  1. Went to Telford on Sunday and my last purchase (at 3.50) was Eduard's Biggles boxing. I would like at least one of the kits to have a pilot seated in the plane but haven't found anything nice (and because it was so late I didn't have time to search for any at the show) Does anyone know of good 48th scale pilot figures for these camels? Prefer resin but plastic or white metal would do. Thanks
  2. Hello guys, my name is Tomas, I am 24 years old modeller from Czech republic and I would like to share with you one of my newest builds. Also I would like to apologize for my not perfect English, but I will do my best. Our story started in 1957 in Londons Chiswick where the pilot boat Leader made for company Trinity House has been launched. About Leader: Leader is 21,43 m long and 4,58 m wide wooden boat which was build in 1957 as a pilot vessel by John Isaac Thornycroft & Company at Chiswick. It was originally fitted with 2 Rolls Royce engines, but now It is fitted with 2 Leyland diesels. Leader served out of Cowes and later at Southampton. When I decided to build Leader, I also decided to find where is the end of Leader. I was suprised, that Leader is not scraped, so journey could start. After southampton service for Trinity house, Leader was sold and has been on river Itchen until 2011. At this time It was repainted, interior was refited and Leader was sold somewhere.. I spend with this looking for Leader about 3 months (I was in touch with lot of people from Trinity House, british national museum, maritime museum, boathouse 4, but modeller Mr. Taylor from Southampon helped me the most) , but at this moment I am at the end of journey, because I have no chance to find it.. Why Leader?: Leader is built by modellers in Czech republic so often and as RC boat, Its is absolutly amazing and It has no problem with waves or wind. Problem is, that Leader built here, is mostly built based on czech plans drawn in 1985, which are absolutly wrond. Hull of this remade model is angular and has only one motor. There are lot of different details and so on, so I decided to build my Leader based on polish plan from 1959 and comics picture.
  3. Since I Have some Free Weekends this month....Decided to make a Simple Base For This one : Already Scratch-built a simple "Mototok" type Tug out of cardboard pieces and some guitar strings to go along a hand painted Deck Base And last week , I started sculpting a couple of figures out of epoxy clay Sure, I can buy some online... but it seems more fun to make em myself.... and its super super super cheap So,here we go The supplies : Indians would really appreciate these, I believe The Colours are mostly basic, so any colour i need...I have to mix them myself ...super cheap..love em Epoxy Clay... dries hard, water soluble initially...i also use it for filling gaps in model joints...extremely cheap... Love it clear resin epoxy, colour inks...for making transparency... Don't have clear acrylic paints here ...not for cheap atleast...so i make my own work around... comparatively cheap.... Works!!! varnishes...the usual stuff
  4. Finished this fantastic little vignette from Elan13 Models. The seat is from a 75mm Dolls house furniture set, stripped and repainted. Cocker Spaniel is based on my own cocker called Louis. Painting thread Here
  5. Hello everyone I'm new here, and I'm already impressed by the worldwide modelling contingent (that I hope include men AND women). Was wondering if any of you can point me in the right direction with respect to finding out the actual uniform colours for modern military Russian pilot uniform? I've carried out a lot of searches online, but to no avail! My immediate plans are to build a collection of Sukhoi aircraft, commencing with (possibly, haven't fully decided) the 1/72 Su-24 from Zvezda. Tiny figures (bought some from Pavla), I know, but what colour is their uniform? Where can I find out this information, with reference to manufacturers model paint types that are available in the UK?

  7. 1/72 WWII US bomber pilot and two gunners 1:72 CMK Here we have pilot and two gunners/crew representing what looks the USAAF in WWII Conclusion These will enhance any diorama or scene. Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  8. Mirage F.1B Figure Set 1:72 Special Hobby Special Hobby have released these figures under the CMK label to accompany their new Mirage F.1B kit. The set consist of two standing pilots (one with and one without his flight helmet) and a standing ground crew figure. The pilot figure seem to be just standing there watching the ground crew member frantically fixing something that they probably broke . The figures are very well sculpted with separate arms for the ground crew man. These figures are excellent and just what is needed to bring your Mirage model (or any 1/72 French Jet) to life. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  9. This kit I bought to practice painting faces on several years ago and it sat in my cabinet, headless for about 2 years. I finally decided I should take a crack at finishing it off so here's the result. I'm happy I managed to line the eyes up and it looks ok from 3ft away. My first attempts at a face looked like Marge Simpson after Homer had done her make up with the make up shot gun (for women with only 4/5ths of a second to get ready). It was brush painted with Vallejo and the base is an old trophy with some dirt from the back yard and grass tufts from MiniNatur.
  10. Magister Figure Set 1:72 Special Hobby Special Hobby have released these figures under the CMK label to accompany their new Magister kit which we reviewed here. The set consist of two standing pilots and a kneeling ground crew figure. There is one standing pilot with his helmet and parachute on, one lounging on the airframe with his helmet off and no parachute. The ground crew member is franticly fixing something that pilots probably broke . The figures are very well sculpted with separate heads for the guys not wearing helmets. These figures are excellent and just what is needed to bring a Magister model to life. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  11. Hi all, Well shes finished at last. its been a real blast doing the WIP for this build and the figure was a dream to paint and build with only the slight hicup of the dodgy masking tape. For my first Airbrushed figure im very happy with the results. hope you all like her. cheers till next time.
  12. Pilot Figures Ultracast 1:32 There are times when you’ve finished a model aircraft that then screams to be placed in a vignette or diorama. For that you may need a figure to give a bit of life. Ultracast have just released these two, one is rather restricted to a limited number of aircraft whereas the other is a bit more of a generic figure that could be used in all sorts of scenarios. Each of the cream resin figures is contained in a zip lock poly bag with a card header stapled to it. [54015] Actually designed for the Tamiya 1:32 Corsair kits, this figure of Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, but could equally be used in a 1:32 P-40 Warhawk of the Flying Tigers unit. The figure is in a seated position and is beautifully sculpted by Mike Good with a lot of detail that will need some very careful painting to make the most of. The figure is separated into torso, head, arms, legs and undone helmet strap. The torso is complete with seatbelts and life vest whilst the head is moulded with the helmet, plus goggles perched on top. The Arms are posed as to be holding he control column in the left hand and the throttles in the right. The face is very well done and does actually look like the real Congressional Medal of Honour holder as seen in the many pictures online. [54016] This figure is more generic, and therefore more versatile. Once again sculpted by Mike Good, and is of a German WWII fighter pilot form the mid to late period. In a standing pose the figure comes with torso and legs moulded together, but with separate arms and heads. I say heads as there is a choice of either one in flying helmet or one peaked cap. Rather un-pc these days, but fine for the period, the figure is shown smoking a cigarette, held in his right hand. The model also has a separate holster. Conclusion Ultracast figures are new to me, but from having a good look at them they really are top quality. Mike Good lives up to his name with some excellent sculpting of the masters. You really need to be up to speed with your figure painting though to give them the paint job they deserve. Very highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
