  1. Hello Everyone Im going to attempt to get this build in at some point. Im so backed up right now. I have 9 on my desk and will be starting 4-5 more over the next couple of weeks. Good piece of advice never get sidetracked for two months. For this build I’m going to be using the 1/72 Special Hobby kit of the F86K. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/special-hobby-sh72146-f-86k-sabre-dog-nato-all-weather-fighter--112228# If by some miracle I can clear my desk of a few of the excess builds. I might just drop an Eduard Mk.IXe in Rolf Arne Berg’s markings. Its been on my wants list for awhile. Please feel free to ask questions, post comments or add thoughts. Dennis
  2. Big thanks to Rui Silva for creating a GB Banner that include all the nordic countries. By asking for it and promising to participate in the GB makes me obliged to get a F-16 out of the stash and give it a go. It's been quite some time since I built and finished my last kit but I'll give it a try. The subject is a F-16A, pre-MLU, Fujimi 1/72 kit. The Norwegian F-16s have a rather simple camo, and weathering is also not that prominent due to regularly cleaning 🙂. The decals does not include the squadron fin flashes so I probably will manage without. Otherwise my squadron of choice would have been the 338. Well, here are some pictures:
  3. Hi folks, Here are a few pictures of my F-84-F40 Sabre from 338 Sqn, RNoAF Ørland, in 1963. I used the Revell Canadair Sabre Mk.6 kit and added some extras, including a Martin Baker seat (from Eduard's F-8 Crusader) I also used KASL Hobby's slats and flaps together with wheels from Eduard. The very nice and thin decals are from Norwegian Vingtor. She is painted with Alclad2 and Gunze, and weathered with Ammo of Mig products. It was just a pleasant build all the way 🙂 Thank's for looking, I hope you liked it 🙂 Cheers! //Fred
  4. Hi guys, After a busy weekend (Telford) am I finally ready for this GB. I will build the Classic Airframes 1/48 F-5A. I will start this model very soon. pictures will follow later. The model will be build out of the box with the left over decals from the Kinetic kit. Cheers,
  5. Hi gents, I've just finished this - the Airfix Gloster Gladiator in the markings of an aircraft of the Norwegian Jagevingen (Fighter Flight) at Fornebu, Oslo in April 1940 - decals from the DP Casper 'Forgotten Operations - Weserübung' decal sheet DPC72015: This aircraft, flown by Sergeant Kristian Fredrik Schye of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, was engaged in combat with the Luftwaffe on 09 April 1940. Sgt Schye brought down a Bf110C of 1./ZG76 (the M8+FH flown by Unteroffizier Helmut Mütschele and gunner Gefreiter Karl Lorey) but minutes later was himself shot down by Leutnant Helmut Lent. Sergeant Schye force-landed his Gladiator, having been slightly wounded by cannon shell fragments but was released from hospital after a couple of days. A more detailed account of the action can be found here I built the Bf110 that Sergeant Schye shot down as part of the BF110 Group Build here - here is the 'Dogfight Double' shot: This is my first Airfix Gladiator and was as much as anything a test-bed for rigging, which I had not attempted before. I learned a great deal in the process and while I am not unhappy with how it turned out the experience gained in this build will make my next one better... I had no issues with the kit apart from some difficulty fitting the engine cowling which could probably have been avoided if I had been more careful. The photographs I was able to find of this aircraft were not conclusive but seem to indicate that ski landing gear was fitted at the time the aircraft was shot down, but while the skis provided with the Airfix kit are fine for the Swedish or Finnish versions they are not appropriate for the Norwegian aircraft which used a different type... in any case the skis and wheels were interchangeable, and there are pictures of Norwegian Gladiators on snow-covered ground with the wheels fitted, so that's my justification and I intend to stick to it I would thank our esteemed forum colleague Procopius for pointing me in the direction of the EZ Line with which the model was rigged, and our equally esteemed colleague Cookenbacher for putting the 'Dogfight Double' idea into my head in the first place - thank you both Cheers, Stew
  6. Time to start another GB. My entry for the Less than a Tenner Group Build will be the SMER Curtiss P-36, 1/72 scale, in the colours of Hærens Flyvevåpen (later RNoAF) in the spring of 1940. It's actually a sort of Whif but more about that later. I will build it without any extras except for maybe homemade decals or paintmasks. Ok, the pictures: "Flashy" sprue.. This is the colour scheme I will be using. Just have to wait til the start is announced.
  7. Hi, This is my latest build, a RNoAF F-16 MLU. I used the Eduard NATO Falcons kit, i.e. Kinetic, together with decals from Vingtor and a PJ pilot in the office. As Eduard is adding resin and PE to the Kinetic kit the build is more or less OOB, just some wiring added. I have added a decent amount of weapons from the kit and Hasegawas Weapons set to make it look like pictures that I found on the web taken at Souda Bay, Crete, during the Libya Air War. I always wanted to make a Norwegian F-16, but it is rather difficult to get all over one tone grey schemes to come alive but I gave it a try. She is painted with Gunze and Aclad II where needed. Hope you like it Cheers /Fred
