Welcome to my first ever Mustang build. 🤩 The Revell 1/32 P-51D Mustang. For the 453rd Bomber Group Museum. Last year I think it was I was asked if I could help out along with a few other members of our fine parish to build some kits for James Clarey who owns the 453rd Bomber group Museum that @CedB took the Americans ( PC and Cookie ) to when they visited a year or so ago. I agreed and was sent a list to choose from. Like a kid in a tow shop I dived at a !/32 mustang. I have never built one but did have one in the stash. The one I was sent was the Revell kit that I do already have which might make you think I'm lining up to a double build. Well think again. 🤣 I'm done with that CraZynEss. There are a few PE bits and bobs that Jim sent me that I will have to choose which ones to use as they were doubled. There were no belts either but I've sorted that as you will see if you stick around. I'm planning an Out of the box build. But as we all know that is never the case. I have no real knowledge of the Mustang so it'll be fun will to see how I fair with this lovely looking American Beastie. Lets start with the box. Jim has info on both flavours in this boxing so currently I'm planning on going with the one pictures on the box. Inside we have a LOT of plastic. Very nicely detailed by the looks of it too. The Bench is ready. A bit closer we can see eight trees of solid plastic. with one of clear and some big old decals and a peek at the instructions. I have extra washed in the bag. and some sanding sticks at the ready. So what better to do on a Rainy Bank holiday Monday that a bit of modelling. And for once the wife is happy as I won't have to keep it in the house. 😂 Please Tag along if you will for hopefully a fun filled foray into American territory on a big old Pony. 🐎 Johnny.

OOB with SSI decals. So, definitely not Tamiya quality, but it’s very nice and good value. The only shape issues I encountered were the main gear doors. They are flat, with no contour. You’d have a time getting them to fit for an inflight model. Fit was excellent all around. No major issues. The wings have no rivet detail, so it’s coreect for a newer bird with hadn’t had its coating worn and ablated yet. But also no rivet detail on the flaps whatsoever. Cockpit detail is good, but strangely NO effort was made to add a harness. No parts, no decals.
