I present my first Sherman in 1:35 scale. It’s the RFM kit of the Firefly Vc built straight out of the box with the markings of the 2nd Armoured Battalion, Grenadier Guards, 5 Guards Armoured Brigade in the Netherlands, September 1944 (so I assume involved with Market Garden). I got the hankering to build a larger scale Firefly after reading Brothers in Arms by James Holland over Christmas. Build thread can be found here: A bit fiddly in places, but all in all a very satisfying build. Brush painted with Vallejo acrylic for the main colour, details in Tamiya acrylics and finished with various Vallejo washes. Hope I did it justice.

I’ve got some leave coming up, and casting around for my next project I’ve decided on the RFM Sherman Firefly, which I picked up only a couple of months ago. Going to be a straight from the box build, rather fancy the Grenadier Guards markings. Paint scheme I gather is pretty straight forward - SCC 15, but there looks like lots of optional parts in the box… I’m no Sherman expert so any advice gratefully received! I’ve picked up some bits and pieces, such being careful to choose the correct sprocket ⚙️. For the SCC15 I have some Mig AMMO paint, but was considering Vallejo Model Air 71.020 as per this link: http://www.plasticpanzers.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1023

I am gradually working my way through a build of a Bronco 1:35 A10 Cruiser Tank, and while I am enjoying that I needed a little break. This was a perfect palate cleanser. It took longer to weather than to build. Its the newish Airfix Sherman Firefly and I built it pretty much out of the box, except for added some wire lifting rings on the turret, drilling out the muzzle brake and some effort to represent the headlight guards (the "wire" used was just repurposed staples). Finished as a tank from the Northamptonshire Yeomanry in Normandy, August 1944. Brush painted with MIG Ammo SCC15 and weathered with oils and some acrylic washes. I was aiming to try and get a "dusty" look. Thanks for looking, and back to the Bronco A10...

Hi all, Can put it off no longer, here's my attempt at a Unimodel Sherman. This was obtained from the Southwell Show last year by my mate Ed, who, given the brief that I needed a small scale Sherman, found this for me. I thanked him before I looked in the box... Jeez! Fortunately @Sgt.Squarehead has seen fit to build some UM Shermans too and has already given a few pointers that'll make my build a lot easier - I'll only pass comment on my build where it varies from the M4A1s that the good Sarge is constructing. Hi everyone, First post on this site but I have been around a while. It's Tamiya's re-boxing of Tasca Models Sherman Firefly. Tamiya have put some of their figures in with it (which is still WIP for me), but apart from that it is basically the Tasca kit. To start off, I'm fifteen years old at the moment so don't expect anything exceptional. But this model turned out some what better than the rest so I thought I'd put it on here. This tank has been a number of firsts for me, it's the first model I've airbrushed, it is the first (well Tasca kit really) Tamiya kit that I have built and it is the first 1/35 model that I've actually finished so there was a lot riding on this model in the terms that it was a completely new experience in modelling for me. I'd like to give a special thanks to my dad who also happens to be HL-10 for helping me along the way. Picture quality probably isn't going to be too brilliant but I hope you like it! The decals may have silvered a bit in places, still mastering the use of clear! I added equipment from some stuff in the spares box. Thanks for looking!

British Sherman Hessian Tape Camo (for Dragon Kit) 1:72 Black Dog Hessian tape camouflage was widely used on British and Commonwealth vehicles during and after the Normandy landings in June 1944. It was comprised of netting to which strips of brown, green or khaki coloured tape were attached. Its primary function was, or course, to disguise the vehicle and make it difficult to pick out from the natural environment. This type of camouflage can look very effective when scaled down, although it can be difficult to achieve in the smaller scales without the use of aftermarket sets such as this one. For those not familiar with the name, Black Dog are manufacturers of resin and photo etched conversion sets, figures and diorama accessories from the Czech Republic. They have a number of innovative and exciting products in their range, including this new set designed for the Dragon Sherman Firefly. The set arrives packed into a sturdy cardboard box filled with plenty of packing foam to protect the contents. It is comprised of a new upper hull, a turret and a barrel for the fearsome 17 pounder anti-tank gun. An additional part representing a neat collection of stowed kit covered with a tarpaulin is also provided. The parts are nicely cast in grey resin and I couldnt find any bubbles or flaws anywhere. The level of detail that Black Dog have managed to achieve is very impressive indeed. The complex tape pattern has been captured well, and the strips of tape are arranged in a convincing and natural way. The resin is quite flexible too, which helps prevent any of the delicate tape strands from breaking off. The only work that will need to be done in order to prepare the set for use is the removal of a casting seam around the upper hull. This should only take twenty minutes or so with a sharp scalpel blade. The component parts look like they were based on the original kit parts, so hopefully there won't be any issues with fit and finish. Conclusion This is the first product from Black Dog that I have been able to get my hands on, and I have to say I am very impressed. The quality of casting is excellent and the level of detail is absolutely first class. Of course Dragon's small scale armour kits are amongst the best around, so any accessory set designed around them will be built on strong foundations.
