I finished this one a month or so ago but only got around to the glamour pics today. The ICM kit isn't the best Spitfire Mk.VIII kit by a long shot, but I still quite like it and it builds up well enough once its idiosyncrasies are known and managed. Here's the WIP. TL;DR Built mostly out of the box but some angst over the markings and paint scheme, plus scratch built the bomb carriers and a photo which is possibly/probably of the subject aircraft taking off on what would turn out to be its last sortie. Lt. Norman Cullen was killed in this aircraft on 10 July 1945. He was last seen pulling out from his bombing run on enemy targets in the vicinity of Tawao, Northern Borneo, it's assumed he was hit by ground fire. This was the final offensive sortie RAAF 452 Squadron undertook in the war. Cheers.

Huh. Fancy that, no Mk.Vc in sight as of yet! That'll not do, so as a secondary I'll add this Special Hobby Mk.Vc box to the mix. The subject of choice will be Clive Caldwell's BS295 from the box. The leading Australian air ace of World War II, officially credited with shooting down 28.5 enemy aircraft in over 300 operational sorties. Caldwell flew Curtiss P-40 Tomahawks and Kittyhawks in the North African Campaign and Spitfires in the South West Pacific Theatre. He was the highest-scoring P-40 pilot from any air force and the highest-scoring Allied pilot in North Africa. His military service ended in controversy, when he resigned in protest at the misuse of Australian First Tactical Air Force's fighter units and was later court martialed and convicted for trading liquor.* *Left largely to their own devices as so many fighting men in the SWPT, trading booze for parts was 'part of the job' for many. During their assignment in Morotai (NEI), they got the short stick and Caldwell together with others resigned in protest at being bypassed. The booze trade court-martial was later attributed by the Daily Telegraph as a form of retribution.

Hi, Back to my archive shelvs content - Vultee Vengeance II of 24 Sq RAAF, New Guinea 1944. It is reshaped a bit Frog/Novo kit. The main change was that the general shape of wing was modified. Second major change was completly new cowling mounted. Some minor changies done as well like a closing of canopy (perhaps I was not right, since they dismount it ,I am affraid...). I made her in Jan 1997, so more than 20 years ago. Comment welcome Regards Jerzy Wojtek
