  1. From chinese sources, Trumpeter is preparing a 1/72 Sukhoi Su-24M/MR "Fencer-D/-E" kit - ref.01672 Sources: http://tw.weibo.com/supertomcat21/3751515812535600 http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=279455 Source: http://tw.weibo.com/supertomcat21/3748226886916265 V.P.
  2. Hi folks, I am calling this Algerian SU24 done. They seem to prefer in-flight refuelling, rather than strap the huge fuel tanks under these birds, so I just went with a light load out that my reference book showed. Also, stencil dated seemed to be rather sparse around the fuselage compared to the Russian flown versions. Overall, it was a great build, the Aires cockpit was slow going, but after that it went together pretty well. The nose cone was left open to display the radar equipment and I scratched built a few extras to fill the void in the nose, I call it recalibration test equipment, just some detailing to give a bit of visual interest to that area. The kit is known to have some inaccuracies, especially the rear engine exhausts are too wide apart, and hence the FOD covers mask this issue. Thanks in advance for all your comments and interest.
  3. Hi everyone This is my 1/72 Su-24 by Trumpeter. The kit has nice recessed panel lines and rivets. The fit was good apart from the intakes and the nose which had a bit of sanding required. The landing gear were well detailed as well as the landing gear bays which had raised rivets and structure. Ak real colours Mig 31/25 was used for the grey and white primer for the underside. The decals were good but the stars and bull wouldn't conform to the panel lines and rivets even after many applications of micro sol. In the end, I just pushed the decal into the rivets with a needle. I mixed black and raw umber oil paints for the grey areas and highly diluted raw umber for the white areas. I had found some nice pictures which showed a really dirty underside near the engines which I decided to experiment and the results came out ok. The kit also came with many options for weapons but in the end I decided to just use the fuel tanks. Thanks for looking
  4. Sukjoi Su-24 Fencer. Pics taken at The Ukraine State Aviation Museum Zhulyany, Kiev. Pics thanks to Dave Haskell.
  5. Hi, my last finished model. This is 1/72 scale Su-24 from Trumpeter. I haven't made a 1/72 scale model for a long time. Very no problem, nice build. Model was painted with MRP, Gunze, Vellejo and Tamiya paints. Weathering I made oil paints for artists. Few pictures below.
  6. Ukrainian company Armory confirmed that it's going to make Su-24 in 1/144. As i understand the question regarding 1/72 is open. P.S. There is a mistake in a boxart - should be 1/144. Source: GreenMats Club
  7. Hi everyone, Very hot here in Spain, hard to modelling if you not have air conditioner, or at least a beer 🍻! Here are my last two builds. Two commission works for two different collectors. A Lavochkin La-7 1/48 from Gavia with Eduard PE parts, and a Sukhoi Su-24 1/72 from Zvezda. I hope you like them. Thanks and cheers Ricardo
  8. Hi folks. I'm currently looking getting a set of the Foxbot deals and paint masks for the Trumper 1/48 Su-24. With regards to the paints masks are they decals of various camo colour applied as other digital schemes are, ala DXM's Digital Super Hornet decals? Or are they actual paint masks , vinyl or other, that paint can be applied over? Thanks, Michael
  9. The very first Prototype with fixed wings and 4 lift engines. It is scratch built with parts of Revell and Streem 1:72. More pictures to come if you like. Cheers!
  10. Greetings! My first 'in-progress' thread, after lurking and posting the odd question here and there. I finally bit the bullet and started one of my grail projects, the Trumpeter 1:48 Fencer. I've always admired the look of the Fencer, for it's size it looks like a very graceful aircraft; but loaded up with ordinance it's very purposeful! I'll be adding the Komplekt Zip (KZ) forward fuselage and rear fuselage/burner cans (I'm still debating about the intakes - are they really that much of an improvement?) and the Aires cockpit and wheel wells. First off with the rear end (!). I split the mount for the burner cans as they didn't sit quite parallel to each other; they were canted in slightly: Here's the cans in place: Nozzles weren't glued in place until the last moment as they need to be centered precisely, here the right side is a bit off still: Once the back end is completed, time to chop the kit parts to fit. There are no real instructions with the KZ parts (just photos) so I used Mk.1 eyeball to approximate where to cut. I left myself a few mm extra just in case - which was a good idea. In the end if I would have cut where I thought, there would have been too much difference in the mating surfaces. Much more filling would have been needed. I think the molds were expanding (getting old) causing undersized casts. As it was, I had to build up the edges with strip and add filler strips The bottom was a little better, less filler: The Aires cockpit test fit in the KZ fuse; no issues. I replaced some of the toggle switches that didn't make the casting removal process: Here's the wheel wells in place, no issues once they're cleaned up (thankfully I have a hobby bandsaw and belt sander!): It's going to be a big beast!: Now to paint and finish the cockpit, glue the front end together and start re-scribing lost panel lines! Cheers, Jim
  11. Are there any good sites/books that show the differences between all the Su-24 versions (M, M2, MP, MR)? I'm starting the Trumpeter 1:48 beast - I know I shouldn't add the wing fences on top for the M, but I did see a photo captioned as an M which had them, just want to make sure. Wiki doesn't seem to help; sure it mentions them but doesn't really show the differences. Thanks, Jim
