vallejo Sky Blue which should be much scruffier; hey ho. The decals are from the very comprehensive Aztec Decals South Warriors sheet.
  6. Hello all Just finished this one off. What a great kit the Special Hobby Viggen is. Easy assembly, great fit of parts, clear instructions, lovely decals. It would put some of the larger mainstream manufacturers to shame. I've not done a Special Hobby kit for a while and they've come on leaps and bounds. Paints from Vallejo, Tamiya and Mr Hobby...but in hindsight the light green is a bit on the bright side. Although looking at photos of real Viggens it seems to range from light browny olive to Kermit green and everything in between! Anyway here she is.... comments much appreciated 🙂 If you do fancy doing a Viggen.... be prepared for lots of this! 🤪

  8. 9. Built for the "Year I was Born" Group Build, here is Special Hobby's D-558-2 "Skyrocket", flown by Scott Crossfield on November 20, 1953. On that flight, Crossfield broke the Mach 2 "barrier", reaching Mach 2.005 in a shallow dive. It was the only Mach 2 flight the Skyrocket ever made. Not very many parts, but a bear to build. My WIP can be found here: Thanks for viewing! -Bill
  10. This is the last of the F1's I'll be doing for now. I'm sure some will argue if its an F1 or an Ajeet, but as this was built out the box, I'm not to fussed. It looks right to me. A simple little kit to do, and takes up little space on the shelf 🙂 Tim
  11. Hello all! Continuing my Italian saga, and as I did previously wrote on the Caproni 311 post, here is its predecessor, the 310. The fuselage is close to the 309 "Ghilbi" but the wings and engines will open way to the 311, and 311M series. This model is less easy than the 311 and is more in the spirit of SH as we used to know! Plane is from the 50 Squadriglia, 38° Gruppo based in Elmas near Cagliari in Sardinia in 40. Cheers! 12. Hi gents Those Capronis from Special hobby are really nice and if you put a little effort they really stand out! After the 311M, I did this sexy 311, hope you enjoy, cheers. 13. Here is my next finished model from Special Hobby 1/72 It's the Arado 96 from Slovakia. Painted with a brush and using Humbrol Metalcote colors. I am hoping that either Special Hobby or KP will produce an Arado 96 with a machine gun and in Bulgarian colors. Hope you all like it. - I could only get Flickr to let me post one view of it tonight, sorry.

Comments welcome.
  15. Hello all. Here is my special hobby Caproni 311M on the Russian front in 42 used by the Italian corp on the eastern front. Special hobby has done a lovely job on this light Italian twin. Best regards.
