Greetings to everyone once again. Re.2000 in export version for the Hungarian Air Force, the Hungarian version of the name is Heja 1. The kit from SH contains a minimum of plastic, a lot of resin parts, a photo-etch board, a decal and two vacuum canopies. All the little things are shapeless pieces of plastic, so it was easier to make the small details yourself, the resin parts are also far from being of the best quality, and even the vacuum canopies had to be bathed in futura three times before they reached a relatively acceptable quality. And only the decal did not cause any complaints But not everything is so sad, I just had to work hard. So, in a nutshell, the following has been done: the rear support niche has been sawed out and made (the SH does not have one at all), and the support itself has also been made; the keel is cut and installed at the desired angle; The landing gear struts are made entirely from scrap materials, and the wheels are from Equipage; All deflectable surfaces of the wing and tail were cut off and rearranged, thick edges were ground off, and the ribs were restored; the antenna, radio equipment under a canopy, navigation lights, exhaust pipes along with fairings were made independently; a lot of different small things were added to the fuselage, pipes, breathers, air ducts, casings, etc. The jointing was restored anew. The engine deserves a separate description. The original one, although cast in resin and quite neat, looks like a toy. I turned to Vector products. Of what Vector has in 72nd scale, the most suitable for conversion is the French Gnome-Rhone GR-14. By replacing the gearbox housing, the GR-14 became a Piaggio P.XI, although the housing had to be slightly adjusted. The hood was cut and adjusted to accommodate the installation of the engine, which also made it possible to add more scale to its edges, make the necessary air channels under the cooling louvres, etc. Push rods, high-voltage wires were added, and at the final stage, three-beam supports for attaching the engine to the hood along the perimeter and a synchronizer were added rotation of the screw. The propeller spinner was also machined independently, because The shape of the standard one from the SH set does not correspond to the drawings. The model is riveted. Hi Gents, To follow on with my Reggiane family fighters , designed at the beginning by common American and Italian teams, this work leads to two lines of aircrafts on both countries , P-47 for the US and Reggiane fighters for Italy. RE 2002 was close to" end of war" P-47's used as fighter bomber . So I present you my little bird , I did it last year. I know that rear flaps should have been presented down, but , even if it's a little bit unfair 😈, I saw some pictures of RE 2002 with these flaps .. raised, even if not the most common of them.. Anyway this avoid me to do some " after time surgery ".. 😊 Painted with MRP Paints, All the pictures I saw for these planes during fight against allied landings in sicily and south of Italy in 1943 show them in a rather dull finish due to their intensive use in dusty conditions. Ps: for the bomb, really I'm not sure for the colors.. I think it's more for 50 kg ones but anyway I saw that there is resin ones available at this scale, and will probably change it one of theses days 😉 Hope you 'll like the pics ; Best regards to you all and happy new year !!

Reggiane Re.2001 CN 1:48 SWORD First finished model this year. Night Italian Reggiane Re 2001 CN fighter in 1:48 scale from the company "Sword" in paint from "234-2", 234a sq. Night Fighter Unit, Rimini, 1943. The model itself is very nice to build, the fit of the parts is very good. I hardly used any putty, in a few places I used it. The decal is very readable, soft responds to liquids and has set up nicely. It's just a pity that the manufacturer didn't give a decal sheet with the stripes and the instrument panel. The biggest challenge was painting the black camouflage, and you can see how it came out in the photos below. Enjoy watching.

Hello everybody! Another model that landed in my workshop is Reggiane Re. 2001 Falco II from Sword in 1:48 scale (SW48012). I know I promised an MC. 202 but there has been a slight adjustment in plans. Falco will be straight out of the box without any fireworks. And the rest will come out during construction. Just finished this one for Med. GB, build out of box, a very basic kit, but fit was exelent taken its age into consideration. Cheers Jes

Reggiane Re 2000 (SH48204) 1:48 Special Hobby The Re 2000 designed by Reggiane in the late 1930s was an all metal low wing monoplane fighter. It is said the designers took inspiration from the P-35. This was their first aircraft to feature an all metal stressed skin construction, previous aircraft being of mixed metal/wood construction. However like many aircraft of the period the control surfaces would remain fabric covered. The aircraft would also feature a fully retractable undercarriage. An early major problem was the lack of reliable engines, this would plague the aircraft in use as well. Armament was only two 12.7mm machine guns in upper fuselage. Wing guns were looked at but never adopted. The large sliding canopy offered excellent near all round visibility something lacking in other aircraft of the time. With a top speed of 330mph the aircraft was able to hold its own or better the C.200 and Bf 109E. Surprisingly the Regiia Aeronautica cancelled its pre-production order and rejected the aircraft so it was promoted overseas. In face the British Govt were interested in purchasing it , initially directly, and then via the companies Portuguese subsidiary. Efforts on this came to a halt when Italy entered WWII. in the end 80% of production would go to Sweden with 60 aircraft, and Hungary with 70 aircraft. The remainder would serve with the Italian Air Force over the Med as escort and attack aircraft. 12 Re 2000A long range aircraft were built with an increased fuel capacity and a small number were rebuilt as catapult launched aircraft for the Italian Navy. The Kit This is a new tool kit from Special Hobby this year (with the wing sprue having its origins in the Classic Airframes kit of the past. As a new tool kit the quality is good with nice recessed panel lines, good detail and good clear parts. There are 4 sprues of grey plastic and the clear sprue. Construction first begins in the cockpit which builds up to a complete module that slots into the fuselage when built up. The rear frame has the seat and its supports added before being joined to the floor. At the front the bulkhead there is built up with the instrument panel being added at the top, and the rudder pedal at the bottom. This ten attached to the floor. The two side panels have various details added and then they attach to make a complete module. Into this a fire extinguisher and the control column are placed. Following this the retractable tail wheel and its housing are completed These two sub assemblies can now be placed into the fuselage and it can be buttoned up. Work now switches to the wings. There is a one part lower and left/right uppers. Attachment points for the main gear are added into the lower wing, these can then be assembled and added to the fuselage. The main gear units and their covers can then be built up and added in. The engine with its double bank to cylinders can be assembled and added to the front of the model. The 3 part cowling is then made up and added along with the intake and exhaust parts. To finish off at the rear the tail planes are added. and at the front the prop is built up and added. The pilots head rest is assembled and added along with the canopies. Lastly the nav lights and pitot probe are added on. Markings The glossy decal sheet is printed in house and looks sharp and in register. There are marking for three Italian Aircraft in the Sand/green/brown over blue grey scheme. Here is my Reggiane Re.2000 from the Sword kit. Overall an OK kit, fit wasn't too bad though fitting the engine in the cowling was a pain. Pretty much OOB, though I did risk cutting open and thinning the canopy (after first checking a vacform replacement was available! Supplied decals are TechMod ... which I have a love/hate relationship with ... beautifully printed and very thing, not a hint of silvering, which could have been a real problem with the clear areas on the national insignia. But a real pain to apply - all too easy to fold one over on itself, which is pretty much unrecoverable. Density is pretty good, though I wish now I had opted to paint the cross on the rudder. Of course the real interest in making this one was the paint job. After looking for usable images and artwork, I tried to emulate Schema A from the Stormo colour guide Attempt no 1 was to freehand it with an airbrush, but I just couldn't get the feathering tight enough ... I think it needs to have a harder edge than say a Luftwaffe mottle. Attempt no 2 had me using green as the base colour, then using blutak to mask out the green mottles, then repeat for the maroon. This worked a bit better, but the spacing wasn't right. I found it hard to visualise how much space to leave in the first round of masking. So attempt no 3, I added ALL the mottle masks, then removed those marked red, sprayed, the reapplied the 2nd colour mask Here it is with all blu tack applied. The red blobs were removed, and maroon paint applied. Then the red blobs stuck back on and final yellow coats added. I think the mottling should have been denser, but by then I'd had enough! The red cowling was a bit of a conundrum. The Sword instructions called for a 'dark red', but I could find no reference to this in the usual sources. In the end I went for Japanese hinomaru red which, based on no evidence whatsoever, looks right to my eyes! All paints are Colourcoats. Cheers, Colin

Hi! SMER Re 2000. Czech incarnation of Italian ARTIPLAST 1970 - years. Modest retro. Discussion about the copy and detail of the set to anything. Similar, okay. Forgotten scale, 1/50. The casts of dusty stamps praguers put away the new decal. Reproduced Re 2000 series 3, with a dull fairing. It seems to be the Navy air force, with a duck on the keel. In a series of 1/50 of the set are not orphan: held in the hands of FIAT Cr 32 and Macchi 200. Can be, available and other airplanes. The drawings are not used, they will not help. Only photos. Stock wheels replaced with homemade ones from 2K Tamiya epoxy putty . Changed the direction of the rotation of the propeller. New blades, new canopy slider. Canopy frames with foil. Made a skirt on the hood, imitation seams and snaps. I sanded all the surfaces. Navigation lights made from colored transparent plastic, thrust trim, antenna from fishing wire 0.1 mm, pitot tubes from an injection needle. Painted a combination of ready-made acrylic paints ARM Paint «spitfire green» and «74RLM», mixing and separately, at the bottom of a «light gray MiG-29». Verde and Grigio mimetico, on the general degree of similarity, tolerable. Color alternative offered of the Swedish air force, 1945. in camouflage. That`s not really my thing. Too mottled. Monochrome same dark surface sin not to rivet. Finishing effects with artistic oil paints. Enjoy watching!

Hello again! I would like to participate with this little Italian fighter, kit from Italeri 1:72. The Regia Marina (Italian Navy) experimented with a carrier version (Serie II) which was successfully launched by catapult. Lacking a carrier, Italy used a similar system to the British CAM ships equipped with Hurricanes. The first proposal was made in late December 1940, although the program officially began with an order issued in April 1943. The first modified Re.2000 Cat. (taken from the Swedish orders) flew on 27 June 1941, the last on 18 January 1942 (MM.8282-8288), but crashed on 10 September. There was another navalized Re.2000, the MM.471. It flew initially with a lower powered A.74 RC.38 engine, but it was lost too, during the travel from Reggio Emilia to Taranto (12 May 1941). The first launch was performed on 9 May 1942 with test pilot Giulio Reiner.[11] The work to make suitable the Re.2000 Cat., nicknamed Ochetta (little goose) took considerable time and only at the beginning of 1943 were they used aboard the Littorio class, but not more than one for every ship (although capable of holding three aircraft). RE 2000 "Catapultabile" Re 2000 aircraft modified for catapult launch from Regia Marina ships. On the day of the armistice, 8 September 1943, 6 Re 2000 "Catapultabile " were in service, with two on the battleship Roma and one each on the Vittorio Veneto and Italia (formerly the Littorio).

Hello Britmodellers; here's my latest model, Italeri's 1/48 Reggiane RE 2002 Ariete, in the markings of Major Giuseppe Cenni mount (supposedly) just before the armistice, August 1943. For this reason, all the "fasci" on the original AC were either cancelled or over-painted, as I tried to reproduce. Sadly enough, Major Cenni was shot down a few days before the official armistice date, after a chase operated by some Spitfires, in southern Italy sky. The kit is ... oh well, as Troy says, a real pig: inaccuracy and fit problems all over; I tried to correct something, such as thinning the wings and using a resin spine, I did some scratch-building and some surgery, all of which can be seen in the WIP Thread Paints are mainly Tamiya Acrylics and Lifecolor Acrylics; the antenna wire is one of my eldest daughter's hair. White band and rudder cross are painted, only the marking on the latter was cut out from the kit decals Now the pics, comments and suggestions are more then welcome Wing guns are small copper pipes coming from electric contacts, cut to size It was while taking this pic that the disaster happened: I was outside, wind arose and ... .... disaster Well, I fixed it all, and as a matter of fact some of the pics above have been taken after the fix (which also involved replacing the antenna wire, that now stays much tighter) Details you can't see in the completed model; the rudder pedals were completely scratch-built; some cables, pipes and knob were added; instrument dials are kit decals, with a drop of PVA glue to simulate glass Engine was detailed adding some wirings I've also scratch built the radio rack, using some leftovers from an old Tornado kit (!?!) My gesture of self-sacrifice for the modelling community - finished just in time Sword and then RS Models released their state-of-the-art Sagittario kits.
