Greetings all!
This question stems from digging out the Trumpeter 1:700 HMS Eskimo. I had it in my stash for a few years mainly because I couldn't find any acrylic paints to accurately paint her (Im in Canada so some paints are hard to get and enamels are impossible to import almost). Recently I found an AK interactive set containing the following:
507A
507B (thought this was meant to be same as A but different finish?)
507C
B5
I bought this set to try them out and because I remembered that the Eskimo was depicted by Trumpeter as being light grey and dark grey. I also had a Tamiya Repulse with similar colours. Now it transpires that the scheme for Eskimo should be Western Approaches white and light blue (which I don't have), not as Trumpy depict. My Naval knowledge isn't as good with ships as it is with the FAA. So my question is.....
Did Eskimo appear in a scheme involving the colours listed above? with pictures please 😁
Are there any other ships similar enough to Eskimo that I can easily convert and use colours above? Its 700th scale so I am not looking for massive detail.
Can I cover Repulse as above, I may be mistaken but have seen that the dark areas may be black?
And now for something completely different, I also have RN Roma, would I get away with 507A and 507C on this? Would that be close enough to not really care?
Thanks very much all!
Bob
