Hi, I am in the midst of assembling the BPK Poseidon kit, and feel motivated to make some comments which I hope will be of use to other builders. The overall fit of parts is quite pleasing, especially for a lower-technology process, with the caveat that the rear fuselage needs significant trimming of the upper two sides to fit the underside part. My estimate is approx 1mm or so. Fitting the fuselage parts together is made notably easier when plastic card locator tabs are glued to the inside of the long joints, alternating sides, a la vacuform building technique. The evenness of the fuselage part thickness has made this quite reliable when aligning halves and inhibiting the halves from collapsing inside themselves. The engines and undercarriage have yet to be looked at. The Instructions have some errors and omissions, so far as I have proceeded. Section 1 for the cockpit makes no mention of the 3d-printed printed seats and etched rails that were included in my kit. However, my Wedgetail kit does have the directions ,which are fairly straightforward in that the plinths for the plastic kit seats are removed, the etched rails stuck to the floor and the 3D seats mounted thereon. The fairly large cockpit windows allow quite a good view of the cockpit interior, which I consider justifies the detail. Section 16 does not show the amount to be cut off the rear of sub-assembly 15 to fit the rear fuselage underside, which I still have to do. Section 20 and 21 do not indicate exactly how the wingtips fit, my research indicates that the small fairings have to be removed from the very end of the wings to form a notch to fit the wingtip aft projection. Painting and Decal placement: In the diagram for the RAAF aircraft, some of the Kangaroo roundels are misaligned. The rule for all Australian military Kangaroo roundels is that the Kangaroo always faces forward ("into the airstream"), with the legs facing down on the fuselage and inboard on both wings upper and lower sides. It appears that the kit transfer sheet provides the correct orientation. Please accept my regrets if I have stated the obvious, and I hope that these comments are of assistance.

This is my rendition of the Welsh Models' Boeing P-8A Poseidon. I always thought of the 737, which the Poseidon is based on, as a small airliner, but this thing is huge. Because it is so large they made the fuselage vacu-form while the rest of is is resin. Even so it is still pretty heavy. With the exception of the landing gear all the resin was excellent with nice detail. It was a lot of work with a lot of sanding, but I think it came out pretty well. A few notes. They give you 3 options for the cockpit. There is a vacu-formed transparency that contains all the window and the fuselage has indentation for where the can go that you can open up. They also give you a decal for the windows. You can either cut out the individual windows and place them in the openings, You can cut the large transparency in half and glue each half to each fuselage half. Or you can fill in the openings and use the decal. They actually include a decent interior, so I chose the second of these and glued the transparency halves into the fuselage halves and detailed the interior. Unfortunately even though I carefully glued the halves in, after closing up the fuselage one side of windows popped out, or I should say in and disappeared somewhere in the interior. After I did a lot of soul searching and looking at what you could actually see of the interior I decided to close up the opening and use the decal. The only other issue was the main gear. I seem to recall reading a review that said the gear was white medal, but in my kit they were resin and crudely cast at that. And they are just not up the the task of supporting the weight. I should have replaced the main strut with brass rod, but instead I spent a lot of time repairing them. At some point they will probably collapse and then I will replace them. The decals are printed in Australia and they are excellent. Very thin but strong enough not to tear easily. They did have a tendency to wrinkle and fold, but were easily straightened and snuggled down and the film disappeared with only minimal solvent. But enough of me and on to the pictures. Next up is a Skunkmodels' RQ-9 Reaper. Enjoy

And now for something completely different, in a scale I'm not particularly used to. But, when it's the only option available for the subject you want, you make do. It’s the Hasegawa 1/200 P-8A Poseidon (yes, I still need to paint the tip of the nose black). It's a fairly straightforward build, though all those little antennae nearly drove me batty.

Norway have decided to replace it's aging 6 P-3 Orion's with 4 P-8 Poseidon. They have signed an intensional deal worth 11 billion NOK. About time they did this. The Orion is a workhorse, but age is showing. Cheers Ørjan
