Hi, Next out of my archive shelf with Japan Navy floatplanes: Kawanishi E15k1 Shiun (in Allies code: "Norm"), based on cruiser Oyodo, 1944. This was again observation hydroplane. The engine is the most bizzare part of this airplane - althought it was a typical 14-cylider Kasei radial engine it drive two contra-rotating two-blades each propellers. Unique - please correct me if there was any other WWII airplane (produced, not just prototype) with contra-rotating propeller and any other airplane with two blades contra-rotating propellers The another extraordinary feature were side floats which were folded and which were pneumatic. Despite sophisticated design (or because of it?) - It was not successful - only 15 were produced and production was stopped. The model I made about Christmas in 2006 from Aoshima kit. It was deeply shaped - original kit has rised lines, a lot of rivets etc. I sand them out, engraved panel lines, even canopy was sanded and frames were added from decal. The side floats were re-made almost completly, since kit was of version with not reterctable (folded) floats. Nowdays there is a nice kit of her from RS, with exactly the same painting scheme in the box (!) - OK - the probability was high, 1/15 The photos are taken with fading day light, so there is some matrix noise on them which disturbs colours a bit , sorry for this... Coments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
