  1. Good Evening from Japan, Please see the work in progress thread. I haven't updated it in a while, as it takes so long to get the photo equipment out and upload everything. I've been working to try to have it complete to turn into the local hobby shop's summer contest, due by Wednesday. Lots and lots of detail work, see the photos of the finished version below! 2. Good Afternoon, I think that the Hasegawa kit has some disadvantages, but it is dirt cheap where I live right now, and I think with the proper amount of effort, I can overcome those problems and turn out a good looking build. I'm working on this aircraft for my local hobby shop's fall contest, and this is the plan for how it should appear in the end: path1357-2-1-5-5-6 by J Hooper, on Flickr I've not found any good decals for this scheme, so I did my own artwork and had them ALPS printed. They are in the mail and will hopefully be here in time for decaling. Depending on how the yellow turns out once printed, I may paint the lightning bolt on the tail, but that decision will be made once the decals are in hand. path1344-3-6 by J Hooper, on Flickr First will be fuselage details, you can see the traces of the sink marks throughout the fuselage. I opened up the intake on the top side and boxed it in from the rear. P1050488 by J Hooper, on Flickr I also boxed in the nozzles added some details that were missing: P1050487 by J Hooper, on Flickr The airbrake well was detailed also: P1050486 by J Hooper, on Flickr Detail added to the vents, the flaps were dropped, and the wing fences were replaced with .25mm sheet styrene. 3. Hi, I have just finished this for the 1970's Nato Warsaw Pact GB and thought I'd share it here as well because to be honest, I'm quite proud of it. WiP:
  4. Ok, got home from work & sorted through my stash. Hasegawa Phantom FGR.2 1/48. Using decals from the AirDoc set to make 19 Squadron's XV470 as depicted on the box art from Fujimi's 1/72 Phantom FGR.2 Quite why this is the 'Last British Phantom' I am not sure, maybe they are being Uber Pedantic and refer to the FG.1 as the 'First British Phantom'... ... but there you go, that's the Japanese for you. Eduard cockpit & masks, Quickboost seats and some Aeries wheels. I'm looking forward to this, love building these Hasegawa Phantoms. Airfix's offering next year had better be pretty good to beat it! Oh, sorry RMP2 but it will be low-viz... From what I can see most of the Phantom's colours are low-viz for most of the 80's. I'm saving up my grey/green decals for the 70's group build...
  5. Afte my work in progress Tornado IDS I fancied a bit of light releif. Built in a week using the Revell re-boxing of the Classic Hasegawa Phantom. Air-Doc decals. Eduard zoom cockpit details. Humbrol rattle can except for the barley grey which was airbrused enamel Humbrol. Humbrol metal cote for the bare metal, aluminium and polished steel. Tamiya acrylics for the little bits. The kit wheels look awful but I had some Tornado main wheels knocking about which look more like it. Sidewinders are the left over ones from the Revell Tornado IDS which I shaved the noses down to look a bit more Aim 9-g like.
  6. Hi, been working on this for the last couple of months when time allows. Pretty much done, built as ZD740 from the Xtradecal set. Used the Revell 1/48 GR.4 kit as the basis. Lots of fun, and very pleased with the result. Misplaced the clear sprue somewhere so no nav lights on the intakes or landing lights but I have 2 clear sprues which will turn up soon. Enjoy.
